I finally cleared off my tables, moved a few things, put a few things away, reorganized more things and dusted off one of the machines. Incredible amount of dust. And flies. Now dead flies. Interesting that they just come out of the woodwoork when the spring sun starts to shine.
My OMG, RSC, and Chookshed Challenge for February was to make progress on the 150 Canadian Women BOW from 2017 to commemorate Canada's 150th birthday. I had enough precut bits to sort out 17 blocks before I had to cut some more pieces. I preped about 24 then decided it was time to actually start sewing. And sewed I did. And I also unsewed. A lot. When I made more mistakes than correct seams, I decided it was time to call it done for this month. After all, what will I do next month? Deana will pull a number tomorrow night and then I can decide to do that project or, yet again, tweak my list and work on something else.
Spring has arrived on our part of Canada. A bit too early for our liking. And the sun has been shining profusely. I think we had 3 major snow storms the entire winter. Yesterday was thunder showers and, you know, thunder. All that snow is gone.
I am planning a Q@F Reunion Retreat for the end of May. We will be sewing for 3 whole days in the new SonRoom.
After waiting for nearly a year to see a specialist, I finally got some cortizone shots in my hands to relieve the arthritic pain that has hindered my hand stitching. So, Lucy is back on the scene.
My To-Do Tuesday list:
- Blog post for To-Do Tuesday, OMG, RSC and Chookshed Challenge.
- Habit tracking - find the link and print off fresh sheets since my daughter's cat knocked over my water glass and soaked all my papers when I visited there last week.
- Change the March challenge to something else since I have that option. Wonder what number will be announced tomorrow night?
- Set my March OMG goal.
- Don't overdue the goal setting.
Hi Chris, what a blessing modern medicine is and such relief in more than one way for you. Lovely room there and beautiful light for stitching. I've shovelled the front steps only three times this winter. Cold but little actual snow on the ground. Lots of ice though. Your Chookshed project is wonderful and special.
ReplyDeleteohhhh! Love your red blocks for your Canadian quilt!! What lovely springtime scenes!
ReplyDeleteThe retreat sounds lovely and what a great view from that room to have it with! We have a similar room with that type of view, though I'd have to remove some furniture to fit three quilters in there now. I used to have my longarm in there and it was a great room to sew in but since I moved my LA up to my studio, I turned our sunroom into a reading room with cozy furniture. We've been unseasonably warm as well but we're back into winter today! Bet you are too up there?
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely room. Perfect for a retreat. Your Canadian blocks are so pretty. You are right though to put them aside if you spend more time unsewing than sewing! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. https://www.inquiringquilter.com/questions/2024/02/28/wednesday-wait-loss-369
ReplyDeleteBlocks are looking good and your plants are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSewing, and unsewing, the story of our lives. But I'm sure you still made great progress on these blocks. That's such a pretty room for stitching, enjoy your time with your friends.
ReplyDeleteYour new sunroom is beautiful! Looks like a wonderful place for some handwork. Have a blessed retreat, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteYour 150 Canadian Women BOW is coming along well...unsewing is no fun - so probably good to give it a rest....That is a gorgeous sunroom - I am very keen to have Autumn and Winter arrive...technically the last day of summer for us today and it's predicted to be 32...UGH
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty good progress for the month. It’s amazing how taking a break from a project can make everything work out better when we resume. Your sunrooms will be the perfect backdrop for a retreat. The light will be so good.
ReplyDeleteUnsewing is not fun.
ReplyDeleteYour sunroom is beautiful. Our winter has been very mild and relatively snow-less, too. Have you kept track as to which Canadian women your blocks are honoring? If you aren't going to make all 150 will you chose blocks on the basis of who they honor or what designs you like? (What a dilemma -- "Emily Carr, you're in. Margaret Atwood, you're out, but don't take it personally.")
ReplyDeleteYou made great progress on your Canadian Women blocks even with all the reverse sewing.
ReplyDeleteWonder what March No will be??

Nice work on your RED blocks and SEW glad to hear that you've got some pain relief on board for your hands, Chris! A retreat in that lovely room sounds blissful.
ReplyDeleteYour red blocks look amazing tho!! sorry about the stitching and unstitching!! what an amazing Son room - it looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris. Is it still spring in your part of the country? We have winter back again and I’m happy to get the snow. I was thrilled to see you saw the specialist and managed to finally get your cortisone shot. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday and sharing the progress on your projects. The Canadian Women blocks are just beautiful. I’m looking forward to seeing how this week has gone. 😉 Carol https://quiltschmilt.ca/
