Our Beautiful World 177 ~ Tis the Season

Today I had an unhappy episode at school, it makes me so upset that I feel like stop teaching at the Saturday school, it is a semi-volunteer job, we get paid very little because Tsu Chi Buddist Foundation is a Charity organization, therefore teacher don't get pay much, it is almost like transportation allowances.
So the story started a few weeks ago, Moli is a 5 year old girl in my class, she didn't complete her home assignment, so I didn't give her a sticker for that week, and then the next week, she didn't do homework again, so she didn't get the sticker once again, that evening, my principle called me, to check with me if Moli has any problem in class, she claimed that Moli's mom, who is our new teacher this year told her that she is not going to teach at our school because her daughter Moli refused to go to school on Saturday, so I told principle the story, it seems like she understood, she told me that it's ok, since she needs teacher badly, she really hope that Moli would enjoy school so her mom Nancy will continue teaching at our school. The following week when I went to school, first thing Moli told me was "Principle Maggie is going to give me sticker today!" Oh well, at that point, I decided that I can't do much about that since Principle is afraid to lose a teacher.
When we had the assembly in the hall today, I saw Moli standing in line with another class, with older kids, I had a bad feeling but I just keep my cool because no one tells me anything, during recess, I asked principle when I met her on the hall way, she then told me that Nancy (Moli's mom) insisted that Moli switch class, to join the older kids (8-9 years old), so..... I was a little upset that I wasn't even informed, and that all started because Moli didn't do her homework and didn't get a sticker, really? Is that how we teach our children these days?
It is fine with me that Moli is not in my class, and if that is the way Nancy and our principle teach the kids, I got nothing to say, what did the kid learn here? Moli learn that she can get the way she wants by just telling the mom she doesn't want to go to school because she doesn't get a sticker from the teacher, and that she doesn't need to do her homework, well, be it, to me, I am teaching a class of 22 children, I need to let the kids know that a one page home assignment a week is not too much to ask for, you do it, you'll get a sticker, if you didn't, you don't get one, simple as that.
I do feel like giving up, I don't need that money, I teach simply because I enjoy teaching, now that this teaching is eating up my weekends, DH complains a few times that we could hardly get away because of that, I really just want to quit right away, sigh......

Anyway, enough of venting, let's get something festive to cheer me up! : )

Our Beautiful World 176 ~ Peaceful

Back in the summer, I had a few bad months, life was in chaos and I was feeling depressed for the longest time, I needed a get-away so badly so we went to Oceano, CA for a few days just to be by the ocean.

we did pay a high price for this Airbnb rental, but the owner locked up the front bedroom, which is the one facing the ocean, so it was a bummer, however, from the living room downstairs, we are still able to get this view....

we walked on the beach every morning and evening, it was that peaceful feeling I longed for.....

I think my little boy agreed too....

we really love how peaceful it was by the ocean.

The word is WHITE.

My photo is the famous WHITE gazebo in Botanic Garden, Singapore.

every Singaporean should recognize this WHITE gazebo, known as the Bandstand. It stood there in Botanic garden since 156 years ago.

This tropical garden is honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so.... if you get a chance to go to Singapore, do make sure you pay a visit there.

Our Beautiful World 174 ~ Worn

When I was in Amsterdam this past summer, I met up with Wendy, we had fun walking the city and when we got hungry, we had lunch at this Japanese restaurant where I found a WORN piece of furniture....

I don't know why is it there but it sure caught my eyes....

one thing I love traveling in Europe, is that everywhere you go, you'll find something vintage just about anywhere... this one in Florence sure looks WORN too....

Our Beautiful World 172 ~ Hobby

How many of you are like me? Plenty of hobbies but not enough time.

I shouldn't say paper crafting is my number one hobby, but it is sure what I spent most time on right now.....

I make all sort of things using paper, like this place card for one of my wedding order....

I make mini albums....

cards and lots of other things with paper

 I also love sewing.....

this is the pillow I made for Lila, Clare's dog.

 I also love cooking.....

trying different recipes is fun....

baking is also one of my favorite hobby.... I even try to cultivate natural yeast this past week....

this hobby takes time and patient, they said you should name your yeast because you feed time since day one and watch them grow, so I named my first yeast baby SNOW WHITE, this picture here is day one of SNOW WHITE, if all goes well, SNOW WHITE will be full grown yeast by tomorrow, and I am able to use it for baking. I will keep you updated.

One more HOBBY.....

gardening!
I am not very good because my thumbs are not green, but I don't mind keep trying... this is my celery in the garden, hopefully I can show you more photos later.

Ok, I think that is enough HOBBY in this post, I have a lot more but I just need time, I wish there are 48 hours everyday, so I can at least spend a few more hours for my HOBBIES.

Our Beautiful World 170 ~ Comfort

This week at....

The word is COMFORT.

When we on the road trip to Colorado last week, the word COMFORT came up to my mind when I turn my head to the backseat, so I quickly grab my cell phone and took this.....

Papi likes to sit on my lap when we are on road trips, but he is too big for me, so most of the time he has the backseat all by himself,  he would put his head on DH's backpack at the far corner of the seat when he is taking a rest, I guess he finds COMFORT in the familiar smell... awwwww, this picture just make my heart melts....

Come play along with us at Our Beautiful World!

Finally home and OBW 169 Holiday

Whew.... I am finally home, sleeping on my own bed last night..
it was trip after trip since late September, we went to San Francisco, and then the weekend after is Oceano, CA for a break I desperately needed, came home for just a few nights and then we were off again to NYC, and then home for a day and off to Colorado, we came home late last night and I desperately needed a break from all of these trips, I am going to stay home for at least 10 days, YAY!!!!!! and then we will be off for another road trip to Orange county.
I feel so disconnected with my blog..... and I am late for my OBW post.

HOLIDAY is the word this week.

In Singapore, when we said HOLIDAY, we mean going away, like a vacation mean to American. Here in America, I think most people think of HOLIDAY like Christmas, Thanksgiving etc...

So..... I pick this photo...

for Thanksgiving HOLIDAY, which is around the corner.....

You'll see it everywhere in America this time of the year, of course sometimes we took for granted that is obvious to see pumpkins everywhere in the fall, not until my girlfriend Ann, who live in Germany told me that she loves how every household is decorated with pumpkins in front of their front door in Vermont, she was here in USA last fall and simply loves it....

I took the pumpkins photo when we went to a local farm stand in Oceano, CA.

besides pumpkins, they also have strawberry field just at the back of the farm stand....

well, whatever the word HOLIDAYmean to you, come share with us at...
