Sketch Saturdays - Numero Uno!

Yay! My first post for my weekly segment I'm calling Sketch Saturdays. Every Saturday I'll be posting a project based on a sketch, found or created by me. Today's sketch was found on Pinterest. The link lead me to Basic Grey. Here's the sketch...

…and here's my design:

My design is loosely based on the sketch, but you can still see it, even though I omitted a couple of things. :) When I looked at the sketch, I immediately saw a flower pot with flowers bursting out of it, so that's what I created. The pot was easy. And so were the flowers for that matter, thanks to the Flower Shop stamp set and coordinating Pansy Punch!

I've been dying to play along at Colour Me…! and so I'm thrilled to be entering this into the challenge this week. It's a two-colour challenge - Melon Mambo & Marina Mist. My neutral colour is Early Espresso. Since there were only two main colours to work with, I stamped off the flower image three times to get varying shades of Melon Mambo. This, along with curling the petals & popping up the flowers at different heights, gave a lot of dimension to the card.

Until next time, stay crafty!
Steph

RECIPE:
Paper: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Marina Mist
Ink: Melon Mambo
Stamps: Flower Shop, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Tools: Big Shot, Stripes TIEF, Square Lattice TIEF, Pansy Punch
Challenge: Colour Me…!

Pierced Ornaments

Today I have another Christmas card I created. The only stamp I used on this card is for the sentiment. The rest is paper pierced. Check it out:

Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Ink: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Early Espresso
Stamps: More Merry Messages
Tools: Big Shot, Stripes TIEF, Paper Piercing
Accessories: Jewels, Stitched
 Satin Ribbon
I used the ornament Paper Piercing Template to pierce my ornaments of choice. Once that was done, I used my Stampin' Write Markers to "connect the dots"... this gives the look of stitching. I fooled around a bit with my Blender Pen and moved some the ink around to give the ornaments some colour.

I added some ribbon to the top of each ornament and A LOT of bling with some jewels.

Until next time, stay crafty!

Circle Butterfly CASE

I created this card a while back, but never got the opportunity to post it. So long ago in fact that I forget now who I CASEd this card from or where I even came across it! :s Sorry!

Paper: Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Lovely Flowers DSP (retired)
Tools: Circle Punches, Butterfly Punch
Accessories: Jewels
Is this card clean & simple (CAS) or what?! Sometimes simplicity is best, although, I can't believe I didn't do any stamping on this card! I popped up all the circles and added some small jewels for some bling. I think the Stripes TIEF was the best choice for this card... I think I'll even create more just like this, but in different colour tones. I like it so much!

Until next time, stay crafty!
Steph

P.S. Don't forget that the SU! Retiring List will be posted tonight at midnight (MDT)!

For the Babes at Sunday Stamps

Kathya's got a great sketch challenge this week over at Sunday Stamps... perfect to get your creativity flowing!

Paper: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Basic Grey
Stamps: Patterned Occasions (SAB), That's the Ticket, Itty Bitty Banners
Tools: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots & Stripes TIEF's, Scallop Circle & 1-1/4" Circle & Ticket Duo Punches
Accessories: Pearls, Ribbon

When SU! announced their "Colour Refresh" last week, I thought that I should use up and showcase some of the retiring colours. These three are perfect for baby cards - soft & subtle! I played around a lot with texture and dimension. I popped up the elephant image and if you think the little pearl accents aren't SU!, think again! I coloured our pearls using Sharpies. :)

Check out what the rest of the wonderful design team has created and then post your design. We love seeing your creations. You have until Friday evening.

Until next time, stay crafty!
