Sup Darus
Sup Darus is a soup stall at the Taman Kanak-Kanak (or famously known as TKK) in Ipoh. It has been there since the dawn of time. Still taste the same.
The cook always has a smart appearance despite the warung environment. He always wear a collared shirt. Hair done nicely. And he always has the calm face even if he is pressured with lots of orders. He has only one helper to send the order away. I have never seen him looked distressed.
The soup is simple. One thing I like about it is that it has a balanced amount of spice. Not too spicy yet still has that illuminating taste (whatever that means). Try it if you happened to be around TKK. Open after 7pm.

Impiana KLCC again
OK I know, is this going to be a blog which promotes hotels, you ask (again)? Absolutely not. But since I have been on and off to KL quite a lot this few weeks, I might as well put on something.
The room I got this time is the typical room. Smaller than the last one. I have no complain on the room but I realize now that the breakfast was dull since the menu doesn't change much. This is definitely a sign for me to request for a different hotel next time. Probably Corus or TheZone. Not much of a choice anyway since I am bounded by the rate (max RM350 per night? Not really sure but definitely not Mandarin Oriental or Traders kind of hotels).
Room rate is about RM330? Can't really remember.
Anyway, I was in KL again for a meeting with the guys in Petronas on a different project. Although I am not the Principal Investigator on this one, but on the meeting I have volunteered myself to look upon one very critical issue - which means, my task is not that easy anymore. Due to that, I am going to KL again next week to meet these guys. Yes, this time no more Impiana!
I have 4 projects with Petronas now. No wonder I find time nowadays runs very fast!
p/s: I am planning to do my industrial attachment for 4 months starting September this year. Hopefully in a Oil & Gas industry, specifically in a design office - designing offshore platforms or floaters or anything related. Anyone of you have any contacts with such company?

Awana Kijal
I was in Kerteh, Terengganu attending a meeting with the guys in the PETRONAS oil & gas plants discussing on the structural integrity of the plants. I am a member of the UTP research & consultancy group addressing this problem. It was a long ride, fortunately we engaged a driver to take us.
We spent our nights at Awana Kijal. about 15km from the plant. What impressed me the most is the hotel's roof which is massive! By the view of it, I think it was constructed using woods and joined with steel plates.
The room is so-so but I had a good time swimming in the large pools. Cramped my muscle as a result. That is what you get when you pushed to hard (lama tak berenang punya kes).
The corporate rate is about RM255 per night.

Impiana KLCC
I attended a meeting with KLCC regarding on a research project with PETRONAS Carigali and the industry. Since it was held 9am in the morning, as a staff of UTP, I am eligible for one night stay in a hotel. They (the management) gave me Impiana KLCC to stay. For some unknown reason I think the standard room was upgraded to a junior suite.
The corporate rate for the junior suite was about RM360 per night.
From the door.
The ruang tamu if you want to name it.
The bed at the back. I prefer the TV to be on the opposite way.
Free internet.
Huge bathroom. Note the two sinks.
Can't help myself.
The corporate rate for the junior suite was about RM360 per night.

KLCC towers bridge view
Eeeekk... heights!
The 3rd tower is being constructed on the right side of the twin tower, separated from the main building (not in picture)
The bridge yeay!
My dear friends and respected colleagues; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nasir Shafiq and Dr. Mohd Faris Khamidi.
Last week, me and my colleagues went to KLCC (macam karangan sekolah rendah). We went there for meeting with people in Carigali. We went there with a mission. To secure a research contract grant in the amount of 6 figures. Of course I am not the PI (Principal Investigator). I am merely a peon.
Yes, despite we came out from the same mother (PETRONAS), but we don't just dump money to each other. We have to strive and strike for it.
Anyway, the research went well. The feedback received from the Carigali were positive. Feeling good with ourselves, we went to the famous KLCC bridge. The bridge is two levels. The first level is the one that is opened for the public. On top of that, there is another level which is a common bridge for the staffs to go across. We were on that level.
And it was OUR first time on that bridge even though we have been to KLCC towers so many time. Just look at us. We were excited!

Moral - balik rumah suruh your wife buat sama camni sebab kat kedai makan gerenti takde (walau kat Secret Recipe sekalipun).

SWITCHBLADE - Come for the clothes, stay for the food!
All in one.
Gaya lukisan urban
Kombinasi restoran dan kedai fesyen
Fesyen untuk bayi pun ada!
Ehem... lingerie?
