Featured Crafter at Krafters' Paradise /Rolled Flower, Pixie Topiary Tutorial

I was featured at Krafters' Paradise (Clink HERE to see!)

Here's the project

My Pixie Topiary made for Pixie Dust Paperie - posted March 28, see original post HERE!!!!

I have a few requests asking for tutorial on this project, since this is mainly made out of rolled flower, so I am going to start with that...
"warning - photo heavy"

What you need to make a rolled flower -
punch or dies

round shape without the scallop edge works well too,  if you do not have these punch or dies, a simple circle shape will do...

you can add a little distressed ink to the edges....

acylic paint dabber like this one works too...

with a pair of small scissors, starting from the outside working in to the center, cut in spiral

this is what it looks like....

you could use a pencil to draw the spiral if you do not feel comfortable cutting it free-hand, I am kind of a lazy crafter.... : )

use a pencil or a paint brush, start from the outside of the spiral, roll the flower around the pencil (or paint brush) from the outside all the way towards the center....

when it comes almost to the end, release the flower and let it uncurl a little

apply hot glue (or use glue dots) to the base (the base = the center of your spiral) to hold the rolled flower in place

Tada...... your rolled flower is done....

or not yet, you'll need like hundreds of them... LOL! seriously, I do not know how many I used, but enough to cover up the styrofoam ball like this one....

for the topiary, you will need the following items
1. styrofoam ball (picture above)

2. Satay stick, or any stick that able to pierce through the styrofoam ball

3. a mini flower pot

Step 1 - piece the sharp end of the satay stick into the styrofoam ball
Step 2 - I added a little brown paint to the satay stick
Step 3 - start sticking all the rolled flowers on the styrofoam ball with hot glue until the whole ball is covered

Step 4 - filled the mini pot with dry floral form, those you would used for flower arrangement

Step 5 - stick the other end of the satay stick into the pot and start to dress up (cover up) the dry form with glittered mini eggs, lace trim and tinsel

What I used here were the left-overs of the trims, you know, those bits and pieces of odd ends after your other projects

FYI - the green trim (Webster's Pages Nature Trim)

How could a Pixie Topiary do without a Pixie?
Step 6 - 1cut one of the Pixie out from my Graphic 45 "Pixie Post" paper found in Pixie Dust Paperie February Kit "Springtime Pixie"

add a mini butterfly so Pixie have someone to play with....

Final Step - dress up the topiary a bit by added crinkled ribbon and a mini doily at the base of the pot

whew..... are you still here?????

Thanks for sticking with me.... : )
