Time Out Challenge #100 - Thankful

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone had a nice holiday.  Mine were a little different.  I had two funerals within days of each other.  Very sad this time of year.  But that's life.

Time Out is challenging you to be thankful.  I know I'm thankful for many things.  We are sponsored by Verve for this challenge.

I'm using one of Verve's stamp sets called Kindness Matters.  The flower is actually one stamp, and I stamped it three times, colored it, and cut it out to layer it with dimensional tape.  I stamped it on Bristol smooth white paper with Versafine onyx black in and embossed it with clear powder.  I colored each layer with Zig markers and watercolored it with a water brush.  The background was sponged with Distress Oxide inks to match the flower and spritzed it with water and shimmer spritz.  The sentiment was stamped and then the panel was die cut with the stitched scallop die.

Verve is giving one stamp set of their choice to our winner for this challenge.

We also have Julee from Verve and Bobby as our guests for this challenge.

You can see more inspiration from the design team on the Time Out blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #79 - CASE Challenge

Hey friends!  The challenge over at Time Out is a CASE challenge.  We have a lovely card to CASE.

This card is by Jenny Mullins.  I love bird houses and these are so fun!

This challenge is sponsored by Verve, and Julee graciously gave the Time Out DT stamp sets to work with.  I got this one called Hip Hop Bunnies.  So cute!  I chose two of the bunnies to color up and I placed them on the card similar to where the bird houses are and sponged some ink similar to Jenny's card.  I also used kraft cardstock like she did.  The white background looked plain, so I noticed that carrot stamp and decided to stamp it all over the background.  The bunnies sort of look like peeps to me!

The winner of this challenge will get a stamp set of their choice from Verve.

You can see more about the challenge and inspiration from the Time Out design team and our guest for this challenge, Izzy, on the Time Out blog.

I'm also entering this in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #34 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi everyone!  The new challenge over at the Time Out blog is our Home Sweet Home challenge.  This is where we supply a photo of a room in a home and you use it as inspiration.

Here's the really cool room we chose for this challenge.  So many possibilities!
I chose the pink and orange colors as my inspiration along with a bit of black. I needed some thank you cards for some end of year gifts my students are giving me.  I was organizing my stamps this weekend and found two sets from Verve with these beautiful butterflies and had to use them.  This is a one-layer card (except for the sentiment which is stacked with five layers).  Very simple card.

You can see more from our Design Team on the Time Out blog as well as Sue, our guest for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Sunday Sketch and Time Out Challenges

Hi friends!  I have a card today that is for three challenges, but I can only enter it in two of them.  Paper Smooches Sparks challenge has a great photo inspiration challenge that I based my card on, but I didn't use any of their stamps, so I can't enter it.  However, I am entering it in two others.

Here's how I created my heart.  I cut 3/4" squares from two different pattern papers and some foil paper, then cut them in half on the diagonal.  I traced the heart die on some scrap paper and began adhering the triangles to it.  When I had the traced heart covered, I ran  it through my die cutting machine.  The arrow was cut from a die from PTI's Get to the Point die and the word is PTI's as well.  I covered it with a Wink of Stella shimmer brush and glossy accents.  The little heart above is a left over piece from the word die.  It's also cover in Wink of Stella shimmer and glossy accents.  The ivory base was run through a linen impression plate for some texture.  The sentiment I think is appropriate for today.  It's a line from a Beatles song and today is the 50th anniversary of their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show.  My hubby loves the Beatles, so this may be his Valentine card.

Here's the inspiration photo from Paper Smooches Sparks.  Wish I could have entered!

I used this fab sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

I'm also entering this in the Time Out DT call.  It's a new challenge that is similar to Just Us Girls with a different challenge each week.  I love those kinds of challenges.  Their theme is Love and/or Friendship.  Perfect for this time of the year, don't you think?  Fingers crossed I make their team!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Sunday Sketch and CAS(E) This Sketch Challenges

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

Hello again!  I've got two Valentine cards to share with you today.  Yesterday I was working with Basic Grey's Kissing Booth paper pack and made a couple of cards with it.  I posted one yesterday, which you can see here

On this one, I cut the floral pattern using a Spellbinder's die.   The vertical pink piece and the banner were cut with a paper trimmer.  I stamped the heart border on the banner with Rose Bud Memento Luxe ink.  The larger hearts are from a Martha Stewart punch.  I added some shimmer with a Wink of Stella brush and then covered them with Glossy Accents for some shine.  Each of the hearts in the border were also covered with the Wink of Stella brush.  The cream background was run through a script embossing folder.

