Birthday Card For My Friend

Good day blog friends!
I have a friend who recently turned 50,
her family threw a surprise party for her,
so I needed a card and gift for her.
She is an avid reader and book lover,
and I had bought this stamp specifically
to make a card for her.
For the back ground I used a napkin.
Here is a link if you are interested in the
process.  I layered the background onto
a white card stock base.
When I made the background, the second layer
of the napkin had a light image on it,
I used that also and then stamped onto
it with VersaMark ink, then embossed with
gold embossing powder.
In the picture, the image behind the stamped image
doesn't show very well, but it's very subtle and pretty
in person.
On the inside of this card I wrote a personal message
and included a gift certificate for Barnes and Noble.
I thought that was appropriate, especially with this card.

I'm glad you have come to spend some time here today.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit and have
been inspired in some way.
Come again soon.
Until then,
read a good book!

Key Lime Pie

Hello creative people!
Today I'm showing you my creative side in the kitchen.
I've never even tasted Key Lime pie before, no less
made one.  But it was my son in laws birthday and I
know he loves it, so I dove right in.
I found the recipe on one of my favorite chef's websites.
If you are interested, you can find it here.
It was really quite easy to make and the filling
sure tasted good when I was making it.
Who doesn't need to clean out the bowl in the end?
Here is the pie after baking, cooling and garnishing.
No, it doesn't look like Billy Parisi's, but
I think I did pretty good for a first try.
And Brad loved it!
Happy Birthday Brad!

Thanks for stopping in today,
I hope you were inspired in some way.
Come again soon,
until then,
try something you've never tried before.

Cards for 1st Birthday

Hi crafty fans!
Today I have a couple little cards to show you.
My great nephew turned 1 and I needed cards to
go with his gifts.
I decided to do small gift enclosure cards rather than
full sized cards.
I stamped this "Lion Balloon Stamp" onto white card stock,
colored it with colored pencils and fussy cut him.
For the grass, I simply cut a piece of green card stock and
cut small slices into it to make the grass.
The Happy Birthday was a stamp from my stash.
This card I used Elephant Balloon Stamp and the
same process as the lion card.  I used
embossing paste and gold glitter to make the
"sand" along the bottom.
These were both quick and easy cards to make and
perfect for a 1 yr old.

Thanks for stopping by today and spending a little
time here.  I hope you will come again soon.
Until then,
keep calm and stamp on!

Pop Out Birthday Card

Hello crafters!
Today I'm showing you a card I made recently.
I had seen this video from Jennifer McGuire
making a pop up card and thought I'd give it a try.
The card folds flat to fit into an envelope.
When it's taken out of the envelope it pops out
giving great dimension to the card.
I made the background with a stencil, VersaMark ink
and silver embossing powder.
I stamped and cut the stars and adhered them to
a piece of plain white card stock, the fussy cut around
the entire grouping.
I adhered the star arrangement onto the
front of the pop out piece.
I love how it turned out.
I stamped this greeting and colored it on plain white
card stock and cut it out with a die.

Thanks for stopping in today,
I hope you'll come again soon.
Until then,
try something new.
(maybe this kind of card)

Brad's birthday gift

Hello crafty people!
Today I have a shirt to show you that
I made in collaboration with my son and daughter in law.
They do some video gaming with my daughter and
her boyfriend, Jaryd and Sara designed what they
wanted on this shirt for Brad and sent it to me.
I traced it with my
Silhouette Studio  Designer Edition software,
then cut it on my Silhouette Cameo from
The Chameleon HTV is pretty cool as it changes
color with different lighting.
It's hard to show in the photographs, but
you can see that the different areas are different colors.
This is the front of the shirt.
This is the logo that they created for the back of the
shirt.  You can see that the color is totally different
in this picture, but it's all done with the same
HTV color.
Here is a picture of Brad in his new
shirt.  He loves it and doesn't he just
look too handsome?!?!
Happy Birthday Brad!

Birthday Card

Hello!
It looks like fall is here, at least in our area it is.
How about in your area?
Today I'm showing you a card I made for my daughter's
boyfriend for his birthday.
I started by embossing a piece of brown card stock
with an embossing folder.  I don't know who made it
as it was just in my stash waiting to be used.
theme.
After it was embossed, I used a sanding block over
the trees to give them a bit more detail and dimension.
I cut the Happy Birthday! with my
Silhouette Cameo and punched the leaves with
a punch from my stash,
using pieces from my recycle box.
Great way to use up some little scraps.
On the inside I wrote a personal note
to him.
I, like many, struggle with masculine cards in general.
I'm not totally crazy about this card, but I think it
turned out nice and I think he appreciated it.

Thanks for visiting!
I hope you'll come again soon.
Until then,
use some scraps.

