But...But...

What's that you say, mom? It's time to take this tree thing down? You took all the dangly things off. I really didn't play that much with them this year.

Without all that stuff you had under this tree, I can get close enough to sniff and, maybe, to nibble.

What do you mean, stop that? I didn't eat it. I just tasted.

Fine, I bet I can play with the branches. They are fuzzy, like some of my toys.

Now what? You don't like me doing that, either? Sheesh. I can't have any fun. Fine. I'll just lie down then.

I like this tree skirt thing. It's soft and it has some really nice smells on it.

Mom finally took this tree thing down over the weekend. I was kind of sad but it means I got my spot on the table back. I kind of wish mom would have left the skirt thingee for me to lie on but she said it needed to go back into the box. Oh well. There's always next Christmas.

Love,

Pilchard

Is It Over Yet?

So the humans celebrate these holidays called "Christmas" and "New Years". Mom put up a small tree on my spot on the living room table. I was not amused.

Then, these two people I don't know came and stayed for a week. They brought packages and boxes and these suitcase things with them. They slept in MY bed. They somehow convinced mom to leave with them on Tuesday last week and she didn't come back until Thursday. There was this guy who came to feed us, give us fresh water and clean the litter boxes. He seems sort of nice, but he's not mom.

On Saturday, the front door was left open.

I don't know what was going on, but there was all this activity with stuff being moved out of the house. It was really nice, too, for the end of December, so I had to go outside to sniff.

Then those people, who had been in our house for a week, came toward the front door. I ran back into the house. They came inside and hugged mom. I just sat there watching. I don't know if I like, wait...

Oh dear. The one they called "Larry" gave me chin scratches, really good chin scratches.

And the one they called "Carole" scratched me all over. What's a girl to do? They were really nice scratches.

They left and we all took a nap. Best part, my sleeping spot's back.

Hope you had a wonderful, snoozy, Christmas and that your New Year starts out great.

On The Island With Ernie

This is why our Christmas tree never gets put up early.

Hey, isn't this what a tree is for???
