Just Us Girls #502 - Photo Inspiration

He friends!  It's Photo Inspiration week at Just Us Girls.  Look at this pretty picture Bobby chose. So many options!

My eyes went to that green jar and the purple flowers.  I pulled out some older Papertrey Ink stamps for this.  I stamped and die cut the flowers then watercolored them with distress inks.  I then die cut a scalloped panel and stamped the jar.  I "filled" it with some green ink that is second generation stamping (it's a little darker than I anticipated).  The flowers are mounted on craft foam I die cut with the flower die and the panel is mounted on craft foam as well.  I mounted that on some plaid pattern paper and added sequins and shimmer.  The center of the flowers were dotted with a white gel pen.

Time Out #116 - Bright

Hi friends!  The team at Time Out is challenging you to be BRIGHT.

There are many ways to interpret this challenge, but I chose bright colors.  A few weeks ago, I saw a Papertrey Ink video using these triangle stencils and coordinating stamp set.  I ordered it right away!  I actually made this card the day after I received the stuff and cased this card from the video but changed the colors.  I used Catherine Pooler inks because I love the brightness of the colors...perfect for this challenge.  The frame and sentiment were stamped first.  Then I used the stencil to sponge the yellow ink.  I die cut the flowers and leaves and stamped them with various inks.  The stars were stamped and then the card was spritzed with shimmer.

Just Us Girls #446 - Photo Week

Hey there!  It's Photo Week over at Just Us Girls, and Maria chose this adorable picture of an owl make from a pineapple and bananas!  How clever!

I used this old owl set from Papertrey Ink.  Everything was die cut and stamped with the coordinating stamps.  I first die cut the panel with the wonky stitches die then impressed it with a woodgrain impression plate.  Then I adhered the branches and owl and the sentiment strip.  I added shimmer to the heart and wings and the Nuvo Drops.

I used the current sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!  I'm celebrating my father-in-law and remembering my dad today.   We are taking my FIL to our cabin for a relaxing day of visiting and cooking out.

I made this card for him.  This is such a cute set and I thought about this card all day yesterday.  It should have been a super easy card to create, right?  Well it is if you use the right inks.  I thought at first that I'd use Catherine Pooler inks, but they were too juicy and the patterns on the stamps were lost.  (And I did give them the "love taps" she suggests!)  I think this finished panel is my third try!  So then I moved on to inks by SSS, PTI, and Altenew.  These worked much better.  And the bowties came to life when I stamped the black creases on them.  Such a cute image!  I die cut both the stamped panel and black panel with MFT's stitched rectangle dies.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder on black cardstock.

I hope you have a very nice day with your loved ones!  Here's a picture of my dad and me in 1986 at my friend's wedding (I was a bridesmaid).  It was the last photo we took together.  He passed away in 1994 from complications of Alzheimer's.  Miss him so much every day!

Just Us Girls #445 - Photo Week

Hey friends!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Maria chose this one.  Lots of inspiration to be had from it!

Our friend's mom is celebrating her 100th birthday!  What an amazing thing!  And the great thing is that she is as sharp as a tack!  She loved her flowers and was always in her garden, so I had to have flowers on her card.  I used the yellow flowers in the vase and the striped rug in the photo as my inspiration.  I stamped the flowers in two coordinating colors, impressed the main panel with an impression plate, and added the striped paper.  I wanted the sentiment to say 100 birthday wishes, but there wasn't enough room, but I like the 100 wishes just as well. This panel was sprayed with some shimmer spritz, so it's really sparkly.  I stamped the envelope too, but forgot to photograph it!

Just Us Girls #393 - Trend Week

Hey everyone!  It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls, and Sue chose to make a background using Distress Inks.

I love the oxide inks so much!  I hope they come out with more colors soon!  I needed a sympathy card.  My husband's cousin lost her husband the other day.  He was only 51 years old.  I feel so bad for her because she is such a lovely person.  So I wanted to make a nice card for her.  I was low on creativity, so I cased a card in Papertrey Ink's gallery for the Painted Petals stamp set.  I started by die cutting the scalloped panel and sponging broken china distress ink on it.  I then spritzed it with water to get water marks (hard to see in the picture).  I stamped and die cut the flowers and leaves and adhered them to the panel.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink.  I also added some pink flowers and sequins to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #389 - Color Week

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another challenge over at Just Us Girls!  This week is our color challenge, and Ina chose some springy colors.

I was thinking ice cream with these colors.  I just had my first ice cream cone of the season the other day, and it was oh-so-good!  I stamped this image and the sprinkles then colored the ice cream and cone with copic markers.  I die cut it with the coordinating die and spritzed it with shimmer spritz.  The pattern paper was die cut with a scallop die and adhered to the card base with fun foam.  I added the sentiment and sequins for more shimmer.

Just Us Girls #385 - Color Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls color challenge this week, and I have some fun springy colors for you to work with.

I wanted to do a floral card and found this stamp set from Papertrey Ink in my never been used box.  It's a layering set and I love the way it layers up!  I used several inks on this (see below), keeping with the challenge colors.  I matted it with this brushstroke paper and I ran the front of the base with a linen impression plate for some texture.  Love the sentiment too!  I stacked three of the together to give it some dimension.  There is Spectrum Noir shimmer all over the sentiment and the floral spray.  Sequins, of course, are always a nice way to finish off a card!

Just Us Girls #384 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  This week is Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Maria chose using a stencil.  I love stencils!

I chose one of the Woodblock Stencils from Papertrey Ink and paired it with Distress Oxide inks.  I can't seem to stop using these!  I started in the middle and worked my way out using a rainbow of inks.  I sprayed it with Shimmer Spritz to give it some of that sparkle I love.  I didn't want to cover up any of the pretty stencil, so I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum and wrapped it around the cardstock.  I added some sequins and popped up this piece on fun foam and mounted it to a piece of violet cardstock.

