Linda's Bag

Finally I can show you photos of the bag I made in Linda's bag swap! Many of you may already
have seen the bag over at Linda's blog.
When I first saw who my swap partner was, I felt a bit scared, because I know how talented
she is!
And then I thought, well, she is a nice lady, she is clever, she is the hostess of the swap, ...
I want to make her a special bag, and I want to spoil her a bit...!
I picked the fabrics...
...but used quite a long time, deciding which fabric to use where...(like I allways do, grrr!)
Since she was the swaphostess, and knew who her "secret" swap-partner was, I couldn't
show any photos of the process!

As I said, I wanted to spoil her a little, so I added some bits and bobs!

I made the little thread holder from Leanne's great tutorial...

...the covered tapemeasure is from another great tutorial from A spoonful of sugar.

Thank you both for your great tutorials!

I wished I could take credit for the bag pattern, but I can't.

The pattern is made by a norwgian designer, AnnaKa.

It is called Matilde's sommerveske.( Matilde's summerbag)

The pattern and most of the fabrics, are bought at my LQS Kreativ Quilt, in Kristiansand.

After looking at the photos I had taken,

I realized I forgot to take photos of the bag after I had sewn the buttons on the pockets...

If you want to see them, you can just hop over to Linda's blog.

She has some nice photos.

Thank you Linda, for hosting this fun swap!

Take care everyone, and have a nice week-end!

I will, because this week-end we will be a complete family again!

My kids will be home over the next week, they're having their fall-break,

and my husband comes home for the week-end!

May Kristin

PS. Linda loved the bag!

My Bag Is Here!

When I came home monday night, after several hours in the car, I found this parcel
waiting for me! Immidiately I thought that this was the bag for me
in Linda's bag swap! I had had a little word from Linda right before I left that
it was on it's way! And it was!
I managed to behave myself and unpacked the car, put my little princess in bed,
before I allowed myself to open the parcel!
It came all the way from Ohio, USA! Thank you Debbie, for making my day! And look what I found inside the parcel...
...a gorgeous little bag, perfect for my stitcheries to go...

...some other lovely things like a pen, notebook, papertissues, a nice little frame,

a beautiful card, nicely wrapped chocolate and eclipse mints...

Thank you again, Debbie...

...and thank you Linda for hosting this swap!

Until next time...

...take care!

Married 50 years

This week-end I was away celebrating my parents 50 years of marriage!
I think they have done a great job!
It is not usual being married in so many years
these days!
My mom is 74 and my dad is 76 years young!
Congratulations!
We love you!It was a nice, but very busy week-end. Preparing and decorating for the party,
catching up with family and friends!
I realized my family are quite international...
my niece came all the way from Iceland, my sister and family from
England, uncle and aunt from Denmark, my cousins daughter from Sweden,
and greetings by phone from my uncle in the US!
But the best of all, my oldest children were there too!
I hadn't seen my daughter since the middle of august, so it was so
wonderful to give her a big hug!
My son has been home a couple times since the school started, but it was wonderful
to see him too!
My little princess was extremely happy to have her big brother and sister around! :)This is a cake we call "kransekake". We make them for special occacions, like weddings,
birtdays, national day, christmas...
They are made of almonds, powdered sugar and egg-whites!
Yummy!
The couple on the plate was on my parents weddingcake 50 years ago, and the golden
couple on the top, is from my grandparents gold wedding
back in 1970!

Like always in norwegian parties, there were lots of, lots of cakes! The wedding cake...
Are you still here???
Well, there is more...
Sunday night, my princess and I drove to Oslo. Finally we would see where my

husband lives when he is working during the week! We hadn't seen him in a week, he's been

in Montreal, Canada, work related. Sadly he couldn't be at my parents party.

He has a nice little flat, quite close to one of the best shopping streets in Oslo.

I'm not complaining! Not at all! LOL

But the best of all, it's very close to Kathrine's Quiltestue, one of my favourite

quiltshops!

So, on my way back home, I had to visit the shop, and I didn't leave emptyhanded...

I was also passing IKEA on my way home, and I didn't leave that shop emptyhanded either...
Now I can sit in the sofa with my laptop...

This rack is for towels...

...but is also great for quilts, and very cheap, too!...

When we came home last night, there was some nice mail waiting for me...
...more of that in my next post!
Are you still there? If you are, you have been very patient...
Until next time, take care!

PIF's and swaps

Some days ago I found an envelope in my mailbox. Inside the envelope I found this nice,
wrapped parcel from May Britt!
Woohoo, it was the PIF gift from her!
I was one of the first three, lucky commenters on her PIF post back in november 2007. This is what I found inside the wrapping!
A very nice, stitched and sewn waste bin with a pincushion!
It sits perfect on the armchair of my sofa, where I always sit when
I am stitching and handsewing, right in front of the TV...
Thank you, May Britt, for this nice gift!
And Hanne, Anne Ida and Perry, I haven't forgotten you!

And at last, this is just a little teaser for my partner in Linda's Bagswap!

Who knows, she might be lurking around...

Take care!

Cupcakeswap

This summer Mrs Red Geranium Cottage was hosting a cupcake swap. I had to
sign up, because it looked fun! My daughter
loves to make cupcakes, (and I love to eat them...), so why not?
You could put whatever you liked in the parcel, but it had to have a cupcake theme!
My partner was Sandy from the US, sadly she doesn't have a blog!
The deadline was aug 18th. Long before that, my parcel arrived!
I knew it was on it's way, so it was so exciting when it finally arrived! ...lots of small parcels...

...look at all this lovely stuff she had put in the box... I really liked what she wrote in the card...
"...a cookbook for cupcake recipies...
...apron to wear when you make your cupcakes...
...cups to put your cupcake batter in...
...sprinkles for fancy cupcakes...
...cup and tea to enjoy with your cupcake...
...washcloth to use for your cupcake dishes...
...towel to dry your cupcake dishes...
...chocolate to enjoy at the end of the day!..."
She made the apron, washcloth, towel and napkin, all with cupcake motifs!
Thank you again, Sandy!
I had my DD1 to model for me. She's a much better model than me, a little thinner...

...well... actually... a lot thinner than me.....hmm...
Sandy was so kind to offer me a delay for sending my parcel to her, due to the
very busy time I had in the first three weeks of august...
...so when I was done, this is what I sent her...

Thank you for hosting this fun swap, Sharon!

Take care everyone!

4SQS Summer

I'm back, I hope!!
In my last post I promised you photos of my 4SQS summer quilt. And here they are!
The quilt came all the way from Australia, from Jane!
Thank you, Jane!
The quilt is gorgeous, and her handquilting is beautiful!
I wished I was that good!
In the card she sent me and, on her blog, she wrote this;
"I have named it 'Bushfire Sun' as the colors remind me of the unusual color and haze of the sun, and the quilting reminds me of the radiant heat."

I have never been near any bushfires in my life, so I think it must be both

scaring and facinating!

Thank you again Jane, for this gorgeous little quilt!

And also a big thank you to Margaret, aka Supermom, for hosting this swap!

I have three quilts from different parts of the world, from Europe, USA and Australia, winter,

spring and summer quilts. The only one I miss, is the fall.

May be I have to make myself a little fallquilt, just to

cover all the four seasons!

That's all for now!

Take care everyone!
