Butterfly Anniversary

The butterflies are back and Mrs A has changed the format of the challenge - to start the year there is a themed challenge to make an anniversary card.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large' and Memory Box 'Pippi Butterfly' dies
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' stamps
     Versafine Imperial Purple ink
     Woodware Corner Rounder punch
Snippets of Lili of the Valley 'Antebellum' paper, white hammer card and purple textured card

I trimmed the snippet of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I die cut a circle from the centre before using an embossing mat with my Cuttlebug to emboss the edge of the circle.  I layered the panel onto a snippet of Antebellum paper and then placed it onto my craft mat with the open lid of the MISTI on top.  The sentiment stamp was curved, but not enough to fit inside the circle so I applied a little glue to the back of it and attached it to the lid of the MISTI, curving the stamp so it followed the outline of the circle.  I then placed the panel into the MISTI ensuring the stamp was in the correct place before stamping it with purple ink.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card blank.  To finish I die cut a butterfly from purple card and attached it into the aperture.

I am entering the following challenges:
As You Like It - Favourite Paper Brand (I have two favourite brands and Lili of the Valley is one of them - the designs are beautiful and the quality of the paper is lovely - sadly they are no longer available for sale)
Butterfly Challenge - A for Anniversary Card (I have chosen option two and have used African Violet, Amethyst and Apple Green as well as an Aperture, Anniversary sentiment and Butterfly
Pearly Sparkles Challenge - Clean and Simple

Embossed Birthday

My Christmas cards are all now in the post, so it's time to start making cards for a few birthdays in the New Year.

I embossed a piece of white card and trimmed around the edge of the design.  I stamped the butterfly and 'birthday' with blue ink onto snippets of white card, stamping several times to get a deep blue colour.  These were then embossed with clear embossing powder and cut with their coordinating dies.  I placed the embossed panel into my MISTI and laid the butterfly and 'birthday' onto the panel so I could see where to position the 'happy' stamp.  I removed the butterfly and 'birthday' before stamping 'happy' in dark blue ink and embossing it with clear embossing powder.  The panel was attached to the centre of the card blank.  I coloured the butterfly wings with a cream coloured Promarker.  As the Promarker had bled through the card I die cut a butterfly from a piece of copy paper and glued it to the rear before attaching it to the card and shaping the wings.  I die cut another 'birthday' from a snippet of white card, layering the stamped one onto the plain one before attaching it to the card.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' and Clearly Besotted 'Modern Calligraphy' stamps and coordinating dies
     Xcut 'Swirls' embossing folder
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink
     Ivory Promarker
     Snippets of white matt card

I am entering the following challenges:
     AAA Birthday Challenge - Embossing
     Allsorts - Anything Goes
CAS on Friday - Embossing (heat and/or dry - I have used both)
Color Hues Challenge - Navy and Cream
Happy Little Stampers Birthday Challenge - Anything Goes

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

I made this card to send to Dee for the May Card Chain Challenge.  I chose the Colour Option (Peach, Terracotta & Pineapple), the Theme Option (Friendship) and the Product Option (Embossing Powder).

I used the two largest rectangle dies to cut a frame from a snippet of terracotta textured card.  I trimmed a snippet of peach paper so it was slightly smaller than the frame and then placed it into my MISTI.  I stamped the sentiment in the top corner of the paper using brown ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  The paper was attached to the back of the frame and then onto the centre of the card. I stamped the butterfly with brown ink onto a snippet of white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die. I coloured the butterfly wings with a yellow Promarker and the body with a peach Promarker.  I attached the butterfly to the card along its body so I could shape the wings.  To finish I attached three small clear shimmering dots below the sentiment.

To make this card I used:
6" x 4" tent fold white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Cardmaking Magic' butterfly stamp & coordinating die
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics' dies
Practical Publishing 'Slimline Spring Florals' sentiment stamp
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail Embossing Powder
Promarkers ' Yellow & Soft Peach
     Papermania transparent shimmering dots
Snippets of white matt card, terracotta textured card and Lili of the Valley 'Bear Necessities' peach paper

Sunflower Notecard

I like to keep some small notecards in my box so made a few of these sunflower cards.

I used a stitched die to emboss a panel in the front of the card.  The sunflower was stamped onto a snippet of white card using brown ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used the cordinating die to cut the sunflower before colouring it with Promarkers.  The sunflower was then attached to the centre of the card with foam pads.

To make this card I used:
     4" x 4" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'Best of Card Making Magic' sunflower stamp & coordinating die, My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Square STAX Die-namics' dies
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink

Happy Birthday Butterfly

When I made my previous 'Happy Birthday' card I stamped lots of butterflies in different colours.  I'm using this purple one for the AAA Birthday Card Challenge as two of my favourite colours are purple and pink.

