I Am SO A Helper

Mom's been on this wrapping kick. She got all her scarves crocheted over the Thanksgiving holiday so now she has all her presents ready for shipping. That means some of the boxes, including some perfectly Pilchard-sized boxes are going to be refilled with stuff, taped shut and shipped off to all sorts of places. She put everything in the recliner last Saturday which left no room for Mija and I to sleep in it and she's got the really soft blanket on the seat this time. The indignity. I've had to actually sleep in a chair or on her bed, although I don't mind the bed at all.

Slowly, mom's been wrapping everything and putting it in these things she calls shopping bags. She's been taking a full one every morning and coming back with it empty. Then, she fills it up again and takes another one. She comes home, drops the empty one on the floor, sighs and looks at what's left to wrap. I have to "remind" her that it's treat time when she comes home or she jumps into more wrapping and packing. She looked at me last night and said next year I have to remind her that part of making home made gifts is having to ship them and that's the part that's been kinda hard this year.

I like helping mom with the wrapping part.

First of all, she got out the table and I had to make sure there was enough room on it for presents and the paper. When it met my approval, mom told me I had to sit on the ottoman and watch. I didn't want to watch. I wanted to help.

The last of the packages gets wrapped tonight. Then she's putting away the pretty paper. I figure if there is enough room for me to sit, then there's enough room to wrap a scarf. Mom made me get down. She said she couldn't cut the paper with me sitting on it. I think she could just cut around me.

See you next week.
