Just Us Girls #554 - Color Week

Hi friends!  Still navigating this new blogger!  I have always used Internet Explorer, but I've figured out it works better with Chrome.  So here we go.

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Carol has chosen these lovely colors:  green, pink and blue.

When I think of these colors, I think of flowers.  So I chose to use a floral turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th.  This is a two-step turnabout stamp set.  The first step is to stamp those tiny flowers and dots twice (instead of four times as usual).  I did this in blue and green inks.  Then the flowers and leaves are separate stamps that you stamp in the openings.  I chose to use two different shades of pink for the flowers and two for the leaves.  The sentiment strips coordinate with the set and I die cut them from blue cardstock.  I added them to the panel (which was die cut with a scallop die) and I notice they are not very straight!  Lastly, I added crystals for that sparkle I love.

Just Us Girls #527 - Trend Week

Hey friends!  Just Us Girls has a fabulous challenge this week.  It's Trend Week and Bobby chose to use a BLACK BACKGROUND.

I was excited for this challenge because I knew this Blossoms Fill-In stamp set from Concord & 9th would be the perfect stamp for it!  Can I just say that I am tickled pink (or black?) with this card?  Is that too vain?  Well I am!  It really came out just as I had imagined!  I stamped it with Versafine onyx black ink.  I had to stamp it twice to get a really dark black impression.  Then I used various orange and green inks to stamp in the flowers.  Super easy and fun card to create!  I die cut it with a stitched rectangle and added the sentiment, silver crystals, and star dust stickles to the flower centers.  Now I have to save it for someone really special to send it to!  ;-)

Just Us Girls #510 - Color Week

Hi friends!  This week is Color Week at Just Us Girls and Sue chose a great color combo of purple, navy and green.  I love this combo!

I thought a great way to incorporate all those colors would be to use a turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th.  I chose this fall-ish one so I could use it on a Thanksgiving card.  I used two greens to get the full turnabout effect on a 6x6" piece of cardstock.  I cut that into two 2x5.5" pieces so I could make two cards.  I cut a small strip of purple cardstock to add more color and separate it from the white area of the base.  I stamped the scene image and sentiment in navy and the leaf in green.  I decided not to color the scene.  I liked the line image and simplicity it gave to the card.  I'm making more of these because they were so simple and fast to create.

Just Us Girls #494 - Wild Card Week

Hi all!  It's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Ina chose for us to make a fancy fold card.

I hope this qualifies as a fancy fold.  It folds flat to fit into an envelope.  This was done with the dies and stamps from Concord & 9th called Birthday Stacks.  The balloons, word, and presents are all at different levels and are stacked for more dimension.  I stamped the balloons and presents in Versamark and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.  I added shimmer to the word and also added sequins.

I used this week colors from the Color Throwdown challenge.

Just Us Girls #480 - Photo Week

Happy Saturday friends!  It's time for another challenge at Just Us Girls!  This week is our Photo Week challenge, and Maria chose this fun birthday photo!

It was perfect for what I needed.  My 3 year old grand-niece celebrated a birthday recently, and I needed a card.  I chose this Sprinkles turnabout set from Concord & 9th and stamped the sprinkles in the colors from the photo:  red (which looks orange in the photo), green, blue, and yellow.  I also die cut the sentiment three times from red cardstock.  The cupcakes from the set were stamped, die cut, and placed on dimensionals.  Right after I adhered them, I thought it would have been cool to put them on those wiggly things.  I have them in the small and large sizes, but could only find the large ones and they were too big!  Bummer!  There's shimmer on the sentiment and the cupcakes.

Time Out Challenge #131 - It's Our 5th Birthday!!

Hi friends!  Time Out Challenges is celebrating our 5th birthday!  I cannot believe it's been 5 years of great challenges!   In honor of our birthday, we have this for our Inspired by Words challenge:
"Hugs, kisses, and a lot of birthday wishes".

