Birthday Sheep Box Card - Pretty Pink Posh March Release Blog Hop

Good morning! I'm excited today to be hopping along for Day 3 of a 3 day blog hop to celebrate the BRAND NEW March Release from Pretty Pink Posh (also available in a bundle HERE if you just want it all!)! There is such a fun mix of products in this release! Keep reading for more info, details on my card I'm sharing today, AND of course, some giveaway info at the bottom as well!

I'm so excited today to share my first EVER box card - I wasn't going to at first, because interactive cards tend to intimidate me a bit, but the Scallop Box Card die intrigued me so much, I couldn't resist. I'm so glad too - since it was SOOO easy to use!

I also spotted the adorable sheep in the Easter Sentiments set, and since my mother has collected sheep for as long as I remember, I knew I wanted to make her a special birthday card. The timing was perfect - YESTERDAY was her 76th birthday, and now that she is in memory care, I really wanted to make something extra special for her. Dementia is a terrible thing - and all I can say is that SOOO much love went into the making of this card. I love how cardmaking gives us a way to channel all those emotions, don't you?

I started by assembling the cute box card, cutting all the base pieces from white cardstock, then added the scallop layers using some MFT plaid pattern paper. The added texture is super fun, and helped ground my scene.

Then I stamped and colored lots of the sheep and flowers from Easter Sentiments, and die cut them with the coordinating dies. I actually did more than I ended up using, but it never hurts to have extras, right?

I also stamped some tufts of grass and clouds from the cute Spring Chicks set. I colored those, and die cut them out as well, tucking them in place on my scene.

I die cut my main sentiment using the new Mom/Mother Shadow dies - using red cardstock for the main word, and vellum for the shadow layer, and adhered that on the front of my box card.

I added the Happy Birthday from the previously released Birthday Balloon set, and the Just for You from the cute new Spring Jar set.

I mean, isn't the size the cutest thing ever?!?

And I love that it folds flat to fit in your envelope, and easily pops up when you pull it out of the envelope!

I definitely see more box cards in my future! :)

Make a Wish Plaid Birthday Cards - Simon Says Stamp

Good morning! I'm popping in to share a little set of cards I made last month and never got around to posting, using a die from the DieCember release from Simon Says Stamp - a fun word die, secondary sentiment stamp, and some fun plaid paper made these cards come together so quickly!

The Make a Wish wafer die is the perfect size for a focal point on a card - for these, I die cut it from matte gold cardstock as well as white cardstock, and adhered those layers together slightly offset for a shadow effect. I then die cut the shadow layer from vellum to add a touch of softness to set it off from the background.

I then die cut some rectangle panels from MFT Joyful Plaid 6x6 paper pad - I just love a pretty pattern paper, and plaids are one of my favorites! These made a great base for my die cut sentiments.

I adhered each of those with some layers of paper scraps to add a touch of dimension, but not as much as full on foam panels. It was also a great way to use up some scraps. Another alternative is the Simon Says Stamp Big Momma foam tape roll - it is thinner than most foam adhesive rolls, and I love using it when I want slightly less dimension!

I used thin foam strips on the back of each of the die cut sentiments to adhere them in place over those foam panels, hiding it behind the more solid die cut parts so it didn't show through the vellum layer.

I wanted to add some secondary sentiments, so I pulled out my Tiny Words Birthday stamp set, and chose a few that worked well with the large main sentiment. I trimmed those down into thin strips, and also adhered those with thin foam strips.

They still just needed one tiny thing - so, I pulled out some of my Pinkfresh Studio Glitter Drops and added one in a coordinating color to each of the dots on the "i" in the sentiment. It's a little thing, but I love how it just elevates the design on these!

I also wanted to mention that I used Simon Says Stamp Basic Rectangle dies to cut out the plaid paper. You can easily just trim the pattern paper down as well. I love the finished edge you get with a die cut, and it also allowed me to center the plaid where I wanted before cutting.

