Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!  I'm celebrating my father-in-law and remembering my dad today.   We are taking my FIL to our cabin for a relaxing day of visiting and cooking out.

I made this card for him.  This is such a cute set and I thought about this card all day yesterday.  It should have been a super easy card to create, right?  Well it is if you use the right inks.  I thought at first that I'd use Catherine Pooler inks, but they were too juicy and the patterns on the stamps were lost.  (And I did give them the "love taps" she suggests!)  I think this finished panel is my third try!  So then I moved on to inks by SSS, PTI, and Altenew.  These worked much better.  And the bowties came to life when I stamped the black creases on them.  Such a cute image!  I die cut both the stamped panel and black panel with MFT's stitched rectangle dies.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder on black cardstock.

I hope you have a very nice day with your loved ones!  Here's a picture of my dad and me in 1986 at my friend's wedding (I was a bridesmaid).  It was the last photo we took together.  He passed away in 1994 from complications of Alzheimer's.  Miss him so much every day!

 Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #398 - Color Challenge

Hi friends!  Bobby has a great color challenge for the Just Us Girls challenge this week.

I don't know if kraft is considered brown, but that's what I thought looked good with the yellow and aqua I used on this card.  Looking at it now, I should have used brown!  Oh well!  This stencil was purchased because of a Jennifer McGuire video.  She can get me to buy anything!  I sponged broken china first, then turned the stencil around and sponged fossilized amber.  I love graphic designs!  The sentiment was stamped onto this rounded square die cut piece in Versamark and embossed with white powder.  I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and made it into a banner.  That piece is on dimensional tape.  This is the card I'll give to my father-in-law this weekend.

I'm entering this in the TGIF Challenges.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!  I have a great father-in-law that we are celebrating today with breakfast and dinner!  I made this card for him, unfortunately he won't see it because he's blind.  But I always make sure I make a nice card for him, even though he can't see it.  It makes me (and my mother-in-law) feel good!

I recently purchased MFT's Terrific Ties and the coordinating dies.  I die cut the three ties from pattern paper and adhered them to the black panel.  I also die cut some stars to place in the corner.  The sentiment was stamped below.  The white panel is raised using fun foam for some dimension (Jennifer McGuire's idea and don't we all follow her lead?  LOL!).

I followed the Fusion sketch and some of the colors from their photo.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day!

Just Us Girls - Template/3-D Challenge

Hi everyone! It's Saturday (yeah!) and I'm on day 2 of a 4 day weekend! We are celebrating Memorial Day at our cabin...I hope the weather is dry for a change! We'll see! This week is the Just Us Girls template/3-D challenge, and Andrea has challenged us to make a Father's Day project. So nice to get projects done ahead for these holidays for a change!

I immediately thought of this Trendy Tool Tote template from My Time Made Easy. I started with a chocolate base and added the decorative panels in river rock and ran it through a Cuttlebug folder. It made it more masculine, I think. I added a ribbon and sentiment from the For Dad digital set, also from MTME. I colored the ribbon in GIMP and then added the sentiment, which was also colored in GIMP. This is going to be for my father-in-law. I didn't include any tools or anything for him. He's almost blind from glaucoma, so it's sometimes difficult finding gifts for him. He doesn't really like breakfast, but likes toast and his sweets. So, I added a jar of homemade jelly (this was given to me, not made by me!) and some biscotti. And he LOVES coffee, so I purchased some coffee for him. The colors of my tote were inspired by the coffee bag, and when I finished the template, I realized that the bag was too tall to fit in the template! LOL!!

You have to see what the JUGs design team has done...some fabulous projects as usual! Stop by the JUGs blog to see for yourself!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day everyone! I'm at breakfast right now with my in-laws...yum! I'm not sure what the rest of the day will bring, except a spaghetti dinner my MIL is making later. I just hope it's a nice day!

Here is the Father's Day card I made for my FIL.The wordart is a freebie from Paper Makeup Stamps that you can pick up on the PMS blog. Our DT member, Shaela Odd, created it for us. Thanks, Shaela! It really helped me out today! This card went together in about 15 minutes....love that! I swirled some baja breeze and sahara sand inks around the image. The dp is Max & Whiskers from Basic Grey. It reminds me of the flannel shirts my FIL wears to keep him warm! (He doesn't golf....I just like the way it looked in the picture!) I punched the star border along the blue edge and used the corner punch on the two corners. Easy peasy when you don't have to put ribbons, flowers, or crystals on it!

Thanks for stopping in today! Enjoy your day!

Happy Father's Day!

So call me a bad daughter-in-law, but I hate making masculine cards! They are such a challenge for me and I dread when I have to make them! So my solution to that...CASE a card! LOL! I was strolling through the Mojo Monday blog because I hadn't been there (or any other of the blogs I used to visit) in so long and came across this card by Sarah. She did such a lovely job and I've always loved the SU dp Outlaw (I still have two packs of it!) so I decided to case it. I did use a different stamp. She used a new Verve Visual stamp and I used an old SU set called Headline Alphabet. I stamped it in chocolate chip on Mellow Moss. Sarah used pearls in the corner of her main image and I used brads. I also only used one layer for the star. I used the SU punch and she must have used a die because she had a smaller star layered on a larger one. So there are some changes made to my card!

What I really like about this card is the inside. I used another paper from the Outlaw dp and the stamps from PTI's Father Knows Best. I just love the sentiment and the way it looks on the dp. I hope you have a nice Father's Day today. Enjoy your day with your dad, husband, or whomever is important to you. I'll be spending my day with my hubby's family. We always go to breakfast (with his sister and her family and his parents) and then spend the remainder of the day with his parents after his sister leaves to visit her in-laws. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