So I created a fun and colorful birthday card.  I used a birthday turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th in four bright cheery colors.  I die cut the circle in the panel to create a shaker card.  I stamped the sentiment (which I love!) in black Versafine ink and embossed it in clear embossing powder.  I added sequins and stars for the shaker bits.  It's a pretty busy card!  LOL!

Stamplorations is our sponsor this week and to celebrate, they are offering a $50 gift voucher to one winner!  That's a great prize!

Time Out #129 - Theme challenge

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  It's time for another Time Out challenge (but I don't have a Valentine card for you today!).  This is our theme challenge, and we want you to go RETRO!  How fun is that?

So I went with retro colors...remember those from the 70s?  Orange, green, and brown?  I also thought these rays looked retro-ish!  I stamped this turnabout stamp in those colors and used the sentiment in the set in the green and orange colors.  I added the flowers...they looked retro to me as well!

Sending Condolences

Hello everyone!  I had some time in my craft room yesterday and pulled out the new Faceted Turnabout stencil from Concord & 9th.  I pulled the colors from the MFT challenge (I realized later  it was an MFT challenge and I wasn't using MFT products!).  I love the stencil and the soft colors of distress inks I chose.  I decided to make this a sympathy card and increase my stash of these because I hate to make these last minute.  I think I'll do more in different colors.  The sentiment was die cut three times and stacked.  I didn't add any embellishments to keep it simple.

Deepest Sympathy

Hello everyone!  My husband told me he needed a sympathy card so I made this one pretty quickly.  It's a new turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th.  I love these turnabout stamps.  They are so fun to create and you can make so many panels in so many different color combinations.

Since I needed to get this out quickly, I used similar colors that were on the sample on the packaging.  Looking at it now, I wish I would have stamped the sentiment in the platinum embossing powder so it wasn't so stark.  But I was in a hurry.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine onyx black and then used clear embossing powder over it.  I added some crystals and shimmer spritz to finish it off.  Pretty simple card.

Happy Anniversary

Hi friends!  My sister-in-law and her husband celebrated their first anniversary on Sunday and this is the card I gave them.  I was playing with this Wreath Turnabout stamp last week and couldn't stop at making just one.  I figured if I had the stamp set up, I may as well make more.  Well....I made about 10 of these panels!  I just couldn't stop!  I was just playing with all different color combinations using Catherine Pooler inks.  So it was nice to have a panel ready to make a special card.  I wanted the sentiment to stand out, so I stamped it in Versamark onyx black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added some purple crystals and shimmer spritz to finish it off.  You'll probably be seeing more cards in the future with the stamp set I'm sure!

Just Us Girls #471 - Color Week

Hey friends!  It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Angie didn't choose specific colors this time, but rather pastels.  How fun!

I pulled out quite a few pastel inks and even stamped the floral image in a light gray ink in keeping with the pastel color palette.  This set from Concord & 9th is kind of cool because there are layering stamps that give the look of a loose watercolor.  I wasn't sure how I liked this at first, but as the colors dried and faded a bit, I warmed up to it.  The only thing I would have changed would have been the darker color in the center of the large flower.  I still think it's too dark.  The sentiment is also in a dark gray rather than black.  I added some shimmer spritz and crystals.  It's super sparkly in person.  Love that!  This is going to my niece for her birthday.

Time Out Challenge #125 - Inspired by Words

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all recovering from all the festivities over the last few days.  It's time to relax and chill out.  At least that's what is on my agenda!

The Time Out challenge currently in its second week is our Inspired by Words challenge.  The words to be challenged by are celebrate...friends...family...life!

My card is geared towards the words family and life.  We recently lost my father-in-law and my family was in need of some warm and cozy hugs, which we received from many of our friends, family, and many of you!  So I think this card is appropriate.  I made another card a few weeks ago with this same hat and scarf, but there was a girl's face in place of the words.  I had colored two sets of these and didn't want the second set to go to waste, so I created this card.  The background was embossed with a SU embossing folder that went well with the hat and scarf motif.  There's some sparkle on it too!