Happy Birthday Aunt Marilyn

Hello!  I hope you're having a wonderful day.
Today I have a birthday card to show you.
My Aunt Marilyn turned 98 today (Sept. 29th)
She lives in North Carolina and I haven't seen her
for quite some time now.
Covid has changed so much!
I wanted to make her something beautiful
so I used one of my favorite stamp sets.
onto white card stock with VersaFine Onyx Black
ink and colored them with my Arteza colored pencils.
I fussy cut them and adhered them to a card base.
The happy birthday sentiment is from
Lawn Fawn Scripty Words set
also stamped with VersaFine ink.
Since this card was an odd size, I made
an envelope to send it in.
I think she'll be happy to receive a pretty
card for her birthday.

Thanks for stopping in today,
I hope you'll come again soon.
Until then,
make someone smile.

Pocket Birthday Card

Hello and welcome!
Today I'm showing you the card I made for
my hubby, Dave, for his birthday.
This is made from a business envelope with
a window in it.
I simply folded up the envelope so the window
was at the bottom of the pocket that it made.
I stamped the "happy birthday" on a piece of
white card stock with VersaFine Black Onyx Ink
and positioned it inside the envelope,
before I folded and glued it to make the pocket.
I covered the front of the pocket with some
alcohol ink covered deli paper from my stash.
Then found some woven burlap type embellishment
in my stash and added that and glued the
postage stamps on top of it.
We are big fans of  Ireland and castles,
so I thought these stamps were perfect for him.
I then made a small tag to go in the pocket.
I used white card stock and inked it with
a couple Distress Inks,
I believe they were
Broken China
and
I wrote out a greeting in Gaelic
Go n-eiri an t-adh leat
which basically means
wishing you the best of luck
Slainte means cheers
and gra which means love.
I adhered the entire pocket onto
a piece of card stock.
He loved his card, it is sooooo
him!
Here is a link to a video showing how
to make this kind of pocket, there are
other uses for these, I just chose to make mine
into a card.  She does a bit more elaborate design
in the video, but you'll get the idea anyway.

Thanks for stopping in today.
I hope you have been inspired in some way
and will return again soon.
Until then,
try something new and different!

Sara's Birthday Card

Good Day!
My daughter in law, Sara, just celebrated her birthday.
Today I'm showing you the card I made for her.
This card had quite the evolution.
I started by finding a purple background in
my stash, as her favorite color is purple.
At that point I had no idea what I was going to
do with it.  Then I decided that I wanted to emboss
a piece of acrylic and see what I could come up with.
I used an embossing folder with tiny hearts on it.
I can't find a link to this particular folder, but there
are several varieties of this online.
I had a bit of vellum with music on it and
added that to the background.
I then used scotch tape to hold the background
and acrylic together, then had to figure out how to cover
that tape up.  I scored a piece of card stock and folded
it over the top to cover the tape and make it into an
actual card.  This worked out great for a unique card.
I cut the words out of a scrap from the same background
piece, using my
and adhered them to the acrylic piece with
The last thing I did was add some of that
glue behind the letters so the acrylic would
adhere to the background, this worked perfectly.
Sara loved the card and how unique it is.
I was pretty happy with it myself.
Sometimes flying by the seat of my pants works
out great.
I'm so thankful to have a wonderful daughter in law
like Sara!

Thanks for stopping for a visit today,
come again soon.
Until then,
fly by the seat of your pants and see what
you can create.

Birthday Gelli Print Card

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.
Today I have a card to show you that I made from a
Gelli print that I made a while ago.
I used alcohol inks of several colors on my
Gelli Plate and picked up this image.
I loved it, but didn't know what I would do with it.
My friend, Mary, told me she thought it looked like
balloons, I could see that.
So I made it into a birthday card and I love how
it turned out.  Very abstract looking, I love the colors.
I had some scraps left so I cut one down and put a little
strip inside the card for a little extra something.
The recipient loved it.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Come again soon.
Until then,
see something special in what you make.

Birthday Card For Jaryd

Hello, I hope you're having a good day!
My son recently had his birthday and I needed
a card for him.  I had been doing some gelli plate
prints and had used a piece of card stock to
roll the excess paint off my brayer.
I loved the look of this piece, so I used it to make
his card.
I happened to have a couple strips of
card stock that matched the colors nicely,
so I used those along the edges.
Then I stamped the happy birthday with
I love how his card turned out.
I wrote a personal message inside.
I think he liked the card too.

Thanks for stopping by today to see
what I've been up to, I hope you like what you
found here and will come again soon.
Until then:
use something unexpected.

