Time Out #137 - Theme Challenge

Hi there!  The new Time Out challenge is a theme challenge, and the theme is Nature.

I went through my bevy of stamp sets and came across this Whipper Snapper cactus stamp.  It was perfect for this challenge as well as for a thank you card I needed.  We visited my cousin in San Diego a few weeks ago, and she and her husband graciously shared their home with us for two weeks as well as gave us their car to use for the entire time we were there.  I admired her cactus gardens while I was there, so this image was totally appropriate to send to her.  I stamped it in Memento tuxedo black and colored it with copics.  I love Whipper Snapper stamps and packages because they include a colored image that you can use for inspiration.  I die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die.  The thanks word was die cut once from green cardstock and twice from white then were stacked offset.  The sentiment was stamped with black ink and die cut with a banner die.  I added this to a piece of diagonal striped pattern paper as well as white Nuvo drops.  I also added some shimmer to the image and the word die.

Time Out #136 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi friends!  The current Time Out challenge is in its second week, and I have a reminder card for you.

We are sponsored by Stamplorations for this challenge, and I'm using this very pretty stamp set called Frames & Flowers.  I used the colors from the inspiration photo and tried to emulate the rectangular design on the wall with my grid stencil and glimmer paste.  I stamped the flowers and leaves inside the rectangle frame.  I needed a sympathy card, so I added this sending prayers sentiment.

Time Out Challenge #131 - It's Our 5th Birthday!!

Hi friends!  Time Out Challenges is celebrating our 5th birthday!  I cannot believe it's been 5 years of great challenges!   In honor of our birthday, we have this for our Inspired by Words challenge:
"Hugs, kisses, and a lot of birthday wishes".

So I created a fun and colorful birthday card.  I used a birthday turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th in four bright cheery colors.  I die cut the circle in the panel to create a shaker card.  I stamped the sentiment (which I love!) in black Versafine ink and embossed it in clear embossing powder.  I added sequins and stars for the shaker bits.  It's a pretty busy card!  LOL!

Stamplorations is our sponsor this week and to celebrate, they are offering a $50 gift voucher to one winner!  That's a great prize!

Time Out Reminder

Hi everyone!  I had to make a card for a fellow teacher who retired.  I thought about a gift for her, and settled on a Barnes & Noble gift card.  She's a reading teacher, so I thought this old set from Papertrey Ink would be perfect for her card.

This is such a simple card, but when I say it took FOREVER to make please believe me!  I stamped the image I think four times due to smudges.  Then I dropped a stamp pad on the main panel just as I was ready to mount it on the base.  I inked another (the background is sponged with ink) and spattered it with that dark pink ink...I hated it, so I started over!  Then I didn't like the original pattern paper, so I changed that.  Yikes!  This is the final result, and I'm just ok with it, but it had to do!  I hope my friend likes it.  I stamped another sentiment about reading and Happy Retirement on the inside and put it in the envelope!

I'm also adding it to the Remind post over at the Time Out blog.  The theme is hobbies.

Time Out #103 - Hobbies

Hi friends!  The theme for the current Time Out challenge is Hobbies with an optional twist to make it a one layer card.

Mine is not one layer...it's a little dimensional.  I recently purchased some things from MFT's new release and the gift card dies and pouches were sitting on my desk waiting to be put away, so I used it.  I knew this stamp set from Altenew would be perfect for the hobbies theme. I started by created the background.  I used this new to me glitter paste in this beautiful color with an Altenew stencil.  Then I stamped and die cut the main panel and the frame.  I love the sentiment!  I put the stamped piece in the gift card pocket with some sequins and was done.  The background on this card is so sparkly!

This challenge is sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays and our guest is Ashwini.

Time Out #102 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hello friends!  We have a new challenge over at the Time Out blog.  It's our Home Sweet Home challenge and this is the photo for you to be inspired by.

Stamplorations is our sponsor for this challenge, and I'm using one of their cute stamp sets called Tweet Love.  I was inspired by the hearts and love on the photo.  I strayed from the black, white, and gold colors, as you can see!  I smooshed some distress inks onto my craft mat, spritzed it with water, and smooshed my watercolor paper into it.  I dried it then put it back into the remaining ink on my craft mat to pick up some spots.  I die cut this panel with a stitched rectangle then went to work on the heart balloons.  I stamped them in Versafine black onyx ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  They are colored with Zigs and also die cut with a stitched rectangle.  All that was left to do was stamp and emboss the sentiment and add sequins.  There's also shimmer spritz on the main panel.  It is super shiny!

Time Out #94 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hello everyone!  I love the Home Sweet Home challenge over at Time Out this week.  The photo is so pretty and so fall-ish!

