City Crafter Challenge Blog Week 366 ~ Frame it!

I get to spent a few days in New York with Dolce and Alfie Coconut, we went to the storage place to moved all her boxes and luggages back to the apartment, I went to get grocery for her, cook some meals and let her freeze them in the freezer so that would save her some cooking time once she starts work.

my last day in New York, Dolce and Alfie Coconut sent me off at Penn Station, where I took the Long Island Rail Road to Islip to meet up with DH and then fly home from there.

as soon as we touched down at McCarren Airport in Vegas at 11 PM, Thursday night, I continue the journey, drove 4 hours to Valencia to pick up my baby boy at Clare's apartment...

and then drove another 4 hours back to Vegas, it is amazing the things you are willing to do for your dog.

FRAME IT!

these days I don't really craft much, probably just the one project per week for the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog....

I don't have a busy summer in terms of work, not teaching at summer camp this year, and teach only a few hours per week to my private students that's about it. I spent most of my time cleaning up and tidying up the house, and tomorrow we are having our bathroom remodeled, I am so not looking forward to that.

Don't forget to hop over to City Crafter to see all the beautiful work done by the team.

City Crafter Challenge Blog Week 353 ~ Spring is around the corner!

This week at...

The theme is...

Spring is around the corner, Stella picked a lovely inspiration photo.

Here's my layout inspired by the Spring Feel photo.

The photos of the girls when they were young, we lived on 57th street, just a few minutes walk to central park south, we spent a lot of time there when we were new to the city. I miss those days and I miss Spring Time in New York City!

I hope you play along with us this week at City Crafter Challenge Blog!

This past weekend, DH and I went to Iowa for my brother-in-law's retirement party.

it was cold.......

after the party on Saturday, we drove to Des Moines, IA to spent a night with my sister-in-law Marilyn, since my older brother-in-law Dan passed away nearly 3 years ago, she hasn't been able to adjust, few months ago, she finally decided to leave Cedar Rapids, bought a mobile home and parked it at her daughter's farm, that way, she can spend time with her daughter and grand children, but yet has her own space.
Iowa is really really cold, no wonder DH never want to move back there.

Growing up in the city and lived in NYC, the wide open farm land seems attractive to me, imagine your neighbor is like miles away.... ahhhh....

Since I am blogging less, I try to post my photos on instagram, if you like to follow me, here's the link - https://www.instagram.com/kirsty_vittetoe/

See you there!!!!

Some puppy notes from home....

COCONUT is a Maltipoo, he is 8 weeks old.....

I sure would love him to stay but nah....

he is going back to NYC with Dolce (sop sop....)

Dolce wants a dog, so we went to a few shelters, wanting to adopt one. Ever since Clare adopted Lila, I've seen tremendous changes LOVE can a dog's life. Lila was abused the first three years of her life, she was made to breed and then abandon on the street, so she is fearful, afraid of men and other dogs, when she first came, she barks a lot, just about to anyone except Clare, and no one can go near her, not even Jared, but after six months of loving care from Clare and Jared, I see a different Lila, she is much happier and also learn to accept male that are kind to her. I remember Lila supposed to put to sleep because there just isn't enough room for her at the shelter, Clare and Jared took her in as a foster parent, fell in love with her and not only save her life, they changed Lila's life forever. I wanted to adopt a dog instead of buying just for that reason, but after visiting a few shelters, we learn that the adopted dog cannot leave Las Vegas, that means, Dolce can't take the dog home, so we ended up buying again, that way, the dog is free to move to NYC with Dolce and we are not bind to any contract by the shelter.

so COCONUT is here to stay, not at home with us though, not just because COCONUT is for Dolce, also because Papi is just a chicken, he even afraid of tiny COCONUT! Wherever COCONUT is, Papi just stay away, so we have to be extra careful and protect Papi's feeling too!

Project Life 2016 ~ May 20 to 22

Project Life 2016

May 20
Early morning today, I dropped Papi off at Doggie Oasis, the day care/boarding that he will stay for three days when we are gone. I am so so sad.....

I got to the airport at 7AM and on my way to New York City for Dolce's graduation, DH flew to Boston on Monday for work and we will meet in NYC.

Whenever I get a chance on my phone, I would look at the papi cam to see what is my baby boy doing...

sometimes he is curious and want to make friends with others...

but a lot of the time, he would just stand there and stare at the gate, maybe he is thinking "when is mom coming to pick me up?" I feel so so sad leaving him there but I have no other choice since both DH and I, plus Clare will be all in NYC for Dolce's graduation.

I arrived in New York around 5, but got stuck in traffic for more than 2 hours, it is dinner time by the time I got to our friend's house. Imran is a vendor and friends who worked for DH, we knew Imran more than ten years, every time we come back to the city, he also invited us to stay with him, but we never did. This time because Dolce's campus is in Queens, so we finally agreed to stay with Imran.

Imran and his family are from Iran, they moved here for a better life, hard working and honest people, he works 18 hours a day just to provide for his family, it is sad for me to hear their kids talking about the election at dinner, that if Mr. T was elected, they will have to stop school, or even move out of America, how sick the country is that a 7 year old has to fear for his future just because they are immigrants, just because they are Muslim.

May 21
Graduation is tomorrow, we have a free day today, Imran assigned one of his driver to take care of us the whole day, so we go into the city. High Line has been one of the places I wanted to visit, it wasn't there when we lived in NYC, and every time I came back here, there is just too many things to do on the list, we finally made it to High Line this time.
I have a post on High Line few days ago, you can check out more pictures of High Line if you are interested.

High Line is a piece of GREEN build in the hustle and bustle of NYC...

after High Line, we walked a big loop to Chelsea Market, we passed by Chelsea Piers....

I used to take Dolce to Chelsea Piers for her gymnastic training, 3 times a week, rain or shine, I still remember those days, especially in the cold winter nights, I just wish that I don't have to do that, but what do you do, a Mother supposed to provide whatever best for their kids, Dolce loves gymnastic when she was young, even when times were rough, she won't quit, so as mother, I just have to push myself to go on.

Chelsea Market was here when I lived in NYC, but I haven't been here...

I just love market places, but we don't have a lot of time because we want to go to China Town for our favorite soup dumplings...

soup dumplings and spicy cabbage from Joe's Shanghai is a MUST whenever we come back to NYC

it is such a luxury to have a driver taking you wherever you want.... after lunch we went to Freedom tower to see the reflection pool...

May 22
Today is Dolce's graduation day, it was raining so it took some of the fun away...

I am so proud of my baby girl, she just turn 21 in May, and she received her Bachelor degree with highest honor (Summa Cum Lande is what they announced it)

After graduation, we went out for lunch and then back to Imran's house to pick up our bags, we are on the way to Europe!!!
