TMTA- Slide Mounts

I actually made this on Monday night, but I wanted to upload Isa's challenge first, so here is my entry for this week's Think Monday, Think ATC. This week's challenge is to use a slide mount somewhere on your work, and I have these lovely card ones which are great for stamping on.
I was thinking of Isa's Alpha challenge when I made this, although it has nothing to do with the letter 'K', but I am inspired by the idea of black and white plus one other colour. I had also watched a demo with Glenda Waterworth from Elusive Images on TV where she did layers of 'spotlight stamping', with the colour on the second and, in her case, third layer.
The main stamp is Anna Griffin, stamped in Versafine on white cardstock. The spotlighted area is the same stamp used with Brilliance Orchid Pink. The slide mount is stamped (Hero Arts) and distressed using Stazon, as it has a glossy finish. The black butterfly is stamped in Versafine, the pink in Brilliance with added Stickles glitter glue. Thanks for looking!

Think Monday, Think ATC- Metal

I have taken a couple of weeks off from doing challenges, as I felt like I was stretching myself a bit thin. I don't know why, but now the weather has turned more Autumnal, I feel like my energy has been renewed. So here is my entry to this week's TMTA, the theme for which is 'metal'.
The background of the ATC is the one I made before using the tape-lifted text technique, which was then coloured with alcohol inks. I stamped on it using a maple leaf stamp from Cherry Pie Art Stamps and black Stazon. When I made the background, I had also used the alcohol inks to colour some acetate. I stamped and embossed the acetate using the leaf stamp and gold embossing powder, and cut out the top half of the leaf. I layered this over the background to get a more intense colour, and added the leaf brads (Dovecraft, I think) and the corner embellishment.
It has turned out very textural again, but I like it! Autumn, I'm ready for you!

Think Monday, Think ATC- Loving couples

This week's Think Monday, Think ATC challenge is 'loving couples'. How could I not use this stamp? The original of this is beautiful, but Marina from Cherry Pie has really caught the passion in her rendition for this stamp. Thanks Marina!
The border and text were computer generated, the main image was stamped in black Versafine. The Cherry Pie heart was reverse stamped in Versamark, using the flat plain square from Judikins' 'Carol's Cube' (ink up your stamp, stamp it onto the square, then stamp the square onto your paper. Voila, your image is reversed!). First it was heat embossed with gold detail powder, then I used Versacolour Cardinal Red direct-to-paper over the whole image, poured on clear embossing powder, then heated it. I don't know how this works, but the original embossing comes through the colour! Then I cut out the heart and glued it in position, and mounted the whole thing on black card. Oh, and the lips were coloured with Sakura Stardust then Glaze pens.
If anyone loves fonts, as I do, then check out Dafont.com. There are hundreds of amazing fonts in all different styles, perfect for the finishing touch for your projects. And they're free!

Think Monday, Think ATC- Holiday

I finally managed to finish my ATC for this week's Think Monday, Think ATC challenge. Boy, did I struggle with this one! I hope it's just because of this cold I have, but I really wasn't inspired, and this isn't my best work. However, I have decided to use it, even though I don't like it, as I am not ashamed to show I have off days! The important thing is to recognise when something isn't quite right. It would be far worse if I thought this was amazing!
Anyway, the faux postcard in the background was made with my Hero Arts script stamp, a Rubbadubadoo butterfly stamp, and Distress Ink in Vintage photo. Then there is a layer of torn Mulberry paper, then a photo of a French beach printed onto a transparency. Finally, a swirl stamp from Aud Design was stamped in black Stazon and highlighted with white pen, and I wrote "Wish you were here" to finish. Hmmm, not sure where I was going with this!

Think Monday, Think ATC- Asia

I've been pondering this theme since Monday, trying to decide how to use my oriental stamps, as I don't have a lot to choose from. It's strange, as I love Japanese culture and I have some nice items around the house. Maybe that's why I don't have many stamps of that theme, I would want them to be beautiful and not at all cartoonish. I have my eye on some from Stonehouse Stamps, but have yet to take the plunge and order them.
The penny finally dropped that Asia also incorporates India, and suddenly I was inspired! The peacock is India's national bird, and I have used some text from a Hindu folk tale. And I love pink!
I stamped the main images (both from Tanda Stamps) in Versamark on cream card, and used matt clear embossing powder before creating my background with H2os and other metallic watercolors. Then I masked off the image and stamped the background with the feathers image (Rubbadubadoo) using Cats Eye Fluid Chalk in Dark Peony. The text was tinted with Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Antique Linen, then the Paisley (Tanda Stamps) stamped and embossed in gold.
I feel the need to find some detail embossing powder in various colours, as the paisleys look a bit 'rough', but good old Google will surely help me!

Think Monday, Think ATC- Faces.

I decided last night that, despite the presence downstairs of the wakeful baby, I would leave him under the supervision of his Daddy, and go into the dining room to stamp. I was getting withdrawal symptoms! I wanted to make something small, and so decided to go for it, and make something for the new challenge site, Think Monday, Think ATC. This week's challenge is faces, and so I have used my gorgeous new Limited Edition stamps, plus some old favourites.
I stamped the frame first, in Versafine, and masked it off before stamping the Hero Arts script. Then I did a reverse mask and stamped the Cherry Pie face. I watercoloured everything using Distress Inks in Shabby Shutters, Scattered Straw, Tattered Rose, and Weathered wood. I stamped on the Prima flowers (with the new stamps), and attached them with brads from my stash.
For me, that's pretty simple, and I got it finished just as Dan started to be ready for sleep!
