Stygian Saturdays: Stretch!
Stygia: There are many ways to show love and longing for your favorite humans, cats, or others... sometimes, I meow outside a door when I know Mr. R is inside and I am not. But I also love Ms. C, and she gives me lots of belly rubbings and ear scratchings and lets me sit on her lap.
One of my favorite ways to exhibit my love is by stretching and touching my paw to her:

How do you show YOUR love?

Stygian Saturdays on Sundays!
Hi everyone! I am a day late, and it's all my mom's fault. She was out all day yesterday and came home exhausted. But I was overjoyed to see her when she got home, as you can see:
I love my mom! And would you like to see a very close-up of my belly? It is very dark and stygian:

Stygian Saturdays
Stygian Saturdays are back!
It's been so long since I've posted. Since it has been so long, I shall re-introduce myself. My name is Stygia, and I am a 2 and a half year old House Panther. Aside from this blog, I share another one with my tabby step-sister Abby, called T'Abby Normal & the Stygian Panther.
People often ask how I got the name Stygia. It wasn't the name I had when they adopted me from the SPCA last August, but I like it. I never responded to my former name (Bear), but my new people talk to me a lot, and so I do respond to my new, better name. Here's something from the dictionary:

Well, I'm not a gloomy girl, but I am very dark. In the picture you see of me above, I am actually smiling -- when I am really happy, my fangs peep out!

Stygian Saturdays
Hi everyone! My name is Stygia, and I am a House Panther. Welcome to the weekend. Well, most humans seem to care intently about weekends, so ... (whispers) we House Panthers know how to be discreet. We won't mention that every day is a weekend day for us.
Ahem. (shows fangs)
This weekend I have been fortunate enough to get some time to play with my favorite toys without my sister Abby noticing! If you have any idea how playful she is, or have a crazy and playful sister or brother yourself, you will understand what a feat of nature this was.
Here I am playing with the feather-butted mouse toy:
Here is an even crazier picture. You see, there is a big pile of nip on the floor which I am consuming at a leisurely pace, and in spite of the fact that she is only a couple of feet away, she doesn't even come out to check out what I am doing! I really can't enjoy my nip properly if she is too close to me. She always tries to bite me when I just want to roll around.

Stygian Saturdays
For today's episode of Stygian Saturdays, I thought it might be a good occasion to display my paws for you, both back and front. My paw pads are dark, but I run around so much (all my sister's fault!) that they have a roughened look to them:

Stygian Saturdays
Hi everyone, it's me, Stygia. You can call me Styggie if you like. I've had a rough week because for most of it, my favorite person was away. We asked and asked and asked our other person in the house, "Where is she? Where?!" I did not actually care where she was, I just wanted her to return home, where she belongs, but I began to fear she never would.
But now she is back! And I am so, soooo happy. In fact, I am sharing her chair with her, sitting right behind her and helping her to stay warm, right as we speak. I never sat here before, but now I have to make sure I stay close by so I know exactly where she is.
This Saturday, let us all spend the day cuddling and being happy that our favorite people are here. Well, you don't have to -- if you're a House Panther, you should pretty much be able to do whatever you want. But I know what I'm going to be doing today!

Stygian Satudays, Part II
Hello, fellow Panthers and Panther-Minions, it is I, Stygia. I am very impressed with our friend Diamond's artwork featured today on House Panthers, thank you my friends! Purr Mickey's encouraging comments in my blog, I am going to post my "PlayCat Centerfold" picture Ms. C took of me this morning:
Vital Stats:
Name: Stygia, the Stygian Panther
Age: Two years and one month
Eyes: Lime
Weight: 9.5 pounds
Turn Ons: Catnip, treats, butt-scratchings, being talked to, being fed, furry mice.
Turn Offs: Loud noises, water from the squirt bottle, being bitten in the butt by my sister Abby.
Um, so someone asked about the butt-biting I mentioned in my comment on the previous blog entry. It's a little embarrassing to admit something like this could happen to me as I am the alpha cat in the house, but I will share it. Check out the picture Diamond posted in the previous entry and then check out the pictures here, you'll see that little tabby rascal and what she does!

Stygian Saturdays
Hi! Stygia here. I must apologise to everyone for missing the past two Stygian Saturdays. However, I am back, and today I thought we could talk about some proper ways for a House Panther to utilize a sun-spot. I bet you can come up with a lot more, but here are a few of my favorites:
The sun is a great place to have your portrait taken. Sometimes, I really like hiding my body in my cat condo and letting my face and paws get all warm in the friendly beams. It makes me feel so relaxed and allows my humans to get a very nice "natural" and happy pose:
The sun is a great paw-warming place, of course, but it can also highlight to your humans that you really need to have your claws clipped. This is both a blessing and a curse. I mean, who likes being captured and held against their will while they squeeze paws and then snap at them with metal devices? But those thoughts will not keep my paws out of the sun.
Last, but certainly not least, the sun is a terrific place to enjoy your NIP! The greatest advantage that I find is that the warmth of the sun allows for a quicker release of that lovely scent. If you are a human, then perhaps I could describe it to you as the difference between potpourri sitting in a cold dish versus potpourri sitting in a bowl of water with a candle burning beneath it. It's much better warm! Be sure to get all the catnip through your fur, too.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! If you'd like to see more of me and my sister too, visit us over at T'Abby Normal.

Stygian Saturdays: The First
Greetings, my fellow House Panthers, and welcome to the first of Stygian Saturdays! My name is Stygia, and I am a very investigative reportcat.
You may be wondering to yourself, "Why Stygian?" Well, first of all because that is my name. That part is of course obvious! However, I realize that everycat may not have encountered this word before, so here is a link that will explain to you why I have my name, and the definition of the word stygian.
Each Saturday I will be doing a feature on a variety of subjects important to us House Panthers. This week's is going to be short due to me needing to attend to some family issues and me needing to be there for them. However, I will cover one important topic: The Proper Surroundings For A House Panther.
Here, I am demonstrating being in a proper location for a House Panther. What makes it so proper? Well, most importantly, the hamper I am occupying is black. A House Panther should strive for harmony in his or her surroundings, because we want to look our best at all times. Any black surface or material will do. For instance, if your human wears black pants to work and comes home and lays them on the bed before hanging them up, a proper House Panther will immediately sit down on the pants. Be sure to look so comfortable that your human will feel bad if he or she tries to move you or remove the pants.

All right! Now that we have covered that basic tenant, I would like to encourage you to leave a comment here for me suggesting anything you'd like to see here in the future. You may also send email to me at the address I share with my sister, tabbynormal @ gmail dot com. If you write to Dear Stygia for advice, I will try my very best to answer your question on my next Saturday! Also be sure to visit my sister and I at our regular blog, Tabby Normal and the Stygian Panther. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