Unicorn Birthday Card

Hello everyone!
I hope you're having a fabulous day.
Today I'm showing you a card I made for our
Goddaughter for her birthday.
She does love her unicorns, so of course, it had
to be a unicorn card.
When Pat Catan's, in the Toledo, Ohio area, was
closing they had a great deal on some foam stamp sets.
Of course I picked up every kind they had and one set
was mythical creatures.
I stamped this unicorn with silver and gold
I used make up brushes as blending brushes to
apply Distress Ink for the background
I scattered some sequins around to finish it off.
Inside I stamped a simple
At the top of the inside I added a joke,
"What do unicorns call their Dad?"
I wrote the answer and covered it with
I stuck a penny next to the scratch off area,
so she could scratch it off right away.
Answer?....... Popcorn.  lol

So glad you stopped by today and hope
you'll come again soon.
Until then:
try something a little different.

100 yr old Vet Card

Hello fellow crafters!
Today I'm showing you a card that I made
for a gentleman who was turning 100 in
early October.  I saw the story on facebook and
since I'm a big sucker for these kind of things,
I decided that I'd send him a card.
I'm sure he received well over 100 cards
and I was glad mine was one of them.
I'm sorry this picture isn't better,
it's very difficult to get a good picture
I heat embossed the star pattern with
metallic card stock, this creates a pretty cool
look, which doesn't really show in the picture.
I used purple embossing powder for the
sentiment.
Inside I embossed a simple
happy birthday greeting.
I made an envelope and decorated that too.
I hope he enjoyed my card and that it added
some smiles to his special day.
Have you ever sent a card to someone
you don't know?

Thanks for stopping in today and spending
time here.
I hope you have been inspired in some way.
Until next time,
spread some handmade kindness!

Down the Path and Food

Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
Today I have a couple layouts from Jaryd and Sara's
engagement trip to her Mom's for pictures
I love this sequence of pictures and had to use them.
My friend Judy suggested the title and I thought
it was perfect for the layout.
From what the kids tell me, it was a feast every time
they ate.  Like the layout says,
"Nobody goes hungry at Mom's"
To finish off this layout, I added shiny red confetti
in groups around the layout.
I think they pull it all together.
It was also Sara's birthday while they were there,
so of course they had to celebrate with a cake.
Kind of wish I had a little bit of purple confetti
for that little birthday area.
Thanks for stopping by and spending time here.
Come again soon and see what else I'm up to.
Until then:
Be Scrap Happy!

Ink Lift Card

Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
Have you tried the Alcohol Lift Ink yet?
If you haven't you should give it a try.
Well, that is if you use alcohol inks.
I love my alcohol inks, especially for making backgrounds.
When the Alcohol Lift Ink came out
I knew I needed to give it at try.
This is a card I made for my Aunt Marilyn.
Her 95th birthday was the same day my
son got married.  Unfortunately, she lives in
North Carolina and we are in Western New York,
so she wasn't able to attend.
I thought a fall themed card would be perfect for her.
There are a lot of video's out there showing how to use the
alcohol lift ink, so I won't go into detail about it.
I will say I used a glossy silver card stock,
made a background with a few different colors of
alcohol ink and stamped with several leaf stamps from
my stash of stamps.
I heat embossed the Happy Birthday with silver embossing powder,
mounted it onto silver card stock and layered them all
onto a matching card base.
If you haven't tried this cool ink, you should.
It's so much fun to work with and gives a very impressive
look to any card or project you make with it.
Here's a link to some videos on YouTube
showing techniques with this amazing product.

Dino-mite!

Hi Everyone!
Today I have a card to show you.
I made this for a little guy who absolutely
LOVES dinosaurs.

The background is one from my stash.
I made it with alcohol inks and glossy card stock.
I seldom use any kind of sticker, but when I found
some dinosaur stickers in my stash, I knew I
had to use this one for Lennon.
The "Happy Birthday" was stamped with
Staz-On black ink.

Inside I used some of my alphabet stamps to
stamp this sentiment.
I think he'll love this card.

Thanks for stopping by today,
come again soon.
Until then
be creative!

Party Poopers Card

Hi everyone!
I need a card for my great nephew's birthday,
since he loves animals, I thought this would be the
perfect card for him.  He'll be 3 yrs old on the 17th.
I stamped
from Stamp On It
onto watercolor paper and colored it with my
I stamped the golden dog and the black and white one
again onto scrap pieces and colored them the same as
the original.
I fussy cut the extra images.
The black and white dog is adhered over the original with
foam tape.  The golden one is adhered with a
The background was also colored with water color crayons.
I hope this video works for you, sometimes it does
and sometimes it doesn't, but I can't figure out why or
how to fix that.
Inside I stamped this Happy Birthday sentiment
with a stamp that I took off a wood block, so
I don't know what company it is from.
I colored it with colored pencils.
I think Emmett will love this card, especially since it
has the movement of the action wobbler.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you'll come again soon.
Until then,
try making something a little interactive.
