Just Us Girls #613 - Word Week

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a very happy and healthy holiday.  Ours was very nice, but quiet, and while 2021 wasn't the best year, it still was a good year for us.  We welcomed a new great-nephew in August which was the highlight for us!

I'm happy to be getting inky again after making a bunch of Christmas cards and taking the week off after Christmas from crafting.  I've been playing my keyboard a lot, getting reacquainted with it after a very long time.  This week over at Just Us Girls is our Word Week.  Nancy chose BEVERAGE.

So since today is New Year's Day, I had to make a Happy New Year's card.  I started by making the foldable shaker tag from black cardstock with a circle cut out of one side.  I added a piece of acetate and stars to create the shaker.  The front of the tag was stamped with fireworks stamps in Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  I added gold ribbon and twine, the sentiment die cut from gold cardstock, and a glass of what I'm hoping you see as champagne in keeping with the word challenge!

I was going to stop there.  In fact, I took the picture thinking I was done.  Then yesterday, I thought it needed to be on a card.  So I hot foiled a background with gold foil and mounted that on a black piece of cardstock.  I added the tag to it and some gold sequins.

There's lots of announcements over on the JUGs blog.  We've added two new designers:  Lisa Elton and Carol McFarland.  Welcome to JUGs!  We are so happy to have them joining our team.

We also have two guest designers this month (because we took December off).  We welcome Stef Perry and Chrissie Stokes as guests for the month of January!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #375 - Word Week

Hi all!  The Just Us Girls challenge is back into high gear after our short holiday hiatus.  This week is our word week and Ina appropriately chose the word NEW

I made this card the day before New Year's Eve.  I was thinking about the celebration in Times Square in NYC, so I pulled out this NYC skyline die that I just had to have.  I die cut it from black cardstock then went to work creating the night sky.  I googled night skies to use as a guide.  I started with a light blue ink, then picked up a darker blue.  I then used a purple and some black ink to darken the sky.  I left a lighter spot where the Statue of Liberty would be.  Then I stamped and embossed the fireworks and the sentiment.  I spritzed it with shimmer spritz.  You can sort of see it on the black cardstock.  I'm crushing on this card!

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our January guest on the JUGs blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year - My Time Made Easy Style!

Happy New Year...two months in advance!  But we have to plan ahead, right?  This new template from My Time Made Easy called Tri-it reminded me of a party hat for New Year's Eve that you could use as party favors.  Or it could be a really cute and festive centerpiece for your New Year's table.

I cut the base of the template from Brushed Gold cardstock.  The star paper is from Star Student digital paper pack.  This particular print is a transparent image that you can print on any color paper.  I chose to just print it on white paper.  There is shimmery gold ribbon at the base of the template.  The stars coming out of the top of the hat are actually from one of those balloon weights that I purchased at the dollar store.  I just cut them off and taped them inside.

You can see more inspiration for this template and others in the My Time Made Easy Gallery.  We also have these talented girls posting something amazing for your to see.

Oh, and the holiday cheer in the champagne flute?  Sipped up as soon as the picture was taken! ;-)  Thanks for stopping in today!
