Time Out Challenge #59 Reminder - Theme Challenge

We are in the second week of our current challenge over at Time Out.  The theme is masculine with an optional twist of mixed media.

I did the masculine theme only for this card.  I'm using our sponsor's stamps for this challenge, Stamplorations' World Birthday Cakes.  Each of the images of famous landmarks has a candle on top of it!  So cute!  I love red and brown and thought it would work well for a masculine card.  What do you think?

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

You can see more from the Time Out design team and our guest on the Time Out blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #53 - Inspired by Words

Hi friends!  The challenge this time around on the Time Out blog is the Inspired by Words challenge.  We give you a quote to be inspired by, and the quote is a goodie!
"A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water"
by Eleanor Roosevelt

I knew I had a stamp with this quote, and it took me a minute to find it in my collection of stamps but I found it!  It's from an old My Time Made Easy set that you can't get in a stamp anymore (I don't think!), however you may be able to get it in digital form here.  I die cut the stack of tea cups and colored them with copics to match the paper.  I also covered all of them with Wink of Stella.  I added some sequins and ribbon, which I haven't used in forever!

I'm playing along with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week.  I haven't played in that challenge in quite a while!
Just a reminder that our Time Out challenges usually run for two weeks, however, we made a boo-boo and scheduled this for only one week!  So hurry and get your entry in!

Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday #332

Hi everyone!  I had some stamping time last night and made a few cards.  I saw the Mojo Monday sketch and knew just what I wanted to do!  This came out just as I imagined it.  That doesn't happen very often!  I also saw a new to me challenge the other day called the Bloggers Challenge which is run by Lisa Sommerville.  The challenge is to use black and white with a splash of color, so this card was created for that challenge as well.

I used some new products on this card.   The "love" die is new as is the heart die.  It was on sale at JoAnn's so it slipped into my hands!  I added some Wink of Stella shimmer to both of them.  The pearl flourish was staring at me from my craft table, so I put it behind the heart.  I used some Tim Holtz tissue tape around the heart and the black base.  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Here's the Mojo Monday sketch I used.

I'm also entering this into the Time Out Challenge:  Love and/or Friendship is the theme.  They are having a DT call and while I didn't intend to make this card for that challenge (since I already entered once), it fit the challenge so I entered again!  Can't hurt, right?  LOL!
 Grab Our Badge!

I can't remember when I've created a card based on three challenges!  I usually only like to combine two at a time!

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Monday and Mojo Monday

Happy Snow Day (again!)!  I didn't really want this snow day.  We are over our days and now they are taking from other vacation days.  This one will probably take away our Friday before Memorial Day, which is the day I go shopping at the local nurseries for my flowers.  But it was only 1 degree this morning and the wind chill was -25 degrees, so it was necessary.  So since I was home, I went to my craft room.  I made two cards, but I'll share one today and one tomorrow.
This one I love!  I love the Merry Monday Challenges and really want to play along more often to get some cards done.  This week their challenge is to use ornaments.  I've have these tag dies from MFT for a while and I purchased them because they look like ornaments to me.  I die cut them out of decorative paper and then just the tops from foil tape paper for the top of the ornament.  Love it!

I'm also playing along with the Mojo Monday challenge.  They've changed up their round or square challenge (I don't like making round cards!) to tall and skinny!  This I like!  My card is 3.5" x 5.5" so it still fits into an A-2 envelope (but who cares if you have an envelope maker, right?), but it's so cute being so skinny!

Thanks for stopping in today!  Hopefully I'll be at work tomorrow!

Happy 5th Birthday Color Throwdown!

The Color Throwdown challenge blog is celebrating their 5th birthday!  I think they are they are the longest running challenge blog around!  I have the honor of being part of their celebration because I was a guest during October 2009.  All past alumni and guests are celebrating this momentous occasion.  You can see all the participants on the Color Throwdown blog.  While you are there, you can also see a list of prizes you can win if you play along this week!  I'm told the list is very long!

These are the fabulous colors chosen for this week.  Love them!  And when I saw the inspiration photo that the colors came from, I knew exactly the direction I was going with my card!

It just so happens that I recently purchased PTI's Flipping Out stamp set and dies.  Bingo!  I die cut the flip flops and stamped them in melon.  I cut the thong part in Bermuda and added a flower stamped in saffron.  I added pink bling for the flower centers.  I placed them on dimensionals on crumb cake (to mimic sand), and added a button threaded with baker's twine.  The dp is DeLovely from Cosmo Cricket.  The horizontal pieces were cut into banners on one side.  The sentiment is from the same set and was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  Lastly, I added some more pink bling.  When I staged the picture, I was thinking that I wished I had sea shells but didn't have any.  So I used some embossing powder to mimic sand instead!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I haven't played in their challenge in a while!

So make sure you stop by the Color Throwdown blog and say happy birthday and then play along!  You can't win if you don't play!

Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

I'm playing in a Mojo Monday sketch challenge!  I haven't done that in a looooong time!  I used to play all the time.  What the heck happened?  LIFE!  Hahaha!

So here's the sketch.  Perfect for the card I needed.  My niece Andrea is a nursing student and she and the other students in her class bought a gift for their teacher/mentor and she asked me to make a card.  I love those requests!  Finally a card that's going to actually get used!

I wanted something with pretty feminine colors, so I chose these papers from October Afternoon called Sidewalks.  They are just so lovely!  I paired it up with SU's Melon Mambo cardstock and Vintage Cream cardstock for the base.  The sentiment is PTI's Thanks All Ways stamp set.  The flower was created using PTI's Beautiful Blooms II and Sending You for the leaves.  I added a yellow flower button and some So Saffron tafetta ribbon.

I asked Andrea what she wanted the inside to say.  This set has a ton of different people to thank, and this is what she chose.

