Happy Bird-Day!

Gosh, I was ready to say "Happy Monday", then I realized it was Tuesday already!  See what happens when you are on vacation and don't have to think of what day it is?  LOL!

Since I was sitting here waiting to pick up my mom from her hair appointment, I decided to stamp!  I just got these Reverse Confetti stamps and dies in the mail yesterday and decided to work with them.  I just thought they were so cute.  I made it into a birthday card for my best friend Maria.  Her birthday is later in the month.  One of the first cards she made and sent to me (when she was stamping) was a flamingo card.  I thought I'd make her one all these years later.  It's a pretty self-explanatory card.  I did use some Wink of Stella shimmer on the wings of the birds.  I just adore flamingoes!

I used more layers than I have in a long time on this one.  I followed the Deconstructed Sketch for this week.
Deconstructed Sketch No. 159

I'm also linking up to the Curtain Call challenge.

Hope you are enjoying your summer!  Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #235 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  How was your week?  I hope it was better than mine!  This was a big testing week in NY for our students in English Language Arts, and it was a difficult test for our kiddos to take.  Three days of testing and 90 minutes per day!  Yesterday I was at our training center for scorer training and it was a stressful, long day.  Next week we correct them...fingers crossed they did ok!

Anyway, crafting calms me and this week over at Just Us Girls we have a sketch challenge.  Maria came up with this really fun sketch.

I just bought this stamp set and matching dies from Paper Smooches Reverse Confetti called Carton Cuties.  (I'm such a dork!  I entered this card in the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge and it's not a PS stamp set!)  It is such a cute set!  I die cut the little chickies, stamped the image, and then colored them with copic markers.  I die cut the circles (I wish they were smaller) and added the chicks behind that panel.  The green panel was run through a chicken wire embossing folder.  I added some Wink of Stella shimmer on the chicks.

Since this is the first challenge of the month, we have a new guest designer.  We are welcoming Lee Anne Cross this month!  Please stop by her blog and the DT blogs as well for more inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #221 - Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hi everyone!  The last Just Us Girls challenge for 2013 is a photo inspiration challenge, and I'm the hostess!  I've chosen this photo for the obvious reason.  I also thought it was a really cool picture with lots of inspiration options!

This is my take on it.  It actually came out just as I envisioned, which doesn't happen very often!  I stamped the clock in Delicata Golden Glitz ink (love that ink!).  The numbers were then stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink as was the sentiment.  I found the ribbon and confetti stamp in a PTI set.  It seemed the perfect fit!  I added the die cut hands of the clock with a gold brad and some black pearls.

You can see more inspiration from the JUGs design team on these blogs.

I hope you had a great 2013 and I wish you an even better 2014!  Thanks for stopping by all year, and I look forward to seeing you next year!

Halloween Treats!

Happy Halloween!  I was busy making Halloween treats for my students last night.  It was a last minute idea (of course...why would I plan anything ahead of time?).  On my way home from work, I was thinking how I could get crafty and came up with covering Hershey candy bars.  Simple enough especially when I had some great DCWV Halloween paper and my Silhouette to make labels!

I cut the wrappers to 5.5" x 5.5" and wrapped it around the candy bar, securing it with some Scor-tape.  Then I started stamping labels.  These labels are from My Time Made Easy.  They are the Occasional Label cut file and coordinating stamp set.  I also used MTME's A Spooky Surprise stamp set for the sentiment, and Reverse Confetti's Spooky Cuties for the images.

The ghost on this one is from the MTME set and the witch's shoes are from the Reverse Confetti set.

These only took about 1.5 hours to complete 24 of them.  It was hard to not eat one!  I guess the sentiment held me back!  LOL!!

I hope you have a spooky Halloween!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween (almost)!  I went down to my craft room for something and decided to make two Halloween cards for my nephews.  This one is a little washed out in the picture.  There is some green in the pattern paper and I added some green to the main image.  That piece was die cut with My Favorite Things Vertical Greetings die.  The stamps are from Reverse Confetti:  Spooky Cuties and Spooky Sentiments.  I ran the black piece through a spider web embossing folder, and adhered a spider button on the web.  Kind of hard to see here in the picture, but you can see it if you look closely.  On this one, I added black enamel glaze to the eyes for some dimension and a Wink of Stella brush for some shimmer on the ghost.

This one was made in the same manner.  I used a copic marker to color in the "31" and added a spider sticker to the stamped web.  There's a spider button on the embossed web as well.

I used this sketch from Clean & Simple sketches.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #192 - Technique Challenge

Hi there!  We have a great challenge going on at Just Us Girls.  Our technique challenge this week is to use washi tape on your creations!  It's all the rage lately and there are so many designs of washi tape too!

We are being sponsored this week by Modes4u too!

Here's some information about the company:

The item we are sponsoring from the company is washi tape.  Here are some links to the product:

I wanted to make a bright and sunny card today.  Summer is almost here and I love sunny days!  So I used this new set from Reverse Confetti called I Like You.  The paper is called Hello Sunshine from Bo Bunny.  I mounted the senitment and patterned paper on Daffodill Delight cardstock.  I added some washi tape to the sentiment panel and then some Liquid Pearls in cantaloupe color.

This is the sketch I used from Sketch For You to Try and Reverse Confetti.

So, do you want to win some washi tape?  Play along with our challenge using washi tape (or make your own washi tape - see the JUGs blog for links to tutorials).  Two random winners will win 3 rolls of washi tape from Modes4u!

Check out the design team blogs for more inspiration.