Look at this pretty vase.  Love those orange pumpkins.

We are sponsored by Stamplorations this week, and I've used this cute pumpkin image from the Thankful for Autumn stamp set.  I felt like making a tag for this challenge.  I die cut the tag then stamped and masked the pumpkin.  Then I used a Tim Holtz stencil and inked it up with some Distress ink.  I colored the pumpkin image with copic markers, stamped the sentiment, and added Nuvo Drops, ribbon and twine bow.  There's also some Spectrum Noir shimmer on the pumpkin.

Time Out Challenge #93 - Breast Cancer Awareness/Friendship

Hi friends!  The new challenge over at the Time Out blog is a special one.  We are coming on the month of October and that means focusing on breast cancer awareness.  So Time Out is doing just that.  We'd like you to create something having to do with breast cancer or friendship and the twist is to use pink on your card.  We are sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays, who has a few great stamps focusing on this topic.

I'm using this set called "Be" by CAS-ual Fridays.  I love the sentiments in this set, and I chose to use all three on bands of pink ombre watercolors.  I used Distress inks for the bands and then stamped the sentiments on each one.  The butterflies were inked with the Distress inks and stamped directly onto the panel.  I spritzed the panel with shimmer spray, added Nuvo Dew Drops, and then adhered it to a pink mat.  That was popped up on fun foam.

Stop by the Time Out blog to see the details of the challenge as well as the cards by the design team and our guest for this challenge, Yulia.

Time Out #85 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi everyone!  There's a new challenge over at the Time Out blog.  The challenge is our Home Sweet Home challenge where we give you a picture from a room in a home as inspiration.

Here's the picture for this challenge.  What a place to relax, right?
Laura Ashley Blog | SPRING / SUMMER 2015 INTERIOR TRENDS | http://blog.lauraashley.com:

When I looked at this photo, I saw three things:  the rattan hammock and the colors pink and turquoise.  I tried to incorporate these things into my card.  I started by stamped this floral image in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I created a mask for it and stenciled what I thought looked like rattan or bamboo over the rest of the card.  Then I colored the image using Zig markers.  I die cut the banner and stamped the coordinating sentiment in Versamark and embossed that in white embossing powder as well.  I mounted this onto turquoise cardstock and then mounted that on fun foam.  I spritzed it with shimmer spritz and added white sequins.

Our challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers.  You can see more about the prize and see what the Time Out design team and our guest, Ashwini, have as inspiration for you on the Time Out blog.

Time Out #83 - CASE Challenge

Hi everyone!  This week over at Time Out, we are CASE-ing a card of one of my favorite card designers...Hannelie Bester!

This is the card we are CASE-ing.  Hannelie's style is amazing and what she does with her Silhouette is equally amazing!  Gorgeous card!

I created this card based on Hannelie's.  I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background.  I die cut the butterfly cover plate twice and layered to make it more sturdy.  I spritzed the butterfly die cut with shimmer spritz then splattered it with the amber and red inks.  I finished it off with crystals and a sentiment on a banner.

Time Out #82 - Theme Challenge

Hi friends!  The Time Out challenge this time around is a theme challenge.  The theme is flowers (easy to do!) and the twist is to use the "kissing" technique.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this month, and my sister-in-law and my best friend pulled off a surprise party for us.  And when I say surprise, I mean SURPRISE!  We had no clue whatsoever!  There were about 40 friends and family there, and we had so much fun and felt so loved!  We received many wonderful gifts, and I had to make about 20 thank you cards.  I needed to make something simple because of the amount of cards I had to do, and I wanted to emboss them in silver.  I just got this lovely floral stamp and since the challenge was flowers, it worked out perfectly.  Using the MISTI, I was able to stamp these in Versamark and then emboss them in silver embossing powder.  I sprayed it with shimmer spritz and added the Nuvo Drops.  Simple cards, but they were perfect for what I needed.

Stop by the Time Out blog to see what the design team created for this challenge.  We are sponsored by Happy Little Stampers too!

Time Out Challenge #71 - Theme Challenge

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!  I hope you are all stuffing yourself with delicious food and spending quality time with your loved ones!  I know that's what I'll be doing today!
Image result for thanksgiving images

The new challenge over at the Time Out blog is a Theme Challenge.  The theme this time is Christmas with the optional twist of using glitter and/or shimmer.  I love glitter and shimmer!

I made a very simple card today.  I started by die cutting this ornament die from white glitter paper.  I adhered it to a red piece of cardstock that was run through an embossing folder.  Then I added some clear sequins and was done.  I was going to add a sentiment, but I liked it the way it was:  simple and elegant!
