Etched Glasses

Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
My daughter, Kelsie, daughter in law, Sara, and I
recently went to a shower and decided to go in
together on the gifts.  We purchased a nice gift from the
their registry, but wanted to give them something
a little special and handmade.
We decided to etch some glasses.
It's really quite an easy process.

We used Armour Etch which can be found at
most craft stores and online.
It's simple to use, just cut out a stencil,
put it on your glass piece then cover the area that you
want etched with the cream.  Wait for it to do it's work
and rinse with water.
Be aware that when the glass is still wet it might look like
it hasn't done anything, dry it off and then take a look,
you'll see the etching then and when you take that stencil off
it's like magic. Also note there are some glass items
that this cream doesn't work on.  The label will
give you more information on this.
For our stencils, I designed and cut on my
Silhouette Cameo and used vinyl which is easy to
remove.

We etched 2 on the rocks glasses with
Minnie & Mickey.

Kissing Minnie and Mickey on one side.

On the other sides we etched the Mr & Mrs and a variety
of Minnie and Mickey images.  Each side was a little different.

We also did a set of 4 tumblers.
One with Mickey on the front.

One with Minnie on the front.

and both had the Disney castle on the back.

It's hard to see in this picture as it is very difficult
to photograph the etching,  but I think Jaryd did a
pretty good job. When you look at the Mickey or Minnie
you can see through to the castle in the back.

We also did 2 glasses using images from Up,
which is the brides favorite Disney movie.
Here we have Carl's nose and glasses.

And we also did Ellie's aviator hat and goggles.

On the back of the glasses we did the
house with balloons.
We all love how these glasses turned out.
Kelsey Ann, the bride, loved them too.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been
creating lately.
Have you ever tried etching?
I hope you will give it a try, it's fun, it's easy
and you can create very unique thing,
the sky's the limit.
Come again soon and I'll show you what else
we made for Kelsey Ann.
Until then,
create something unique.

Choose Your Weapon D&D Shirt

Hello crafty people!
Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
Today I have a tee shirt to show you.
Jaryd and Sara asked me to make this shirt
for my #2 son, Jaryd's best friend, Brian.
How could I turn them down, Brian is my #2 after all?!?!
Jaryd and his group of friend play Dungeons and Dragons
on a regular basis and have for quite some time.
They gave me the design and I cut the
then applied it to a black tee shirt with
my heat press.
They gave it to Brian for his birthday and he loved it,
wore it the next time the got together to play.
It's hard to see in the pictures, but the htv is metallic silver.
I'm glad it turned out so nice and that Brian
liked it.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit,
I hope you enjoyed your time here and maybe
were in inspired in some way.
Come again soon, until then,
make something fun for someone.

Wicked Cute

Hello all!
Just wanted to pop in today and give you a peak at the
onesie that I made for my granddaughter.
Sara had a package of onesies sent to me so I could
make a birthday onesie for Marie's 1st birthday party.
She said I could make whatever I wanted with the
rest of them, but that it would be nice to have one for
Halloween.
This is what I came up with, I think it turned out really
adorable.
I designed it with my
Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software,
cut it with my Silhouette and pressed it on with
my mount press.
I do have a couple more designs in the works,
but they aren't cut yet, but she'll be wearing them soon.

Thanks for stopping to see what I'm up to,
come again soon.
Until then,
be creative!

Birthday Gifts for the Dad to be.

Hello!
Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
My son's birthday was in August and
since he's going to be a Dad in November,
I wanted to make a shirt for him.
Here is what I came up with.
I designed it with my
Silhouette Designer Edition software,
then cut heat transfer vinyl with my
Silhouette Cameo
and applied it to the shirt with my
heat press.

I also made him a onsie for Marie.
For this I used the new
Cricut Infusible Ink Sheets.
I created and cut it with my Silhouette
and applied it with the heat press.
I love how this product works,
easy to use and gives a great result,
as long as you use the right kind of
fabric. The infusible ink MUST be used
on polyester fabric.
Jaryd loved his gifts and I loved making them.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you'll come again soon.
You never know what you'll see on

Marie on the Wall

It's been a long time since I posted anything
here, sorry about that!
A lot has been going on and I also found that
my pictures were not showing up for y'all.
Hopefully, I have that problem solved now.
As many of you know, I'm going to be a
Grandma in November.
Marie's room is going to be a combination theme
of Harry Potter, Marie from Aristocats and Disney.
Sara, my daughter in law and I got together to
work on the nursery one day and got most of the
one wall done.
I used my Silhouette Designer Edition software
and my Silhouette Cameo
to create a large "Marie" for the wall with
removable vinyl.
It had to be cut in a few pieces.
Each piece was then put onto transfer tape.
I made sure it was adhering to the
transfer tape.
Then it was put on the wall.
And the transfer tape was removed,
leaving the vinyl design behind.
First piece done.
Second piece lined up and added.
Once Marie was on the wall, I added
her Harry Potter scar and glasses.
TaDa!  Sara is so happy with how she turned out!
Sara and I also cut Harry and Disney themed characters
and "symbols" with my Silhouette and her Cricut.
Here is the wall, almost done.  Jaryd added a couple more
pieces to the wall when he got home.
I don't have pictures of the whole room for this post,
but it's just about done now, with
twinkle lights and her furniture.
We are all thrilled with how the wall and the whole
room has turned out.

Thanks for visiting today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way.
Until next time, give something new a try,
maybe a giant cut out!