I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch for my layout.  Glad that Karen is doing them weekly again!

Paper:  Vintage cream, melon mambo, Kissing Booth (Basic Grey)

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge

I used the same papers once again, however I stamped an image to color this time.  This image is an old one from Paper Makeup Stamps.  It's called Dandy Wishes.  I was on their team from pretty much the beginning to about the time Katie decided to go all digital.  I'm not a fan of digital images.  I much prefer to stamp.  But, PMS had some great images!  This is one that never saw ink!  What a shame because it is such a fun image!  I stamped it in Archival Jet Black onto watercolor paper and watercolored it with SU reinkers in Melon Mambo and Certainly Celery.  I also covered each of the hearts with the Wink of Stella shimmer brush, and added Glossy Accents to the large one.  The sentiment and stitching were stamped in Rose Bud Memento Luxe ink.  Both of those stamps are from PTI.

I followed this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.  The flower in their sketch gave me the idea to use the Dandy Wishes image.

Thanks for stopping by to see my cards!

Christmas Gift Card Holders

Hi everyone!  Are you busy with the holiday?  I know I am!  I even took a personal day today just to get some things done!  One of the things I had to do was get these gift card holders made for my mom.  She gets Meals on Wheels, and we thought we'd give gift cards to the ladies that deliver her meals.  They are volunteers and are so nice to my mom.

We got them Target gift cards and the ones we chose were blue and red in color, so I went with those colors for the gift card holders.  I actually made three, but one I didn't have time to photograph this morning!  I got the dimensions from a video by Gina K on Stamp TV.  It is held together by a belly band of ribbon.  I die cut the bow and adhered it on top of the ribbon.  So cute!

Here's the inside where you can see the gift card.  I die cut and applied the Happy Holidays on the inside.

I added a panel where my mom could sign it.

I just think these are so adorable!  They can be adapted for a girl or boy, birthdays, or any occasion you give gift cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tags-a-Plenty!

Hi everyone!  I had some time to create tonight and made a few tags.  This first one I'm entering into Ellen Hutson's 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Touch challenge.  You are supposed to make a tag based on inspiration from one of the designers, but I'm just so inspired by all of them!  I guess mine is most inspired by Sharon Harnist's reindeer tag with the jingle bells.  Mine started with a white glossy tag.  I added Ruby Red ink with a stipple brush, swirling it around to cover the tag.  Then I pounced Raspberry Ripple ink on top to give it the stippled look.  That cute reindeer is from Stampendous called Special Delivery, and is stamped in Jet Black Archival ink.  The sentiment is from Take a Bough.  After stamping and making sure it was dry, I used a Krylon gold leafing pen on the edges of the tag.  The ribbon, baker's twine, and jingle bells were added to the top of the tag.  I stamped the to/from on the back of the tag (not pictured).

These next two were so simple to create.  The tag base was actually a mistake!  This is a cut file from My Time Made Easy called Occasional Label.  When I cut it with my Silhouette, it was too big.  And I made quite a few of these!  So I saved them for tags.  I just added some pretty washi tape to the center of the tag, added my sentiments, ribbon and some sequins.

On this one, I also added the washi tape, ribbon, and sentiments along with some gold embossed snowflakes.

This one was inspired by Amy Kolling's tag.  I saw it and realized I had that die, but didn't realize I had the stamp set!  (I have too many stamps...it a sickness!) Needless to say, I was happy to see I had the stamp set!  I stamped it with Memento Luxe Rhubarb Stalk ink and used the Wink of Stella brush to add some shimmer and add a little shading.  This is a very small tag, but oh so cute!

That's it for me today!  Thanks for stopping by!

You've Got Style

Hi everyone!  I finally got inky today for no other reason than to get inky!  I just purchased some Verve stamps (I haven't purchased anything from them in a long time and they have a great anniversary sale going on!), so I wanted to use them.   I loved this set called Express Yourself.  I also puchased this die called Sweet Scallop die.  I loved the shape.  I stamped the shoe and sentiment on the tag with Versafine black ink and added some Wild Honey distress ink around the die to tame the white.  The dp is from My Mind's Eye called Mabel.

The colors were inspired by this fabulous photo from the Runway Inspired challenge.  I used more of the black and orange than the white.  there is a bit of the blue in the paper I chose too that you see in her top.  The shoe also reminded me of the fashion theme of the photo.

The sketch is from this week's Sketchbook Saturday challenge.  I really loved this one!

That's it for me today!  Thanks for stopping by!
