Julie- Our Strange Winter Continues

Julie: We are in the last week of February and our strange
Winter continues. I am on the porch looking outside.
It was raining  and Mom went out to shovel  the
snow before it froze. The snow was wet and heavy.

I am now checking out Mom`s shovel. It smells interesting.

Mom, I think you will need a new shovel soon.
Hopefully the Winter will end before this shovel wears out.
Can you see how worn out it is?

This latest storm brought lots of rain that we do not need.
Lucky for us, we did not have any flooding on the roads
like they did in town. We did have lots of fog though.
Across the street is a lake. As you can see, it is covered in fog.

This deck is on the other side of the green porch door
in the picture above. We can see the lake from this  deck.
As you can see, it is wet from the rain.

This deck is in the back of the house. As you can see,
it has not been shovelled all Winter.
That is a lot of snow, but Mom is not going to move it.
She said Mr Sunshine can do that.

Today is overcast and there are some flurries around.
Mom says it will get very cold tonight!
Like I said, this weather is very strange.
How is your weather?

What Do You Want Me to Do?

Mom went to the grocery on Saturday. We got a blizzard through here starting on Saturday night and she couldn't get out on Sunday or Monday morning until the neighbors came by with those really noisy machines which opened up the driveway so she didn't have to shovel.

It's fine when the noise is in the driveway down by the street. I'll even sit in the window and watch. But when they get up near the house, well, both Mija and me will go hide to get away from the noise.

So mom brought home a bunch of these paper bags.

She likes using them when she cleans our litter boxes because they sit upright. She dropped one on the floor for me to sniff.

There were some interesting smells. I sniffed all around the bag.

So now what? It's a bag. I've sniffed it all over. I even went inside to sniff, but it's boring in there. Mom says I'm silly, that cats love paper bags. Meh. Whatever.

Do you like paper bags? Am I missing something here?

What Is This?

Mom went grocery shopping on Saturday. When she came home, she left the back door open while she unloaded the car. I came to see what was going on and she called to me to come outside onto the deck.

Whoa. What is this stuff?

Okay, I've come over here to say, "Hi" and get an ear scratch. I do not think I like this.

I'm going back inside. This stuff is cold.

I hope you don't have to be out in this.

See you next week.

Wake Me Later

So  mom said something about there being a "new" year coming. I liked the old one. Didn't seem to be anything wrong with it, so why get a new one?

In the Chicagoland area, where we live, that new one came in with a bang. It started when mom got home early from work, grabbed the broom and started sweeping the deck. She continued to do that, off and on, for the next day. There was a pile at the end by the stairs.

No, I didn't go out in it. Are you crazy? Mom was supposed to go to work today but she stayed home to shovel off the deck, shovel out the Jeep, shovel the front steps and to the mailbox. She started shoveling part of the driveway until the neighbor across the street with a really loud machine came over and made the snow go whoosh. Now the sun is out and mom says it's supposed to get really cold.

You know what? Wake me when it's warm.

I'm just gonna sleep on the bed.

Happy New Year, everyone. See you next week.

Pilchard.

Midnight Monday with Tillie

Guess what???
We got snow this weekend!!!
We have had a little bit of snow before,
but it did not last.

You can see it out this window.

Saturday there was a little snow.

Sunday, we got more snow!!
Looks like Mom will have to shovel
this batch, heehee

I like to look out the kitchen window.

I can see Earl sitting on his tree.
This was on Saturday.

Now Earl is getting ready to eat the
seeds Mom put out.

On Sunday,Mom cleaned this spot for Earl's seeds.
The snow covered it up again.
Earl is not deterred, he likes to dig
 for his seeds!!
Gee, I hope Earl is not buried!!

Did you know that today is
Misses Peach's 18th Birthday???
Please drop by and help her celebrate!!!!!