Lego Valentine

Hello blog friends.
A little bit ago, I posted a Lego card that I made
for a birthday and my nephew just loved it.
For Valentine's Day I wanted to make something special
for him.  The other cards I made just didn't
look like something a young boy would like,
so I decided to make him another Lego card.
I found a picture of a Lego heart online
and recreated it with some background pieces
made with alcohol inks from my stash.
I designed it and
cut all the Lego pieces with my Silhouette,
then pieced them together onto
white card stock.
Each of the little circles are on tiny
foam dot adhesive pieces.
It was a bit fussy, but well worth
the time, as I love how it turned out.
I hope Anthony loves it as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way and
will come again soon.
Until then
think outside the box and try something
new!

Lego Card

Hello and welcome to
Kristie Kreates!
Today I have a birthday card to share
with you.  My niece's little guy loves
Legos, so I thought a Lego card would
be perfect for him.
I started with a piece from my stash that
I had created with alcohol inks on glossy
paper.  I simply swiped across the paper
with green, then swiped stripes across with blue,
 turned the paper 90 degrees
and swiped with more blue.
  This created a plaid background.
I thought this would work well for a
background panel.
I then created the legos with my
These were simple enough, just a rectangle
and circles.  I cut them out with my Silhouette,
using scraps from my stash.
I glued the "base" pieces onto the background panel,
then used round foam adhesive behind the circles
to give the dimension of the Legos.
I used foam tape to adhere this piece to a
white card stock base, to make a sort of
pocket.
I made a tag to slip in behind the
Lego panel.
I found a Lego font online, downloaded
it and cut that for the
Happy Birthday sentiment.
When Anthony opened his card, I heard
a "Oh Wow!" from him and that made
me smile.

Thanks for spending time at my blog today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way.
Now go be creative!

Practice Hair

Practice hair,
Have you heard of it?
Today's layout is about going for "practice hair"
Most of the girls had never had the hair stylist that
Sara uses to have their hair done.
So one day we all went to have April do their hair,
and see if they liked what she did.
Here are the 4 girls from the wedding party,
with their hair done.
For each girl I wanted to do something a little different
for their pictures and layout.
To see the pictures better, click on them and they
will enlarge for you.
Bride
Sara had a practice session too, since she doesn't
wear her hair up, ever!
Her background piece is made using alcohol inks
on silver card stock.
The embellishment along the sides, I designed
and cut with my Silhouette.
Her sister, Maid of Honor
This background was made with alcohol inks on
deli paper. the border and the heart embellishment,
were cut on my Silhouette.
And that layout isn't as crooked as it looks,
sorry about the bad picture.
My daughter
Best Lady
For this background I used some embossed paper.
I used an ink blending too to add Distress Ink
to the raised areas.  I cut out some of the flowers
from the inked paper as embellishments.
Bridesmaid
This background is 2 different papers that I cut into
strips and then wove together.
For the embellishments I cut the vines, leaves and flowers
with my Silhouette to mimic the flowers in her hair.
Bridesmaid
And finally, one of my favorite techniques.
I stamped and heat embossed with clear embossing powder,
then used Distress Ink to ink over the embossing.
Buffing with a clean cloth helps remove any ink on
the embossed areas, so they show up nice and white.
I cut pieces from the same pattern to
use for embellishments.
I'm very happy with how these layouts turned out.
I had a lot of fun doing the different techniques for
each layout.
I hope you've enjoyed these layouts and are inspired in
some way to try something new and different.
Thanks for coming by and spending time here.
Come again soon!
Until next time,
Think Outside the Box!

Savosaurus

Hi all!
Remember this card from a few posts ago?
Today I'm going to show you what I made that
little guy for his birthday.
I decided to make him a bank, so I went to the store
and got a glass block made for crafting.
I found a free coloring page and use that to trace
this dinosaur and all it's parts with my
Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software.
I then cut it out with my Silhouette using a couple different colors of
vinyl.  I used black and silver and layered them.
I cut a slit in the plug and the bank was ready to go.
Oh, except that it needed a bit of money inside.
I added some coins, then my kids added some
too.  It was a nice little start for his savings.
He loved the bank when he opened it and
any cash that he received he put right into the bank.
Maybe I should have gotten the bigger glass block.
By the time he was finished with his gifts, the bank was full
of random cash!
I love making something a little different for
gifts and I think a bank is a great idea
for any kid.

I'm so glad you stopped by today.
Thanks, I hope you have been inspired in some
way and will come again soon.
Until next time,
have fun creating!

Sienna' Gift

Hi everyone!
I have the most adorable :"greats"
that's what I call my great nieces and nephews!
Today I'm showing you what I made for one
of my greats.
I used a 5x7 canvas board, that I picked up at
I mixed some red and white
to make pink paint and
painted the entire board with the pink.
I cut a ballerina with my Silhouette from black vinyl.
I used one of the dancers from the
"Ballerina Border" which I purchased from
I also cut her name using the
Segoe Print font.
I used transfer tape to apply the vinyl to the painted
canvas board.
I then made a 'dress' for the ballerina.
For the dress, I used a strip of lace
and a piece of pink ribbon,
I doubled the lace to give it a bit of fullness.
I layered the pink ribbon on top of the edge of the
doubled lace and used a running stitch with white
thread along the length of the lace and ribbon.
I then pulled the thread to gather the top edge
and secured it with a few stitches.
I tied a small bow with the same pink ribbon and
to glue the bow to the dress.
I also used the Multi Medium to glue the dress
to the dancer on the board.
I used the same glue to adhere 3 flowers to the
hair of the ballerina
I framed it in a black frame.
I think this turned out adorable.

I hope Sienna loves this as much as I do.
I enjoyed creating it for her.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Come again soon.
Until then, I hope you'll
create something.
