MONUMENTO KEN FOLLETT - VITORIA, ESPANHA

Junto á Catedral de Santa Maria fiquei surpreendida por encontrar uma estátua de um Ken Follett pensativo, acho que é a única estátua do escritor inglês em todo o mundo e não é fácil á primeira entender porque é que está aqui, em Vitória e tão perto de um dos principais monumentos da cidade. É verdade que em algum lugar vi uma reportagem sobre a Catedral e a sua remodelação que deu origem a uma inovadora maneira de fazer turismo, visitar este lugar sagrado conhecendo ao detalhe o seu trabalho de restauro. Ken Follett foi dos que mais elogiou este lugar e esta nova forma de visitá-lo mas não foi esse o principal motivo de este monumento.

 

Near the Cathedral of Santa Maria I was surprised to find a statue of a Ken Follett thoughtful, think it's the only statue of the English writer in the world and not easy at first understand why you are here in Victoria and so close to one of the main monuments. It is true that somewhere saw a report about the Cathedral and its remodeling that resulted in an innovative way to sightsee, visit this sacred place knowing to detail its restoration work. Ken Follett was one of the most praised this place and this new way to visit him but that was not the main reason for this monument.

O real nome é o Charging Bull mas é muito conhecido como the Wall Street bull é quase motivo de romaria e local onde tens que tirar uma fotografia sim ou sim.  Talvez por isso seja realmente dificil apreciá-lo por entre a multidão que o rodeia cada um a tentar tirar a foto mais original ainda assim não deixa de ser um símbolo que queres conhecer e fazer um tracinho na tua lista. 

Esta escultura de bronze criada por Arturo di Modica não está realmente na rua Wall Street mas sim no Bowling Green park que fica ali perto.

It's real name is the Charging Bull but is widely known as the Wall Street bull is almost cause for pilgrimage and you have to take a picture close to him no matter what. Também conhecido por Petit Julien, o Manneken Pis é um fenómeno e um símbolo da Bélgica. A verdade é que custa a acreditar que uma escultura de pouco mais de 30cm de um menino a fazer xixi pudesse ter tanto impacto na cultura de um país. E digam o que disserem sobre o seu tamanho a verdade é que uma vez em Bruxelas é indispensável vê-lo pelo menos uma vez.

 

Also known as Petit Julien, the Manneken Pis is a phenomenon and a symbol of Belgium. The truth is that is hard to believe that a sculpture of a little more than 30cm from a boy making pee could have such impact on the culture of a country. And say what you will about his size the truth is that once in Brussels it's essential to see him at least once.

We received a map of Poitiers in our hotel that had this square marked as tourist interest. By using a drawing of a Statue of Liberty, this design whose size (height) was superior to the church Notre-Dame-la-Grande, leaving us hoping to see something large ...
