Just Us Girls #679 - Word Week

Hello friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls this week for our Word Week challenge.  My niece is getting married in July and I thought WEDDING would be a good choice for this challenge.

I used to make wedding cakes, so this stamp/die/stencil set from Pink Fresh was perfect for this wedding card.  It reminded me of all the beautiful weddings my cakes were part of.  I started by stamping the images in black ink and adding color using the coordinating stencils.  I used gold Delicata ink on the cake.  I die cut the cake and flowers and then the cake stand from gold card stock.  I wanted a foiled background, so I used this Pink Fresh hot foil plate and gold foil to create it.  The sentiment was die cut from the same gold card stock as the cake stand as well as two more times from white card stock for dimension.  After adhering everything to the foiled background, I added gold crystals to it and to the cake stand.  The main panel was added to the card base using craft foam.

Just Us Girls #641 - Color Week

Hello!   Cecile has chosen a very pretty color palette for the Just Us Girls Color Week challenge.

First of all, this card is so much prettier in person.  I just couldn't capture it on camera.  I needed a wedding card for today and this was the perfect color combo.  I started by hot foiling the flower and sentiment, then die cut them with coordinating dies.  I used some coral ink for the flowers and a bit of green for the leaves.  That took care of the gold and the coral.  For the light gray, I used fog card stock and ran it through an embossing folder.  I mounted that panel onto a gold panel.  The flower and sentiment were die cut two more times for dimension.  I added coral crystals for that final shine.  The corners were rounded as well.

Just Us Girls #456 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  It's September 1st, can you believe it?  Where did the summer go?  Time just flies when the weather is beautiful and there are so many things to do in the summer!

The challenge this week over at Just Us Girls is our word week challenge.  The word that Ina chose is "CELEBRATE".  I know we all have a lot to celebrate, so let's get to it!

I have a wedding to go to tomorrow, and we are going to celebrate two teachers who are getting married.  Their colors are red and white (and I'm assuming black), so that's what I went with.  I used an old Cuttlebug dual embossing folder and die.  One side is the die and the other is the embossing folder.  I've had it forever.  I put that piece on fun foam and stamped the sentiment on a white piece behind it.  I backed it with a red mat then adhered that to a white panel.  The flowers are from MFT's stitched flowers dies.  I spritzed them with shimmer spritz and added some crystals. It's a big card (5.25 x 7.25) so I had to make a special envelope from pattern paper.

Happy Wedding Day - CTS#179

Hi all!  We have a wedding to attend today, and of course I had to make a card!  I wanted an elegant card and gold embossing means elegant to me.  The paper I used, even though you can't see, is an ivory shimmer paper.  I embossed the sentiments and leaves and die cut some flowers that were stamped.  I added sequins and put the main panel on fun foam.  It's much prettier in person!

I used  this week's CAS(E) this Sketch for my starting point.

Time Out Challenge #33 - Inspired by Words

We are being inspired by words this time around at the Time Out Challenge blog!  And the words are:

Happy is the bride that the sun shines on...

Here's my take on those words.  This is an oldie but goodie stamp from Inkadinkadoo.  It wasn't my first choice.  I couldn't find the stamp I originally wanted, but guess when I found it?  That's right...just after I finished this one!  Isn't that always the way things happen?  Anyway, I first stamped the image in Versamark and embossed it in white.  Then I took some picked raspberry ink and watercolored the image.  Spun sugar was watercolored around it so the image showed up a bit more.  The sentiment was stamped in smoky slate ink and I added sequins (mine never look as good as some other stampers!) and a strip of pink cardstock.  The main panel is mounted on a basic gray base.

Our guest for this challenge is Sue.  You can see her card and the DT cards on the Time Out blog.

I'm also entering this into Virginia's View challenge.  I think it qualifies.

Thanks for stopping by!

Weddings and Fireworks

Our friends got married yesterday and had a pig roast at their home.  It was a casual wedding.  Here is their wedding invitation.  I thought they were very cool, and I loved the poem on it.  I also loved those fireworks!  This invitation was my inspiration for their wedding card.

I used a Lawn Fawn set called Happy 4th for the fireworks.  I stamped them in Versamark and embossed them in red and gold.  I thought I had blue ep, but I didn't, so I added navy pearls to the centers of the fireworks.  The sentiment, from SU's Heard from the Heart, was also stamped in Versamark and embossed in gold.  I added a sheer gold ribbon to separate the sentiment from the fireworks.  The white paper is actually a shimmer white from PTI and it's mounted on navy cardstock.

On the inside, I added this sentiment (I didn't write down who it was from) and more fireworks.

That's it from me!  Thanks for stopping by!

Wild Wedding - JUGS #44

Today is a wild card challenge at Just Us Girls, and the challenge I chose was to make a wedding card. Deanna, the daughter of our fellow DT member, Pam, is getting married today so we decided to make this a wedding card challenge.

Pam told me her daughter's colors were black and white with a splash of yellow, so I used those colors in my card. I used a new Cuttlebug embossing plus folder that cuts and embosses. It's called Lacy Door. I got it at my LSS, but you can see it here. The middle piece is cut out with the folder, but I put another piece of white behind it so I could stamp my sentiment (an old one from Hampton Art Stamps). That was mounted on black, then on the white base. I added the flower, silver jewelry piece, a pearl, and some leaves and was done! I like simple but elegant wedding cards.

The JUGS DT girls have some really pretty wedding cards on the JUGS blog, so have a look. Please stop by their personal blogs and leave them some love as well. They love the company! You can find their addresses on my sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!