I die cut a frame from white card using the two largest stitched dies.  I placed the card blank and frame into my MISTI so I could see where to position the sentiment.  After removing the frame I stamped the sentiment a couple of times in purple ink to get a good depth of colour before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  I attached the frame with foam tape in the centre of the card.  I coloured the butterfly with purple and pink Promarkers and attached another butterfly shape to the rear to cover the marks where the pen had bled through the card.  To finish I attached the butterfly along the body so I could shape the wings over the frame.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' butterfly stamp and die
Clearly Besotted 'Fabulous Fuchsias' sentiment stamp
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' dies
     Versafine Imperial Purple ink
Cosmic Shimmer clear detail embossing powder
     Promarkers
     Snippets of white card

I am entering the following challenges:
AAA Birthday Card Challenge - Two Favourite Colours (I've used purple and pink)
Butterfly Challenge - Spin the Wheel with Letter T (I have used Thistle and Tickle Me Pink + my butterfly)

Happy Birthday

I made this card for a friend's birthday using one of the sentiments from a new set of Clearly Besotted stamps I bought in their half price sale.

I trimmed a piece of white card so it was slightly smaller than the front of the card blank and used a zig-zag die to emboss a pattern across the top.  I stamped the butterfly in dark blue ink onto a snippet of white card and cut it with the coordinating die before colouring it with grey and blue Promarkers.  I placed the embossed panel into my MISTI and laid the butterfly onto it so I could see where the position the sentiment.  The sentiment was stamped in dark blue ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card.  As I had coloured the butterfly with Promarkers the colour had bled through the card, so I die cut a butterfly from a piece of scrap paper and glued it to the rear before attaching the butterfly to the card and shaping its wings.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' butterfly stamp and die
     Clearly Besotted 'Mini Calligraphy' stamps
Creative Expressions 'Clean and Simple - Zig Zag Border' die
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink
Cosmic Shimmer clear detail embossing powder
     Promarkers
     Snippets of white card

I am entering the following challenges:
AAA Cards - Moodboard (I have picked the colours Blue and Grey)
     Allsorts - Anything Goes

You are Fabulous

My first card today is the one I sent to Mia for the February Card Chain Challenge.  I chose the colour Option (Soft Navy, Blush Pink & Silver Grey), the Sketch Option and the Theme Option (Nature & Friendship).

I die cut the wicker panel from white card and attached it across the centre of the card and trimmed the card blank so it was the same width.  I stamped and embossed the butterfly and 'you' sentiment before die cutting them with their coordinating dies.  I placed the card into my MISTI and laid the butterfly and 'you' onto it so I could place the 'are fabulous' stamp before stamping and embossing it.  I coloured the butterfly with Promarkers before attaching it to across the wicker panel and attached 'you' on a thin foam pad.  To finish I highlighted the butterfly wings with a Wink of Stella.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' butterfly stamp & Clearly Besotted 'Modern Calligraphy' stamp and coordinating dies
     Memory Box 'Wicker Panel' die
     Versafine Magestic blue ink

Thank You

My final card today was made using the AAA Cards sketch and the Less is More colours.

I embossed a strip of white card, trimmed it and attached it across the front of the card.  I stamped the butterfly onto a snippet of white card using blue ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die.  I coloured it with a Coral Promarker.  I placed the card into my MISTI and laid the butterfly onto the embossed strip so I could place the sentiment.  I removed the butterfly before stamping and embossing the sentiment.  I attached the butterfly in the centre of the strip and added three small coral gems to the card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' butterfly stamp and Hobby Art 'General Greetings' sentiment stamp

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

I made this card to send to Lucille for the May Card Chain Challenge (I can reveal the card as Lucille has told me she's received it).  I made my card following the Colour Palette Option, Sketch Option and Theme Option (butterfly and friendship).

The card and ribbon are from my snippets drawer so I'm heading into the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

6" x 6" cream speckled card blank
The Best of Cardmaking Magic Butterfly Stamp and Die
Stamps for All Occasions sentiment stamp
Versafine Olympia Green ink
Red and yellow coloured pencils
Snippets of cream speckled and green matt card, yellow ribbon

I trimmed the cream speckled card to a square and stamped the sentiment in the top corner.  I wrapped a yellow ribbon around the lower section before layering the panel onto green card and attaching it to the card front.  I used green ink to stamp the butterfly onto cream speckled card and cut it with the coordinating die.  I coloured the butterfly with red and yellow coloured pencils before attaching it to the card.

This is the lovely friendship card I received from Greta.
