You know mom brought home, back in May, this tree for us to sit in. I just recently discovered something fantastic about it. Look.
The posts are purrfect for scratching! I'm so excited. When I jump up on the seats, I can stretch out and get a good scratch.
This tree thing is so much better than the back of the recliners or the rattan ottoman. The side of the box springs is still pretty cool though. Mom just sighs.
What I like best is after a good scratch, I can sit and watch mom.
I get the right level for ear scratching.
You know, I don't think I want mom to rearrange the living room to move this. This thing is so much fun now that I know what it's for.

Queen of All I Survey
When Mom took her vacation last month, she went to see Faux. Faux lived in our house for a year before moving with mom's daughter. She calls him her "grand kitty". Faux moved to Seattle for a time and then moved all the way across the country to Virginia, with a stop in Connecticut. When he and mom's daughter came through Chicagoland, they stopped at the house. We figured out a way to get along.
Faux has been an only cat for awhile. Recently, he got a brother. Tobey's family got one of those things called "dawgs" and it was making Tobey's life miserable. So mom's daughter took Tobey in and he and Faux get along very well. Tobey's family gave mom's daughter a cat tree. Faux and Tobey are too big for it so mom brought it home for us. They had to take it apart to fit in the trunk of the car.
It sat on our floor for over a week before mom decided to put it together. It has new and different smells on it. Mija and I had to thoroughly check it out.
Here it is, all assembled. It's kinda tall.
Mom put it on the floor. We weren't sure what to make of it. She had to pick me up and put me on it.
I can smell Faux and Tobey on this.
Hmmmm. I think this has potential. I haven't been up on the top step, yet. I'm just getting used to sitting here or on the bottom step. It's comfy, though.
It does take up room in the living room. Mom says she needs to move things around so she can put this somewhere where we can look out the windows while we lie on it. Oooooh! Squirrel TV AND a place to sleep. I think a girl could get used to this. Plus, mom gave me treats while I was lying here.
I let my sister sit on it, but she's not as interesting in it as I am.
Mom says we can use the columns to scratch, but I think the back of the recliner is the best place even if mom sighs.
See you next week.

Springshine
We've been seeing more of this sunshine stuff in Chicagoland. I like how warm it feels on my fur.
Mom says spring is a time for new beginnings. I have begun to like this new scratching post she got for us.
Sunshine. Toys. Yes, it's spring.
See you next week.

Toys
Like any self-respecting beauty, I like to keep my nails neat...and then I jump off of mom's lap and she says something like, "Whoa. Gotta trim those nails." Ugh. I just get them to where I like them and she lops off the ends. Intrudes on my personal space...oh look. Treats. Never mind. What was I saying?
Oh yeah. My nails. Mom provides us a place to scratch but we do tend to use the back of her recliner where it's up against the wall a little too much. So, she decided to get us something a bit more sturdy than those cardboard things that don't last very long and seem to attract a lot of dust.
There was some assembly required, which is always humorous to watch, from the corner behind the plant stand.
Mom did a good job of attaching the post to the base and then she put it on the floor for us ...
to ignore, just like we ignored the big box her new printer came in. Oh I used the box for a month but it no longer interests me. Mom was sad but we need to get used to new.
After a few hours, I decided to check this thing out.
Needs more Pilchard on it, that's for sure. And, oh, what's this?
Hey, those dangly things can be batted around and they don't go under the recliner! Well now, a girl could get used to this.
But wait. Here's the best part.
The box it came in.
See you next week.
