HITS - Afrodite

Hello all! Happy Monday! My job let me out today about two hours after I had gotten there due to Hurricane Sandy beginning to make her impact on Long Island. I hope all of my fellow North Easterners stay safe today! The rain has been steady since I woke up this morning, but it hasn't begun to seriously downpour yet. The wind is really something else; it kept me awake much of last night and driving home I did no more than 60 on the highway as I felt like my car was going to be blown off the road. We already have some medium sized branches in my backyard that have come down.

Anyhow, today I have Afrodite from the HITS No Olimpo collection. Afrodite is a muted rose-pink  holographic polish. At times the base color of this looks a bit peachy on my skin tone. The holo isn't as strong in Afrodite as it is in some of the other polishes from the No Olimpo collection, but it's still pretty. The formula was a bit strange. It reminded me of a thickened jelly polish and it applied so thick that I wasn't sure it was going to dry correctly. It did dry, much quicker than I thought and super shiny and as smooth as glass. It was opaque in two coats and I topped it off with Seche Vite...

Sorry for the tip wear!

So I'm home and trying to think of things to do to keep myself busy. I did three loads of laundry last night thinking that we may lose power and I would be out of luck (the power has dipped twice so far but has come right back on). I'm sitting on the Sephora website adding things to my cart at a rapid rate, so I decided I would start depotting some of my makeup since I ordered magnetic palettes from Make Up For Ever yesterday. I haven't purchased any nail polish in a while that's a lie, in the last few weeks - all of my money has gone to makeup.

Here's my progress so far:

I depotted them using the heat from my hair straightener, parchment paper and sharp knives. I slightly murdered two blushes (a brand new one which I couldn't even depot) and have already burned and sliced my finger.

Anyway, thanks for reading through this rambling post. I hope everyone stays safe! I wish I could let all of the animals outside into my garage so they could stay safe, it makes me so sad to think about them being outside :(
If you are in areas other than the NE, enjoy your Monday! ;)

HITS - No Olimpo collection, Zeus

Every once in a while a polish comes in to your life, and you wonder what the hell you were doing without it. That's exactly what happen with Zeus from the No Olimpo collection from HITS. I received this as a Christmas gift from my best friend, who (on top of Zeus) gifted me the most amazing polishes. After we exchanged gifts, I had to nubbinize my nails and I really wanted to wait to wear this, but I figured dark colors look good on nubs so what the hell. I planned on wearing this for 1-2 days and then starting my NYE mani. That's not what happened.....
I wore Zeus for a record S-I-X full days. The last time I wore a mani that long I had OPI Axxium on my nails. I change my polish approx 5 times a week. For the most part, the only mani that lasts longer than a day is my weekend mani (and that's just because I run out of time). I can't begin to explain how much I love this polish. Formula was excellent. It went on smoothly and was opaque in 2 coats. I completely forgot to take photos the first day, so the photos shown are from day #4. On day #4, I only had slight tip wear. On day #6, I still had only tip wear and no chips. Zeus, when not in direct sunlight or light is honestly a little bland. It looks like a dark gray polish, and the shimmer is only slightly apparent. It really comes alive in the sun. For that reason, I included photos of the polish inside, with no flash. I think these are a decent representation of what the polish looks like indoors (although I need to invest in a better lighting system lol). I wish I would have taken outdoor photos. I will remember to take some the next time I wear this polish.

The photos below show 2 coats of Zeus, and a coat of Seche Vite (which did not lessen the holo, in my opinion). I couldn't narrow down the photos, each looked a little different so I decided to upload the best of the photos I took  :0)
Just a reminder, you can purchase HITS from Llarowe.

HITS - No Olimpo Collection, Dionisio

Happy New Year to each and every one of you. I hope you had a good 2011, and I hope that you have an even better 2012. Thanks for visiting and commenting on posts in 2011.  I appreciate every single one of you!

Did anyone do anything fun for NYE? Around 6pm the boyfriend & I decided to go into NYC. It was m-a-d-n-e-s-s. I knew we wouldn't make it into Time Square because of the crowds, but the traffic was horrendous as they had already started closing down streets. We ended up leaving around 9:30pm so we could beat the drunks on the drive home.

Did anyone make any resolutions?? I normally make the same one each year, and always fail miserably (pay off credit cards, aka stop shopping). I think I may try to put myself on a bit of a n0-buy and get through my untrieds for at least the month of January. I had a no-buy in December and still somehow wound up with at least 30 new polishes.

Today's swatches are of Dionisio from HIT'S No Olimpo Collection. I swatched this months back, but I'm not too satisfied with the pictures I have of it. This polish is beautiful, and I wish I had better photos to represent it.

If you love purples and holos, you need Dionisio. This is the perfect purple holo. It's a true purple, and definitely leans more cool toned. Formula was extremely easy to work with, and if I remember correctly this is 2 coats. You can purchase this from Llarowe. Her website has become my go to site, and I ordered another three polishes from her this week as a gift for myself lol.

On to the swatches.....
All photos interior with flash. Swatches show 1 coat of Seche Vite on Dionisio.

HITS - No Olimpo collection, Apolo

Good morning! Another holo post today. Here's another polish that I purchased from Shop.Llarowe, it's HITS Apolo from the No Olimpo collection. If you missed my post yesterday, be sure to check it out as it's another Brazilian HITS polish.

Apolo is a medium/deep royal blue linear holographic polish. It's really gorgeous! This is another picture heavy post because I can't figure out how to narrow these holo photos down to just a few.

Formula on Apolo was great. For a holo it's not streaky and it goes on smooth and shiny. The photos below are two coats of Apolo and a coat of Seche Vite (definetly not needed, but I won't leave the house without it) Again, these photos are indoors with a flash.

Side note: I wore this polish from Thursday-Sunday evening with almost no signs of wear!

HITS - No Olimpo collection, Atena

Good morning! Today I have another polish I purchased from Shop.Llarowe. I had waited for these to come in stock, and when I saw she had stock left over from the pre-orders I jumped on it. I picked up three and they are all gorgeous, I couldn't decide which to try first.

Atena is from the Brazillian brand HITS, and part of the No Olimpo collection. It's a gorgeous hot pink linear holographic polish. Out of direct sunlight the pink has a rosy tone to it. Formula is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! This dried incredibly smooth and shiny!

The photos below are two coats of Atena and a coat of Seche Vite (which I didn't really need). I couldn't even choose which photos to cut, so this post is extra photo heavy. I don't have any natural sunlight photos - the weather in NY has been yucky lately. These photos were taken indoors with a flash.

Again, I picked these up from LLarowe for $10.00. They are a little smaller than the traditional polish bottles, but they are gorgeous and worth it. Transactions are a breeze, shipping is fast, and if you follow her on Facebook she has a ton of personality. Check out her website to see what she has in stock (hello A England and Ozotic!) and what she has coming soon. (Ludurana!!!!)
I'm pretty sure she's going to put me in even more polish debt as time goes on lol