She's on her way over to pick up the card right now.  I hope she likes it!  Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #158 - Technique Challenge

Happy Saturday everyone!  Are you ready for a technique challenge from Just Us Girls?  Vicki chose the old but ever so popular Emboss Resist technique.  You can find directions for it on SCS here if you've never tried this technique.

I thought I'd make a Halloween card today.  My inspiration was this paper tape from Martha Stewart.  The dp is from Authentique called Glowing.  The pumpkin is from Spooky Solids stamp set by Paper Makeup Stamps, and I embossed it with black embossing powder.  Then I used Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade distress inks over it.  That spider is actually a button.  I laid it onto an orange flower and added the bling for the eyes.  The sentiment is from A Spooky Surprise set by My Time Made Easy.

The sketch is from this week's Mojo Monday.  Love all those banners!

Check out the design team's cards using this technique.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

My Time Made Easy September Preview - There's No Place Like Gnome

Hi friends!  Can you believe we are in previews of the My Time Made Easy September release?  The summer sure did fly by!  I've been in my classroom all week getting it ready for the kiddos next Wednesday.

So with October and Halloween right on the heels of September, I've gone with that route today.  This new template is called Mush-Room House.  Yes, it's supposed to be a mushroom and a very cute one too, but as always with the MTME templates, they are very versatile and can be used quite differently.  We also have some gnome images being released this month to go along with this template, hence the title of my post!

To me, this template looked like a Tiffany lamp.  I found this old SU Halloween paper that looked like stained glass.

To make it look more Halloween-ish, I added these bats from Silhouette America and added orange crystals for the eyes.  I added a glass gem to the top.  I think this is so cute!

Here's how you can package some goodies in this template.  I took off the top and added peanut M&Ms in the base.  I didn't take a picture of it, but you can also add some goodies in the top.  There are flaps that open and close, but I chose to tape them closed.

The card uses more new products for this month.  The text paper is from the Hauntingly Homemade digital paper pack.  The banners, label, and sentiment are from the Hauntingly Homemade digital stamp set.  I love that sentiment.  So popular now too!  The spider in the middle of the flower is a button I picked up last year at JoAnn's.

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Stop by these blogs to see what previews the MTME design team has for you today.

You be able to see, purchase, and begin creating tomorrow, September 1!  You will find all the new products here.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back with the new release tomorrow, so stop by again!

Stamp-a-Faire Ribbon Technique and Mojo Monday #250

Hi again!  I had to make a special card for my best friend Maria.  Tuesday is her 50th birthday, and today her family is having a small get-together for her.  I came up with this card.  I'm entering it into PTI's Stamp-a-faire ribbon technique challenge.  One of the challenges is tying a ribbon, which I can do with my eyes closed!  I wanted to try one of the other techniques on this card, but when I saw the Mojo Monday sketch, none of them but this one would work.  I'll do another with the other techniques because they were interesting.

This one started with the paper from Authentique called Carefree.  I LOVE the colors in this pack!  For the focal point, I used Big Birthday Wishes for the sentiment and Get to the Point for the numbers.   They were stamped in Black Versafine ink.  The flower was created using the Beautiful Blooms II #1 dies.  The button is kind of a cool one...a half circle.  I threaded it with some floss.  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Here's the Mojo Monday sketch I followed.  I left off one of the smaller flags.  It just didn't fit in there!

So, I'm off to my friend's party.  I bought her a Vera Bradley weekender bag in the new Indigo Pop color.  Here's a picture of it.
So pretty!  And I got her a new charm for her Pandora bracelet.  It's from their new line of zodiacs based on the Chinese year.  She was born in 1962 which was the year of the tiger.  It's a real cute charm.  Thanks for stopping in again today!  Have a great weekend!

Just Us Girls #123 - Technique Challenge

Hi all!  We have a great challenge from Just Us Girls.  Our super clever Elise chose to have us use buttons as our focal point on an image.
Here's what I came up with.  This set is from Papertrey Ink called Everyday Button Bits.  Never used...again!  I paired it with this paper from My Mind's Eye called True Blue.
The sketch is this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I haven't played in one of their challenges for a while, so I was happy to play this week.
Stop by the JUGs blog to see what the JUGs girls and our Guest Designer, Cheri Weston, has done with this challenge.

Happy Friday!  It's time for a new Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenge.  This week, we are challenging you to use kraft paper somehow on your Christmas card/project.  We are sponsored once again this week by Pink Cat Studio.  I used the Lilly and Billy Winter Stamps set for my card.
I used kraft paper as my base and layered the green dp from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses.  This adorable image was colored with copic markers and I added tons of stickles!  Love the shimmer!  I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Stop by the CSAYL blog to see more inspiration from the DT.  If you play along, you'll have the opportunity to win 5 free digis from Pink Cat Studio!

We also have two guests joining us today...Fabiola and Joyce

Paper Makeup Stamps - May Review Day

Have you seen the new release from Paper Makeup Stamps? You can find all of them here. Today and tomorrow the PMS design team is reviewing the new release. You can see them on the PMS blog.

The one I have to share with you today is one of my favs of the release. There were two of the fairies that were released in silhouette form. This is Kirsten Silhouette. This card came together in a flash! I stamped Kirsten on vintage cream cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink. That ink is perfect for silhouettes...gives great coverage. I swirled some artichoke ink on the bottom of the image, then red, orange, and a yellow-orange ink on the background for a sunset look. The dp is Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934. I ruffled the black satin ribbon (which is crooked!) and added a Prima rose in a sage color. The sentiment is from the new Celebration Sentiments set.

The layout is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Please stop by the PMS blog to see more of the reviews by the PMS team. Thanks for stopping in today!

Paper: Vintage cream, black, Circa 1934 (Cosmo Cricket)