Just Us Girls #467 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  Vicki chose these fabulous colors for our Just Us Girls Color Week challenge.  I really had fun with them!

I just got these stamps from Concord and 9th the other day and couldn't wait to use them.  I thought these colors would work beautifully with these images.  I stamped and die cut the hat and scarf then colored them in the challenge colors.  The face was stamped directly onto the panel and colored.  I added the hat and scarf.  You can't really see it, but I stamped and embossed some snowflakes with a frosted crystal embossing powder.  It is very subtle but pretty.  This girl reminds me of my niece, and she will get this at Christmas.

Just Us Girls #463 - Color Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess at Just Us Girls this week for our color challenge.  I chose blue, purple, and green for this challenge.

I chose some Concord & 9th stamp sets to use for this card.  I stamped the thank you in the three challenge colors and the second part of the sentiment in black.  The background uses a turnabout stamp and I once again used the three challenge colors and black.  The sentiment was die cut also in black and was matted offset so it would stand out a little bit more.  I spritzed the entire panel with shimmer spritz (a little too much for my liking...it sort of splotched the sentiment).

Just Us Girls #461 - Word Week

Hello there!  It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls, and Nancy chose Sympathy.  While this isn't the type of card stampers like to create, it's one we invariably need and hate to make last minute.  I need to replenish my stash starting with this one.

I was at my local stamp store the other day and saw a card made this way and I just had to recreate it.  This is such a cool stamp set.  The coral background is actually two stamps that fit around the floral bouquet.  I stamped the right side with coral ink first.  Then the floral bouquet in black, and finally the other coral piece.  I die cut that piece with a stitched rectangle die and matted it on black cardstock.  Then I mounted it on fun foam before adhering it to the card base.  I added the sentiment and crystals.

Thank You - Sunday Stamps Challenge #188

Hey friends!  My nieces and nephew took my hubby and I out for dinner last week to celebrate my retirement and to thank my hubby for watching my one niece's dog when she goes away.  We had a lovely evening and I wanted to thank them.  I already had this card made but needed another.  I'm loving the multi-step stamps that many companies are designing.  I like to color, but these are so fast to make!  I stamped this lovely flower in black ink, then stamped the flower part in rose and red inks.  The stem was colored in with a copic marker.  I used a frame die to inlay a piece of pink glitter paper.  The panel with the flower was sprayed with black paint.  I added the sentiment with shimmer on it and crystals.

Just Us Girls #455 - Photo Inspiration

Hi friends!  This week Just Us Girls has a Photo Inspiration challenge.  Vicki chose this back to school photo, and I had to laugh because I just retired from teaching!  I don't have to look at this stuff anymore (although I must admit I will miss it a bit!).

So I went in a different direction.  I chose the colors as my inspiration.  I was organizing my recent purchases and wanted to stamp out this turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th.  I chose two colors in the brown tones, one in a blue, and another in a peachy color.  I kind of saw that color a bit in the photo (plus I liked the way it looked with the other colors!).  I chose these Spellbinders dies because it looked like one of the shapes in the photo as well.  I stamped the sentiment and some leaves and splatter on the white piece and matted it on chocolate brown cardstock.  The white panels were spritzed with shimmer spray and the main panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle.  You can't really tell, but I did add some crystals on the main panel and the chocolate mat.

Just Us Girls #450 - Color Week

Hi all!  It's my turn as hostess for the Just Us Girls Color Week.  I hope you like these!

I'm going to a bridal shower tomorrow so these colors were perfect.  I started by stamping the leaf frame with an aqua ink and then overstamping it with the same color using the second layering stamp.  Then I did the same for the flowers using a pink ink.  I tried to use two different inks for the frame and flowers, but I just couldn't get the right colors together.  So I just used the one color and stamped it several times the for the second layer to get a darker impression.  For the background, I used a turnabout dotted stamp.  I was going to stamp it more times, but I liked it stamped just once.  The frame and flowers were die cut with the coordinating dies.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink, and I finished it off with sequins and shimmer spritz.
