Hello! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Today I'm here to have a closer look at the Mama Elephant Fair Feathers set. I love this set because it has great outline and solid feathers along with perfectly coordinating dies.
Materials used: Mama Elephant Fair Feathers, coordinating Fair Feathers Creative Cuts dies, Embellished Tag Creative Cuts die
I created this card by stamping feather outlines on the white base of the card with Mama Elephant Creative Color inks in Lollipop, Sunshine, and Bubblegum. I then added a piece of kraft paper off set to the right of the card base. To give this card tons of dimension, I layered feathers on top of a die cut Embellished Tag and further stamped ink spots, sprinkled confetti, and added a small silver star for a touch of sparkle.

Mama Elephant Highlight: Many Thanks
Good morning! Today's our last day of Mama Elephant August release highlights. But the fun continues on the Mama Elephant blog, so be sure to keep visiting to see what the rest of the design team creates throughout the month.
Many Thanks is perfect to tell someone thank you in so many different ways. I created this card using two sentiments that work perfectly stacked. To create the background, I first cut out triangles and masked the watercolor paper before adding a soft wash of watercolor. I loved how it was a single layer card, but then I decided to add sequins to give it some added dimension.
Materials used: Mama Elephant Many Thanks; Faber Castell Gelsticks, Metallic Gelsticks, Gelatos; Memento ink in Tuxedo Black, watercolor paper, sequins
Be sure to stop by the Mama Elephant blog to see what the rest of the design team created with this set.

Mama Elephant August Stampede
Welcome to the Mama Elephant August Design Team blog hop! Our August release is now live and available for purchase in the store.
To celebrate the new release, Mama Elephant is giving away 3 gift certificates worth $20.00 each to 3 lucky people! Winners will be chosen at random from the collective blogs in the Stampede. Winners will be announced on the Mama Elephant blog on the last Stamp Highlight day.
Here's how to qualify to win (leave a separate comment for each):
- Leave a comment on this blog post
- Become a follower of our blog
- Like/share our on Facebook
- Follow/tweet us on Twitter
First, I started off with a medium tooth watercolor paper so that it'd have a great grit to collect the watercolors. Then, I stamped strings of Cheerios using gold ink, varying between the filled and outline image. For even more texture, I added a layer of tissue paper pennants, ran it through the sewing machine without thread, and then repeated it. And lastly, I sprinkled sequins on the card to finish it off.
Materials used: Mama Elephant Foodie; Faber Castell Gelsticks, Metallic Gelsticks, Gelatos; Memento ink in Tuxedo Black, Tsukineko Delicata ink in Golden Glitz, watercolor paper, sequins, tissue paper, sewing machine
Hope you enjoyed this project. Be sure to hop to every Mama Elephant design team member's blog and see what yummy goodness they've created.

Mama Elephant Highlight: Lights Out
Good morning! Here to share another Mama Elephant highlight. This set is perfect for personalizing how you want to tell someone they're awesome or just to say "watt's up?" I look forward to telling someone they're brilliant with this card.
I stamped the lightbulb and personalized the inside of the lightbulb with the start circuit design. To give it that extra color, pattern, and sparkle, I stamped it on a Basic Grey pattern paper and added orangey gold glitter to the star. I used foam dots to adhere it to white cardstock for that extra dimension. To give it an extra pop of coordinated but understated color, I layered iridescent star confetti and sequins streaming behind the lightbulb. Finally, I added the perfect coordinating sentiment, "I think you're brilliant" to finish it off.
Materials used: Mama Elephant Lights Out; Basic Grey pattern paper, sequins, confetti, glitter
I love the simple layers and dimension created with the use of pattern paper, glitter, and iridescent confetti and sequins.
Be sure to stop by the Mama Elephant blog to see what the rest of the design team created! And come back tomorrow for another highlight!

Mama Elephant Highlight: Today Was
Today will be a great day! And you can bet on it with the Mama Elephant Today Was stamp set. It's perfect for everyday journaling or Project Life pages, but it's also perfect for card making!
I used the Today Was chevron frame to create a glitter pocket. The pocket consists of a Hambly overlay and an old dictionary page with glitter and sequins in between. I then created a tag with the sentiment "smiling's my favorite" and layered some gold heart confetti to finish off the card.
Materials used: Mama Elephant Today Was stamp set, Memento Inks, Hambly overlay, glitter, sequins, confetti
Here's a closer look at the glitter pocket. I love the layered look created by the pocket and various colored glitter.
Make sure you head on over to the Mama Elephant blog for more inspiration from the rest of the DT.

Happy New Year! To New Beginnings!
Happy New Year! I can't believe it's already 2012!
Hope you've had a great holiday and break. I took a short break from blogging to enjoy family, friends, feasts, and holiday cheer. But I'm back, fully refreshed and ready to share lots of new projects!
Today's project is fun, sentimental, and perfect for New Year's! I created an interactive layout to store letters my fiance and I wrote to each other on New Year's Eve. It's sorta this tradition we started and now I have an album set aside just to store our annual letters.
Some techniques to note:

Today's project is fun, sentimental, and perfect for New Year's! I created an interactive layout to store letters my fiance and I wrote to each other on New Year's Eve. It's sorta this tradition we started and now I have an album set aside just to store our annual letters.
Some techniques to note:
- Two pockets have been created by sewing the Hambly screen print to a piece of cardstock.
- In the first pocket, I put sequins to further create a festive feel.
- The second pocket was created by cutting a slit following the banner curve in the screen print and it holds the letters.
You'll need these supplies:
- Hambly Banners overlay
- Hambly Mini Brocade overlay
- Bazzill Dotted Swiss Cardstock
- Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch
- Janome Sew Mini Sewing Machine
- Craft knife
- Sequins
Directions:
- On the Banners overlay, follow one of the banner rows with a craft knife and then punch small holes at the start and end of the slit
- Then align the overlay over the cardstock, sew a pocket to fit your own letters, more photos, or any other keepsakes
- Then simply sew 3 of the 4 edges together, sprinkle some sequins in, and finish sewing the 4th edge.
- Above the pocket, I added a small stack of mixed overlays and white tissue paper, and topped it off with a photo of us.
These are some of my favorite techniques and one of my favorite traditions, so I hope you'll give them a try!
