My Other Pages

To make it easier to read about our trip to Ireland, I have made a page that is just for that. There is a tab above for Ireland Trip 2014 or click on the Home tab to read my other posts. I have also created a new page for My Weight Loss Journey if you are interested in that, click on the tab above.

Cards for the Card Drive #7

Hello!
I hope you've got all your Christmas cards
done and mailed or ready to go soon.
This is the last post in the
Caring Hearts Card Drive
series.
Today I'm showing you the last card style
I made for the drive.
A few years ago I found a great deal on this
patterned card stock and I love it.
I got it at Tuesday Morning,
25 sheets for something like $2.99.
I love it so much, but I don't use it a lot,
I guess I just don't want to run out of it.
I pulled it out and created this simple card.
I used a couple different colors of mats as well
as card bases.
I thought it needed a little extra pop so I heat embossed
the sentiment with clear embossing powder over the
to give it some shine.
If you haven't made your cards yet and want to,
this is a very simple design to make.
I did them in assembly line style,
cutting all the pieces at once, then stamping and
assembling all the sentiment pieces.
Having everything cut, stamped and ready make it go
very quickly and easily.
You can see I made quite a few of these style.
I ended up with 107 cards.
I had an extra panel and needed to use it, then I
had an extra card base and had to use that, then there was
an extra mat and on and on.
So my 100 cards turned into 107,
but that's okay, I know they will bring smiles to someone's
face this Christmas season.
And here is what 107 cards all in envelopes looks like.
All packed up and ready to be sent out.
I can't wait to get the cards that I will deliver to
"my homes"
Vera Yates
heads up this card drive every year.
If you want to be involved, be sure to
keep an eye here next October for info
or follow Vera's blog
She usually posts the info in October and cards
can be mailed in during the month of November.
This is a huge undertaking,
last year these ladies collected and sent out
over 22,000 cards for delivery to nursing homes.
This year we are all hoping to top that,
they are collected and distributed in
The USA,Canada, Australia and this year
they added the UK.

Thanks for stopping in to see my cards.
I truly enjoyed making each and every one of them.
Come again soon,
you never know what you might find on

Card Drive Cards

 Hi all!
Today I thought I'd show you some more of the
Christmas cards I made for the
Caring Hearts Card Drive.
You can find all the information about this
wonderful drive on
All the cards from this drive are sent to
residents of nursing homes and senior care facilities.
I made several of the same cards.
Once the stamps are set up in my
MISTI stamping tool, it is simple
to make several at one time.
I was inspired by Julia Altermann
to make this card.
I set up the stamps on my MISTI,
then removed the star stamp.
I stamped all the sentiments with
I then re-positioned the star stamp,
removed the other stamps and
stamped the stars with
and heat embossed them with
I glued a few small star sequins
around  for a little more sparkle and
tied "bakers twine"
that I made, around the panel and
tied a bow to finish it off.
See how I made it on
I accidentally got some black ink smudges
on this panel, but went with my motto
"There are no mistakes in crafting,
only opportunities to be more creative"
and I cut the panel down, adhered it to the
card front and added a bow at the top.
It's a little different than the others, but just
as nice, don't ya think?

Thanks for stopping in.
I hope you've been inspired in some way
and I hope you'll join in the
Caring Hearts Card Drive
and help bring smiles to the faces
of some of our seniors.

Until next time,
have some fun crafting!

Caring Hearts Card Drive

This is the 7th year that Vera Yates and her crew
have organized the
This card drive is near and dear to my heart.
This will be the 3rd year that I will be helping to
distribute cards to
Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home and Rehab Center
and
Sacred Heart Adult Care Home
where my Mom lives.
Many people in nursing homes and assisted living
centers don't receive many cards and visitors.
This is one way to bring some cheer into their lives.
When Mom receives her cards, she has been thrilled
to show them to me and tell me where they came from.
They are always a big hit in the dining room where the
residents find them at their places.
They share them and compare them and are so
excited to receive them
Be sure to follow the link above and see how
you can help with this card drive.
Here are some cards that I've made to send in for the
drive.
(click on the pictures to see them larger)
I stamped this cute snowman
onto white card stock and also a piece of
Post It paper to use as a mask.
I covered the snowman image with the mask
and used my MISTI stamping tool to
repeatedly stamp the Holiday Wishes sentiment
onto the card.
I'm sorry I don't know what set that sentiment
is from.
On this card I stamped
from Biblical Impressions
and used the same process as above to
from
CAS-ual Fridays
This one I used
a border stamp from
I colored the images on all the cards with