You can also add as much or as little dimension to this design as you like! I tried to keep it more reasonable on these - since I wanted to be able to pop them in the mail easily if I wanted.

STAMPtember Collaboration - Kitchen Sink Stamps

Hello - and HAPPY STAMPtember - a month long party by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate all things stamping.

Today we are getting to see the next in the progression of the special SUPER SECRET collaboration stamp sets that will be happening throughout the month! Today we have...Kitchen Sink Stamps!

As with most layering stamps, I can't resist stamping more than one color combination! If you have a MISTI stamping tool, it is so easy once you have them lined up, it always seems a shame to skip the opportunity! And it is so fun to see how different color combinations work.

I'm going to share this one first - because I love non-traditional color combinations, and I think this one came out super fun! In hindsight, I almost wish I had used mint or sage green instead of purple as the accent color, but still thought this was fun. :)

I used several different Simon Says Stamp gray inks to stamp the layers of the pumpkin on this one - I really wanted it to be a nice neutral version of the pumpkin. I then used a combination of blue inks for the stem, and then some purples and a bit of navy for the layers of the leaves.

I stamped the sentiments with some mid tones of the grays and purples, fussy cut the pumpkin to pop up on foam adhesive, rounded a couple corners, and then popped the entire panel on some pattern paper from My Mind's Eye.

I added a little twine bow to the top of the pumpking, and do you see the sprinkle of coordinating Pretty Pink Posh jewels sprinkled around the leaves for sparkle as well?

And then, of course, I had to do one in more traditional colors as well!

For this one, I used an array of Pinkfresh Studio inks - I love how realistic the pumpkin looks!

I did the same thing for the basic layout of the card - just the colors changed on this one.

This card features pattern paper from My Favorite Things for the background, and some yellow Pretty Pink Posh jewels to coordinate with the more traditional colors.

What do you think? Do you prefer traditional, or non-traditional colors?

STAMPtember Collaboration - Newton's Nook

Hello - and HAPPY STAMPtember - a month long party by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate all things stamping.

Today we are getting to see the next in the progression of the special SUPER SECRET collaboration stamp sets that will be happening throughout the month! Today we have...Newton's Nook!

These little critters and matching sentiments are so much fun!

I colored up this little cutie and fussy cut the image out to add to my card.

I used some fun plaid paper from My Favorite Things, and a die cut circle of white cardstock layered over the top of that to add my sentiment and those two little paw prints.

And I couldn't resist adding that little critter on an action wobble! Haven't done that in a while - and it was super fun! Here is a look at it in action:

STAMPtember Collaboration - Hero Arts AND Ink Blot Shop

Hello - and HAPPY STAMPtember - a month long party by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate all things stamping.

Today we are getting to see the next in the progression of the special SUPER SECRET collaboration stamp sets that will be happening throughout the month! Today we have not one but TWO companies - and I have a card for both of them! First up - Hero Arts!

For this card I created a blended background with Distress Oxide inks, and added my images in a silhouette style on that background!

I used Wild Honey, Crackling Campfire (of course!), and Dusty Concord for my blended background, masking off the lower portion of my panel, and added a good bit of splatters with Perfect Pearls for sparkle and texture.

Next, I used my MISTI to stamp the images and sentiments on it, staggering them over that line I masked off. I kind of wish I'd moved the bench down ever so slightly, but had to roll with it as it was! Finished off with a bit of jute twine tied in a knot for texture, and mounted the entire thing on an Ivory cardbase to contrast slightly with the white panel.

Here is a better look at this fun set:

And next up - we have Ink Blot Shop!

This card has the cutest images for creating fun scenes - so I rolled with that!

I stamped everything in Copic friendly ink on white cardstock - using the straight line with the tent and the trees to stamp off the edges at different heights to add some depth to the scene.

I colored it all in with Copics markers in soft colors, and added a ground under the images to give them a stable place to rest. Finished off by mounting it on some coordinating plaid pattern paper from My Favorite Things to finish off!

And here is a closer look at this adorable set:
