50th Wedding Anniversary Card - Altenew

Hello! This past Sunday we celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! I shared some photos over on Instagram if you want to see them - and the beautiful cake my sister made for them! For such an important occasion, I wanted to make a super special card for them! I also shared a sneak peek of this card last week on Instagram, but since they have now received it, I am free to post it here!

Lots of love, time, and effort went into this card - and I am so pleased with how it came out! I loved how it sort of matched the cake my sister made - without even trying. I used some of the newest release from Altenew that I had the privilege of guest designing for this past week - and it was perfect for what I wanted to create!

I started off by cutting and assembling lots of the new Garden Picks 3D Die Set in shades of pink, rose, and white, and the leaves from some nice soft greens. I also heat embossed the large Fancy Frame in gold on vellum, and die cut it with the Coordinating Dies.

I created a white cardbase that was nice a large - 5x7 inches to use as a canvas for my creation. I did it this large for two reasons - first of all so that I could fit everything on, but also since I was sharing it with my siblings and their family so we could all sign it together I needed plenty of room for us all to sign on the inside! I layered the frame and all the florals on the card front until I was happy with the arrangement, then picked it all up with a large piece of Press and Seal, applied foam adhesive on the back (hiding the foam adhesive on the vellum under the floral elements), and pressed it back into place on my cardfront.

I discovered I seem to have a fairly sad shortage of anniversary sentiments, but happily found the perfect one on a much older set, Vintage Roses, and heat embossed that on a thin strip of black cardstock. The flower that it is tucked under wasn't adhered down fully, since the foam didn't cover the entire area, so I was able to pull it up a bit, sneak the sentiment banner under, and then adhere it with a bit of fresh foam over the top of that for extra dimension. I also did that with the bottom far right flower so it had a bit more dimension as well.

I masked off the sentiment a bit, then added some gold splatters with my Starry Colors Palette and a waterbrush. The final finishing touch is some Metallic Gold Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh for extra sparkle! Since it was their "golden" anniversary, I wanted to make sure there was plenty of gold on there as well!

Pretty Pink Posh - March Release Blog Hop and Giveaway

Good morning! Today is the second day of the hop to celebrate the new Pretty Pink Posh Spring Release - SOOOO many fun new stamps, dies, and of course, embellishments!

I made a set of four Easter cards - I absolutely love when I can put several cards together at the same time, all with a similar layout, but in different colors or images to give them each a different feel!

I used the brand new Easter Blessings Stamp set with the coordinating Easter Blessings Dies for my cards. I also used the fun new Stitched Notes Die for the background of my cards - there are lots of fun little elements in there, as well as this stitched rectangle that is the perfect size for a card front!

I stamped the images on watercolor paper and colored with my Zig Markers. I added Scallop Oval Die frame for a focal point to ground the images, popped up with foam tape for dimension. The sentiments were heat embossed in white under the framed area.

Final finishing touch was the fun new Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix - I know this is going to be a favorite of mine! Like sequins, but no holes - perfect for dimension and sparkle without a lot of heavy bulk. SO fun!

What do you think? Do you have a favorite stamp set from the new release?

Baby Card

Just realized I hadn't share this card yet! This was for my sister who asked me to make a baby shower card for her sister-in-law who is having a little girl. Here is what I came up with:
.
I used a Spellbinders Die that I won recently, and couldn't wait to try!
I stamped a sentiment from a Unity Stamp set with some Paptertrey ink dye ink, then inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink, and added a couple of stick on pearls.
I pulled out some crinkle ribbon to thread through, and then pop-dotted the die cut from the background.
The pattern paper is from My Mind's Eye, and I also inked the edge of that with the Papertrey ink I used for the sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend - and don't forget to change your clocks forward for Daylight savings!!!

What's brewin'?

Had an interesting day yesterday...actually, it's just been an interesting week! Started off the week on Sunday night, getting my daughter in my lap while I was sitting in my scrapbooking chair, and leaning back to snuggle her...only forgetting that the chair didn't have a back! Yep - fell smack back on our hardwood floor head and neck first!!! Took a couple days of visits to the chiropractor to even be able to move! So, on Wednesday we got nearly a foot of snow, and then it just got really cold. Then we woke up yesterday to a broken furnace!!! Fortunately, we were able to get it fixed, and it was lovely to wake up to a WARM house this morning!!!

Anyway, this is the card I made while my hubby was trying to work on the furnace. I needed something to do, and also needed to stay OUT of his way!!! I was a little distracted (and COLD!) so it took a little longer than normal, but I finally got it done, with the help a friend who was over. We had a mixed up day - were supposed to go shopping together in preparation for a baby shower this weekend. Finally made it out the door though!

So for this card, I used another Unity Stamp from my grab bags, added a Peachy Keen face, a Papertrey Ink sentiment, a button, and some Baker's Twine. Needed to think of something warm and cozy I guess! Anyway, thanks for looking!

Love blooms...

Good morning! Wanted to quickly share this card I made a few days ago, using a digital image. (not quite sure who it is by anymore...) This was my first time using something like this on a card, so it was a bit challenging for me, but I think I like the end results!

Printed the image out on cardstock, colored it in a bit with colored pencils, then cut it out by hand. The red frame around it was cut from the Preserves cartridge, and I put Glossy Accents on that part. Threaded some ribbon through and attached it with brads and pop dotted the circle from the card. Added a border punched with a Martha Stewart border punch, some stick on pearls, and finished with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink stamped with white ink.
