K.I.S.S.

I really wanted to post this card earlier today but I had a sinus headache that put me in bed for a couple of hours. I've still got the stinkin' headache, but I'm not going down until this post is done!

This is a birthday card that I designed specifically for my sister, Anna. Her birthday is on Thursday & she absolutely LOVES 80s metal & glam rock (Ozzy, Poison, Whitesnake, Twisted Sister, Metallica, AC/DC, you name it). That's her music & it always will be. She also loves purple - fitting, since amethyst is February's birthstone. With all of that in mind, here's what I came up with:

The background is from DCWV's Rock Star mat stack, flowers are from Prima, my COPIC marker V17 (amethyst) to color a clear rhinestone & half pearl, and some black Roller Rink "Thickers" by American Crafts.
Inside, I used some more of the background, punched out with an EK Success wavy border punch, the guitar stamp is from one of Studio G's clear mini sets, & I wrote her a little message. Hope she likes it!

Don't forget to look for changes to my left sidebar, starting tomorrow. The new issue of Serendipity Street goes live on the 1st & believe me when I say that you're gonna LOVE some of the goodies we've got for you!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

An altered book to share

I've been storing this little gem of a book for a while now. Had it about half done and today, while going through some boxes, I found it & decided to finish it out. It's 3.5 inches square, so it's tiny. I picked it up at the DI (Deseret Industries), which is a Utah thrift store, for about 25¢. It's totally BLANK inside and it's a hardcover (the cover was UGLY), so when I found it I thought, "Yeah, I can probably do something with it."

Here's what the front looks like now. I used some plain cardstock on the spine of the book, some blue patterned paper from a pad I picked up a Wal-Mart, my swirly stamps from Inkadinkado, an initial stamp from Studio G, and the little hummingbird is coming out in the new issue of Serendipity Street as part of a Level A hostess set called "Swirled Spring Life."

It was too bright so I grunged it up with Ranger Distress inks in Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, & Vintage Photo. I even stamped some on the back.
I used my buttermilk Atyou Spica pen on the outline of the bird & my initial for some sparkle.
And finished off the inside with some distressed dotted paper from K&Co. The corners are punched with a Fiskars 3-corner punch called "heritage."
Since it's blank inside, I think I'll keep it here on my work desk to write card recipes in...it's tiny so I'll set it up here on my COPIC marker cubby & it'll be handy all the time!

Tomorrow, I should have a vintage Valentine card ready for ya to peek at. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Keepin It Simple Sunday

I've got two cards for you tonight. Both of them combined took about 40 minutes, start to finish, to assemble. This first one uses a rubber stamp & a set of clear minis from Studio G out of the $1 bins at JoAnn's. An ivory A2 pre-made base, a piece of K&Co paper, some VersaMagic Inks from Tsukeniko in Jumbo Java and Sahara Sand, & you have a simple but lovely Valentine's Day card. Could be for newlyweds or an anniversary, too, as I didn't use "traditional" colors.

This one I did directly on the pre-made card base. I used some green VersaMagic Dew Drop Ink in Niagara Mist, TAC's stamp "Running Stitches," a few flowers from Prima, some gold Liquid Pearls by Ranger, and a sentiment stamp from my TAC Grab Bag that I purchased last summer.
So....you like? I hope so! Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Some cards from yesterday's tags

Thought I'd share these with you before the rest of the day gets away from me. It's been perfect here for making cards: cloudy, rainy, windy....COLD. Great excuse to stay inside and craft. I should be packing for the move, but I just can't bring myself to do it just yet.

Background paper from K&Co.

I colored this one with my COPIC markers before antiquing and mounting onto the card. Background paper from My Mind's Eye. Felt ribbon from Kaiser Craft.

I love this crow from Making Memories (set was called Spellbound). Wicked tag is from Studio G. Background paper is My Mind's Eye.

Stamp on this tag is from Studio G. Background paper is the same sheet from My Mind's Eye. Maybe I'll get to craft a bit more before bedtime...
Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Cheers!

Happy World Card Making Day!! Well, I didn't get any cards made, BUT I did manage to make a few things to go ON cards over the next week or so. Can you tell what kind of mood I'm in?
Papers are My Mind's Eye & K&Co. Stamps are from Inkadinkadoo, Studio G, and Making Memories. Inks for antiquing are Tsukeniko Dew Drops. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day.

One down, two to go!

Good morning! Is everyone looking forward to the weekend as much as I am? We're supposed to have temps in the 80s & plenty of sun, so I think I'm sunning my pale, pasty self this weekend. I need some color! *LOL*

I made a card yesterday that I wanted to share with you. I need to make two more for Father's Day then I'm good to go. I wanted this one to be clean & simple...no fuss, just like the man I'm sending it to.
This is a 4.5x6.5 pre-made card base with distressed green paper from My Mind's Eye; distressed Striped paper also from My Mind's Eye; "Love You" stamp is from Studio G; chipboard, colored with YR04 COPIC marker is from Best Occasions by WalMart. Inside, I used a leftover strip of green stamped with the "Love You" stamp & punched down one side with the scalloped border punch from SU.
Had a bit of the striped paper left, so I used it on the envelope flap. This card is going to my "dad by heart" - Daddy Carl means the world to me & even though I didn't marry one of his sons as he'd hoped, he doesn't hold that against me. *LOL* He still loves me, calls me every month, & I always feel like I'm part of the family. He's the best & I'm a lucky girl to have him in my life!Well, it's early out day for my boys & I've got to get these other cards made, along with the laundry that comes from raising males, so that translates to tons of things to do & NO TIME to do it in! *LOL* Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!