You can see more inspiration from the JUGs design team and our March guest on the JUGs blog.

I'm also entering it into the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge.  Loved the rainbow colors!

Just Us Girls #382 - Photo Week

Just Us Girls has a great photo for our Photo Week challenge.  These tulips are just so pretty in all that white snow!

I was just talking about this tulip set with my friend Cheryl on Thursday and looked at this picture later in the day and couldn't believe it was tulips!  So naturally I pulled it out for this challenge.  I played around with colors for a red tulip with all the dimension and came up with red, scarlett, and black.  Love the way it stamped out!  I used the mini MISTI to help with alignment when stamping.  I die cut the base and oval using more PTI dies.  I spritzed it with shimmer spritz so it's really shimmery and finished it out with a sentiment and sequins.  This is going to be my mom's birthday card next month.

Time Out #75 - CASE Challenge

Hello!  There's a new Time Out challenge going on for the next two weeks.  It's our CASE challenge.  We have a great card to CASE this week.

This pretty card is by Ksenija.  Lots of inspiration to CASE!

Well, I thought Christmas when I saw this.  Probably the red and green got me thinking that way.  And I thought I'd try to do a few a month so I'm not fretting a month before Christmas!  (Let's see how that goes!)  I pulled out this border set by PTI and also some new fabulous inks from Catherine Pooler Designs.  They really stamp nicely and the colors are so vivid!  Also, they stamped these new stamps beautifully.  I did use my MISTI, but they stamped the new stamp so much better that other ink pads.  After I stamped the green and red images, I made sure it was dry and then stamped the pine branches in Versamark and embossed it in antique gold powder.  Love the look.  I think I saw one of the PTI designers do this and that's where I got the idea.  I then stamped the sentiment with Versamark and used the same powder.  I added gold sequins randomly.  On Kesenija's card, she had some stamping on her background.  I stamped the pine branch around the red piece in Versamark ink, but you can barely see it.  I've got to make more of these!

This challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers.  Check out the Time Out blog for more information and to see cards by the design team and our guest, Marjan.

Time Out #73 Reminder - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hi everyone!
I'm here with a reminder for our current Time Out challenge.  This time it's our Inspired by Words challenge.  The quote for the challenge is
With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning.

This quote reminded me of a picture I took last year at church on Christmas day.  It was a new banner hanging beside the altar and I knew I could translate it into a card.

Which is just what I did!  I think it turned out pretty much as I envisioned.  I started by using masking tape and sponged Wild Honey distress inks onto the white card panel.  I also sponged the same ink onto some white cardstock that I die cut with some rolling hills dies.  I stamped the manger in chocolate ink and die cut the silhouettes in chocolate cardstock.  They were all attached to the white cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment and star and added a crystal to the center of the star.

Another Christmas Card!

Hi friends!  I hope you had a Merry Christmas if you celebrate this wonderful holiday!  We had a nice time visiting family and a few friends as well!

I had to make a few last minute Christmas cards and I'm just getting around to posting them, well one actually.  I made about six of these!  I made this same card last February or March as a birthday card, and at that time thought it would make a great Christmas card.  So I took that design and did just that!

I started with the background stamp and stamped it in gray ink.  Then I went to work on the cardinal.  I die cut it first, then stamped it in red and black inks.  I die cut a tag, attached the gray branch (which was also die cut) and stamped the sentiment.  I added the ribbon and twine and then the bird with dimensional tape.  The tag was attached to the base and I added some sequins to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #373 - Trend Week

Hey everyone!  How are you all doing with your Christmas shopping, decorating, and card making?  I'm almost done shopping, decorating is happening this weekend (we got our tree yesterday), but I'm far behind on my Christmas card making!  But I've got one today for the Just Us Girls Trend challenge.  The trend this week is JARS

Of course I had to pull out the Friendship Jar stamps and dies.  I die cut the jar to make a shaker card.  I stamped the peppermint candies (I stamped them in red, but didn't color them in) and added some glitter for the shaker bits.  The word die was die cut three times and stacked.  I added that bow at the last minute...it needed something to spiff it up a bit!  I spritzed the entire card with Shimmer Spritz...it really sparkles!   Sequins, of course!

Time Out #69 - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hi friends!  This week over at Time Out our challenge is the Inspired by Words challenge.  We give you a quote to be inspired by.  The quote this week is:
"Give thanks with a grateful heart"
Perfect quote for the season we are going into.

As soon as I saw the word "grateful", I went immediately to this stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink.  I pulled out my Color Bursts and water color paper to create a fall watercolored background.  I die cut the leaf from it then stamped the veins in chocolate ink.  I die cut the frame/word and layered it over the leaf die cut.  I adhered this to a vanilla cardstock that was run through a woodgrain impression plate.  I added twine and gold sequins, mounted it on green cardstock, and then on the vanilla base.

Just Us Girls #350 - Word Week

Happy 4th of July weekend to my American friends!  It's word week over at Just Us Girls and Maria has chosen the word "summer".

I wanted to make a background with sunbeams, and chose this stencil from Memory Box.  I inked the back of it with three Distress inks and spritzed it with water then laid it on a piece of watercolor paper.  I then die cut the word from this piece and from black fun foam.  I layered the two and set it aside.  Using my mini MISTI, I stamped the sentiment.  (I messed up my original watercolor piece with my stamping, so the MISTI came in handy for try #2!)  I layered everything on black cardstock and added sequins.  I covered the die cut with shimmer and glossy accents for some shine.
