Twinsie Tuesday: OPI DS Coronation & Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd

Happy Tuesday!  Today is our second round with Twinsie Tuesdays. The theme of this week's challenge is a layered polish. I'm actually cheating a little and using a mani that I did on Friday and wore throughout the weekend. I needed an awesome mani for the concert I went to on Friday night (Skrillex anyone?) so I figured what could be more amazing than a holo topped off with a Lynnderella?

I started off with OPI DS Coronation.....

And then I topped it with two coats of Lynnderella's The Glittering Crowd....

I don't think I will ever get tired of Lynnderella's The Glittering Crowd. Every single nail looks different. If you look closely, you can see how the colors are different. My ring finger is predominantly red glitter pieces, where my middle finger only has one or two small pieces of red. In person, it looked like the 4th of July on my pointer finger and Mardi Gras on my middle finger lol.

My Economy Ticket - (My Private Jet Franken)

Happy Friiiiday! It's the best day of the week-days! Weeee! 5:30pm today I will be running from my desk to my car, and not thinking about work until Monday morning.

Today I'm showing you my My Private Jet franken. My Private Jet is another polish we all know. I have a dud bottle, and I've been lemming the real thing. I've been watching them sell on Ebay for $50-$75 and I've been thinking about it....but I just couldn't. Then I read on MUA that some girls were buying the "Original MPJ holo", and they turned out to be just duds with SpectraFlair added to them! I don't know how people can do things like that :::shaking my head:::

So, I picked up an extra bottle of DS Original and decided to franken it. I checked numerous blogs, and they also suggest you can use DS Sapphire. I used 1/4 of OPI Black Onyx and 3/4 DS Original. In the bottle photo it looks like only half, but the DS seemed to push the Black Onyx to the sides of the bottle.

Due to the fact that I'm practically broke, I decided to make this comical and call it 'My Economy Ticket'...because we all know the closest I will ever get to a private jet is an airport parking lot LOL.

It's not exact, I'm not even sure if it's close....but it's mine :)
This is NOT my idea, I'm not even sure where it originated, but they are a genius.
What do you think?

OPI DS Original

Do I even need to introduce this polish? I know, we alllll know it. I finally decided to bite the bullet and just order it off of Amazon. I kept bidding on Ebay and losing by a few dollars, so I scored this on Amazon for $22.95 + shipping. It's still available and if it's a lemming and you have some extra cash, grab it while you can!

The photos below are 3 coats of OPI DS Original and a coat of Seche Vite. Photos were taken indoors with a flash.
Enjoy!!

(If my ring finger looks 'odd', it's because I edited just that photo in MS paint. I went crazy with my cuticle trimmer again, and nobody wants to see that lol)

OPI DS Ruby

Hi there! Today's post is on OPI's DS Ruby. I've had this for quite a while and never got around to trying it. When it comes to reds, I'm not a big red fan. In my entire polish stash I probably only have about 15 reds and about 3/4 of those are untried.

DS Ruby is a holographic polish that only packs a punch in the sun. Indoors this looked like a shimmer polish. I wouldn't even call this a "ruby" red as it has some strong pink undertones. I'm a little disappointed. I don't hate it, but I don't know when I'll reach for this again. I know it's HTF and discontinued, so that may be the only reason I hang on to it. I didn't even bother to take indoor photos because they really didn't show much.

The photos below are 2 coats of DS Ruby, a coat of Seche Vite, and a third coat of DS Ruby.

OPI 'DS Temptation'

Good Morning! Today I have one of the two new OPI DS polishes. I had both OPI 'DS Temptation' and 'DS Bold' in my hands but only walked away with 'DS Temptation'At first glance I really liked 'DS Bold'...but then I looked down at it again and it instantly looked like a dupe of China Glaze 'Mrs. Claus'. I don't know if they are an exact dupe since I didn't buy it and compare them side by side, but they are so close if you own one you probably don't need the other.

For the most part I really love the DS series polishes....but these two DS polishes are not like the others. I'm not saying I don't love or like it, I'm saying they aren't the same. I'm not sure why these are classified as DS when they are simply glitter polishes. They don't have the holographic effects of the original DS polishes I'm used to.

The polish is purple, blue, silver and magenta glitter in a BLUE base. I was shocked that it wasn't a purple base. I wanted to show you the base color, so the photo below is 1 coat.

The formula was a bit sheer but buildable. It was decent to work with - not too thick and not too thin. I did three coats of polish to build the color I wanted. IMO it really needs the third coat. I also found that this dried a bit matte, so the photos below are with a coat of Seche Vite.

I added some extra photos so you can see all of the glitter (reminder - you can click the pics to enlarge). While I really like this polish if given the opportunity to purchase this polish again I wouldn't spend the $12.50. Since this is a basic glitter polish I think the $8.50 is more than enough.

What are your thoughts? Will you be purchasing DS Bold or DS Temptation?

OPI - DS Signature

Hello! I hope everyone had a good weekend! I'm super sad it's over due to the fact I have to go to work tomorrow :(

I wore OPI's 'DS Signature' yesterday for the first time in a while. I keep seeing swatches of it on other blogs and falling in love, only to remember that I already own this. I went to the Bronx Zoo yesterday and I knew I would be spending the day outside, so I wanted something super holographic. Unfortunately, the weather yesterday was overcast and humid so my nails were a little less magical than they could have been.

My camera also died while at the zoo, so the following photos were taken with my camera phone. Please excuse the blur.

'DS Signature' is a light pink holographic polish, which in my opinion leans a little mauve. The photos below are three effortless coats. It dries fast and shiny, and it's also incredibly smooth. The formula on this is great.
