Just Us Girls #500!!! - Trend Week

Hello friends!  Just Us Girls is celebrating its 500th challenge!  We started this challenge blog way back in October of 2009.  Maria and I are the original members, and we've had so many great designers on the team since then as well as so many guest designers!  I love this challenge and the girls I've "met" through it.  I also want to give a shout out to Vicki who coordinates everything for us and Nancy who creates these fabulous graphics for us.

Vicki also coordinated the prizes from three different sponsors.  Check out the JUGs blog for more information.

The trend challenge is CIRCLES.

I found these birds and flowers on my desk.  I colored them a while ago and forgot about them.  To get the circles in the card, I used a new Altenew stencil called Bubble Wrap and tumbled glass distress oxide ink.  I die cut that panel with a stitched rectangle and adhered it to the card base.  Then I just layered the birds (on dimensionals) and flowers on that panel along with two sentiment strips.  I added shimmer to them and then crystals for more shine.  Easy peasy card because of the pre-colored images!

You can see more inspiration from the JUGs design team and our August guest, Tristan, on the JUGs blog.

Time Out #139 Reminder

Hi all!  It's the second week of the current Time Out challenge, and I thought I'd share another card for it.  We are sponsored by Catherine Pooler Designs, and I have a bunch of her products which I love.

I started out with this Amazing Floral stamp set.  It looked like it would be a good set to use with Gina K's wreath builder template, and it was.  I started with the 4"x4" template and piece of white card stock and stamped the various flowers and leaves using Catherine Pooler inks (love them!).  Then I cut that piece in half, rounded the corners, and mounted it on a dark gray cardstock.  I then cut another piece of gray cardstock to fit in the open space and mounted a white piece of cardstock embossed with a swiss dots folder.  The sentiment was die cut from white card stock with one die and gray from another and layered together.  This was mounted on craft foam and then on the main panel.  I added some crystals around the panel and shimmer on the sentiment.

Time Out #139 - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hello and Happy 4th of July to my American friends!  I hope you are celebrating your freedom and all the good things our country has to offer with your family and friends today!

We are also celebrating a new Time Out challenge.  This time it is our Inspired by Words challenge.  Here's the quote:
"With freedom, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?"
- Oscar Wilde

We are sponsored by Catherine Pooler Designs for this challenge, and I chose this Beautiful Ride stamp set and dies for this card.  I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers.  The pup and flowers were die cut and popped up for dimension.  I found this cute bicycle pattern paper and added it and the green pattern paper.  This panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and popped up with craft foam onto the base.  There's some spectrum noir shimmer on the images too.

Time Out #130 - Unique

Hey there! (That's a Catherine Pooler tagline!)  The Time Out challenge this time is sponsored by Catherine Pooler Designs (hence the "hey there!"), and the challenge is to be unique.

I was a little stumped at first, so I did what everyone usually does and went to Pinterest.  I found some interesting prints of black silhouettes against book print.  Score!  I purchased a dictionary at a dollar store years ago and pulled it out.  I tore out a page and adhered it to a piece of cardstock to make it more stable.  Then I die cut it with a stitched rectangle and stamped the images and sentiment in Versafine onyx black ink for that silhouette look.  I masked the flower to stamp the leaves, however I don't think I really needed to because it was all stamped in the black ink.  I added this piece onto a black mat that was also die cut with a larger stitched rectangle.  The base is a cream cardstock because white was too bright.  I added some crystals on the flowers and around the piece.  I think stamping on a dictionary page is pretty unique!

Just Us Girls #465 - Word Week

Hi friends!  The challenge at Just Us Girls is the Word challenge.  Sue chose the word music.

I thought this Christmas stamp and die set would be a good fit for the challenge.  I started by creating the night sky with oxide inks on Bristol cardstock.  I spritzed it with water and then spattered it with white Copic ink.  I die cut the snow drifts from white glitter cardstock and the silhouettes from black cardstock.  I added the sentiment and moon, stars, and music notes in black ink.

Hello Autumn - CAS(E) this Sketch #291

Hello Autumn!  It's getting a bit cooler here, and my summer flowers are starting to fade.  I have to swap them out for some fall mums.  I love autumn.  It's my favorite time of the year!

I also love leaf stamps. I have several, and this one is a new layering one.  There are four different layers for each of the leaves, and three for the acorns.  It's a Catherine Pooler stamp set and I used inks from her line as well.  The main panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle, then I used a frame die that cuts this skinny little frame from the main panel.  I used the same die on some rust color glitter paper and inlaid it into the main panel.  There's some shimmer on the top leaf also.

I used the current layout from CAS(E) this Sketch.  I just noticed my sentiment is misplaced.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #407 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  Look at the bright primary colors Sue chose for the Color Week challenge over at Just Us Girls!

Here's what I did with them.  I was fortunate enough to get a Stamp of Approval box from Catherine Pooler Designs.  It came in the mail today, so I thought I'd use a lot of the products from it for today's challenge.  I took a leaf stamp and stamped in into a flower using the challenge colors on a tag die cut.  I love this sentiment and stamped it in black on top of the flower.  I was just going to make the tag, but decided to put it on a card so I used a stencil and the inked up the three colors on the side.  The tag was cut again in blue cardstock and layered behind the stamped tag.  I added ribbon, twine, sequins, and spritzed it with shimmer spray to finish it off.
