Another moonlit Aurora and APOD

Two nights with moonlit Aurora. Wonderful nights standing on a frozen lake listen to the singing ice and wild animals with the Aurora playing, nature knows how to do the best shows. And APOD publication.

Red Aurora in moonlight

 My sons friend calls and tell me there is a Aurora show outside. It started with some green colors and the bow in the north. Later on the activity gets stronger. From the bow pillars starts to move and getting higher in the sky with some colors. Getting back home and looked from my backyard I witnessed one of the strongest red colors I´ve seen, dark red easily seen despite moonlight! 

Photo assignments

Doing another photo assignment for the swedish TV. A big project coming up about Sapmi and the Same people. I´ve been doing some work in this project for several years now, really great! My part is timelapses at night, of course with the nightsky, Milkyway and Aurora Borealis.

When you see timelapses of the nightsky there is alot of work behind it. So much must work perfectly during several hours but the final film maybe is around 10-15s. I´ve been doing nightsky photography since 1997 and it is special, especially timelapses with Dolly wich I´m working with. I submit a couple photos from my latest trip, a little peak what´s coming up as timelapses at the TV later on. These are single frames of several hundres of frames creating a timelapse.

Well, I´ve been working with this kind of photography for a long time, when I started I used analog 35mm film, not so many were doing this kind of photography back then, I´ve tried not being a copycat, believe in doing my own style and work, today it is different with all new cameras out there..

Faint Aurora by the eastcoast

Me, my son with friend and my father took a 90min drive to the eastcoast, hopefully to see some Aurora Borealis. It was not the strongest display and some clouds didnt want to go away but we had a nice session anyways.

Photo assignment

Doing photo assignment for the swedish television, this is the second trip. This time I went to a favourite place in Lapland, Rensjön Kiruna, a sami village. This location is very good for Aurora of course but also for good weather. In doesn´t matter what the weather forecast shows because of the micro climate in the area. I also stopped by a good friend Ulf Jonsson in Luleå http://www.juo.se/ and did some shooting. The final work will be timelapses in a upcoming project. 270 GB of footage, hopefully some of it is good enough for broadcasting. Here are some footage around the area, not from any of the

timelapses..
There are so many things that must work to get good footage, of course clear skies, but all the equipment with cables and batteries, dew/frost, sharpness, and this time 2,3m of snow and -20 degree C! I needed to use the snowmobile tracks to get hard ground.

Intense display of Northern lights

What a strong display of Aurora Borealis that occured around 01.00 local time tonight! Despite moonlight and citylight the colors and pillars with movement all the way up in zenith was amazing!! So beautiful! Only 30km north of Stockholm..

Amazing Aurora in the backyard!

For a couple of minutes the corona occured and had a great display, just above my head in the backyard Vallentuna Sweden.

Magic light again

Got a textmessage from my friend Uffe in Luleå http://www.juo.se/ that he had great Aurora in the south (!), just finished a film with my daughter and went out and saw this a short while before the clouds arrived..rather nice to be as south as Vallentuna.

A very nice display of Northern lights in Vallentuna last night. Just went a couple of km from the house to get a clear low north the view was like this. Colors easily visible and the dancing Aurora too..
