My All Too Short Adventure!

Julie: Yesterday it was warm and sunny on the porch.
I did enjoy myself and had a great nap in the sun.
It was good, but another day was better!

Last week, mum went out on the front deck to take a picture
of her Burning Bush. She was only going to be a few minutes
so she left the door open while she stepped out.

You guessed it! I was pretty fast out the door too!
Oooooooo! This was cool and exciting.

I had to check it out!

Gee, did I hear someone calling my name?

Seriously?
You want me to come in?
Now?

Well, I did not come and mum came and got me and
took me inside.
Dang!
She is thinking that I might like a harness.
Hmmmmmm!

On the Deck

These are the days mom likes. They are warm and sunny. If she likes them, that means the window in the office is open and I can go outside.

Because mom's college football team isn't always on TV, she will sit at her computer and listen to it. The deck railing is level with the window so it's easy for me to step outside in the warm air and sunshine. I decided to see what was in this pot on the railing.

The plants have died for the season because we had a frost. I see squirrels digging in here, but I don't see what they are digging for.

I walk back and forth, from the window to the edge.

Or, I lie down on the ledge. It's perfectly Pilchard-sized.

Mom likes taking my photo in the sunshine because she says it shows that black cats have all sorts of colors in their fur.

I don't know about colors. I just know that the sunshine feels really good.

Mom says I can stay outside so long as I don't leave the deck railing. She leaves the back door open and I'll jump down and come inside when I get too warm. Most of the time, I just sit and look. There are birds in the sky and I can hear squirrels yelling at me.

Pretty soon, mom says, she won't be able to open the windows and we'll get this stuff called "snow". I think I remember that. It makes this white stuff on the deck that's cold when I walk on it.

I like these warm weekend days like mom does.

Love,

Pilchard

Is It Over Yet?

So the humans celebrate these holidays called "Christmas" and "New Years". Mom put up a small tree on my spot on the living room table. I was not amused.

Then, these two people I don't know came and stayed for a week. They brought packages and boxes and these suitcase things with them. They slept in MY bed. They somehow convinced mom to leave with them on Tuesday last week and she didn't come back until Thursday. There was this guy who came to feed us, give us fresh water and clean the litter boxes. He seems sort of nice, but he's not mom.

On Saturday, the front door was left open.

I don't know what was going on, but there was all this activity with stuff being moved out of the house. It was really nice, too, for the end of December, so I had to go outside to sniff.

Then those people, who had been in our house for a week, came toward the front door. I ran back into the house. They came inside and hugged mom. I just sat there watching. I don't know if I like, wait...

Oh dear. The one they called "Larry" gave me chin scratches, really good chin scratches.

And the one they called "Carole" scratched me all over. What's a girl to do? They were really nice scratches.

They left and we all took a nap. Best part, my sleeping spot's back.

Hope you had a wonderful, snoozy, Christmas and that your New Year starts out great.
