Time Out Challenge #29 - Inspired by Words

Hi friends!  It's time for another Time Out challenge!  This week is our Inspired by Words challenge, and here is the phrase we want you to be inspired by:
"You can't make a rainbow without a little rain"

I went with the rainbow theme using the colors of the rainbow.  I recently saw this post by Wendy Vecchi using her borders stencil.  I was at my local stamp store last week and they had this stencil, so I bought it.  I thought I'd use it for this challenge with these rainbow colors.  I used distress inks and love the outcome!  The sentiment is from a Mama Elephant stamp set.  The stars are from the same set.  All the stars were dabbed with some Wink of Stella shimmer.  You can't see it too well, but I also shimmered up one diamond in each row.

I'm also entering this in the Runway Inspired Challenge for this week.  Perfect match!

Stop by the Time Out blog to see more inspiration from the design team and our Guest Designer Michele Henderson!

Thanks for stopping by!

Runway Inspired Challenge - Under the Weather

I saw the Runway Inspired challenge and HAD to play!  You see, I love the Rolling Stones and have been a fan of Mick Jagger for decades!  What does that have to do with this challenge you ask?  Well, L'Wren Scott the designer of this outfit, is Mick Jagger's girlfriend.  So I just had to participate!  :-)

This is what I came up with.  Of course I used an umbrella...I just had to, right?  I die cut the umbrella from the decorative paper and the handle from black paper.  The background was impressed with a circle cover plate.  I stamped the sentiment on the dp and cut it into a banner shaper.  Crystals were added randomly to the card as well as to the tip of the umbrella.

We had another day off today due to the blizzard here in Buffalo, NY.  I think I'm ready to go back, although it's been nice being home!  Thanks for stopping by!

You've Got Style

Hi everyone!  I finally got inky today for no other reason than to get inky!  I just purchased some Verve stamps (I haven't purchased anything from them in a long time and they have a great anniversary sale going on!), so I wanted to use them.   I loved this set called Express Yourself.  I also puchased this die called Sweet Scallop die.  I loved the shape.  I stamped the shoe and sentiment on the tag with Versafine black ink and added some Wild Honey distress ink around the die to tame the white.  The dp is from My Mind's Eye called Mabel.

The colors were inspired by this fabulous photo from the Runway Inspired challenge.  I used more of the black and orange than the white.  there is a bit of the blue in the paper I chose too that you see in her top.  The shoe also reminded me of the fashion theme of the photo.

The sketch is from this week's Sketchbook Saturday challenge.  I really loved this one!

That's it for me today!  Thanks for stopping by!
