Just Us Girls - Color Challenge

Happy Spring everyone! Today at around 1:30 it will finally be Spring! I'm hostessing the Just Us Girls challenge this week, and I thought Spring colors were in order for this week.I surfed around the Pottery Barn Kids website to find something in the colors I wanted, and found this picture. It was perfect for what I was looking for! I loved all the pale colors! Here's what I came up with.I have a bunch of Magnolia stamps and just do not use them enough. I purchased a few Magnolia Easter stamps last year, but never used this one. I just love that little bunny she's holding! She's colored with about 20 different copic markers (so I did not write them down!). I used Basic Grey's Urban Prairie dp. The floral dp is more green than it looks in the picture. The sketch was based on Mercy Kerin's sketch from a couple of weeks ago. I feel my sewing straight stitches needs work! They are a little crooked! The roses are Primas I picked up at my LSS a few weeks ago, and the nesties are new as well. I think this is a very interesting shape.

The Just Us Girls team, as well as Stephanie Kraft, March Featured Designer, have done a beautiful job with these colors. You can see their work on the JUGs blog, but here are links to their blogs.

Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great weekend!

My Time to Create Color Challenge

Today is the My Time to Create Color Challenge. If you read my post yesterday, you would have seen the sneak peek collage of what the DT has done. Here is a sample of the colors Lauren Meader gave us to work with this week.
Great colors, huh? I think that just might be a Vera Bradley purse, if I'm not mistaken. So here is what I made with these fabulous colors.

When I saw these colors I had to laugh because I just did this card the other day for the PMS blog hop! So I used the same dp again! It's from a company called Pebbles Inc. and this is their Linnie Bell collection. I have another dp that coordinates with it and I just LOVE the colors...so me! I was surfing the blogs yesterday, and came across The Sweet Stop challenge blog hosted by Sweet and Sassy Stamps. They are a sketch challenge blog (I was in heaven)! I love sketches. This is their current sketch, and it worked perfectly for my image. I was out with my good stamping friend, Cheryl Rowley, on Wednesday shopping at our LSS and Michael's. We spent almost 4 hours in our LSS! Time flew! Anyway, she is a big Magnolia stamper (and on the Magnolialicious DT), so I decided to use this one she sent to me. She even colored the face in because I think this was the first one she sent me and wanted to show me how to color the face. I finished her off with the colors of the challenge in copic markers (listed below). The rest of the card is pretty straight forward.

Here is a list of the DT participating in this challenge this week, so please stop by their blogs and leave some oohs and aahs for them!

If you decide to play, post a direct link to your creation on Lauren's blog and if you post to SCS/PCP, please use the code MTCC04 so we can find you. Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great weekend!

Happy Easter!

Hi everyone! Happy Easter! I'm posting a day early because I know everyone will be busy tomorrow, and I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I haven't done a Tilda card in a long time, and I thought this church window with Tilda would make a nice Easter card.

I started by coloring the window with W-1 & 3 copic markers, then chose my dp. I wanted something in the grays to match the window and came up with this retired SU called Uptown. I also used Almost Amethyst and So Saffron. I colored Tilda accordingly once I had my colors chosen. After I colored everything and started layering it together, I decided to add crystal effects to the window for a more realistic look. I took this picture from a different angle so you could see it better. The picture is blurry...I think I moved when I snapped it!
You can also see the stickles I added to Tilda!

Then I had to decide on a layout. Well Taylor's sketch today was perfect for my card. I scalloped the edges of the amethyst piece and added another piece of Uptown dp on top of that, then finished it off with a So Saffron grosgrain ribbon and bow on top. I thought a butterfly perched on the top of the window would look spring-ish, so I used the MS butterfly punch with the amethyst paper and added the three yellow dots of bling. The window is on dimensionals and Tilda is on dimensionals also. Lots of dimension in this card. The sentiment is from PTI's Mailbox Greetings and was cut and embossed with a scalloped oval nestie. That's it!

Well, I hope you have a very nice day with your family and friends tomorrow! Happy Easter! Oh, one more thing...I forgot to mention that today is my 17th wedding anniversary! How did so many years go by? Here's a picture of that wonderful day...April 11, 1992! I love this picture of Kevin and I! We look so young! Oh my! Thanks for stopping by!

SFYTT Challenge

Well, I'm back with another sketch challenge! This time it's one of Jen del Muro's Sketch for You to Try (SFYTT). I just received this new SU paper called Parisian Breeze. The patterns are printed on textured cardstock, so it's much like regular cardstock. They have four different sets of this type of designer paper, and this one is fabulous! I just love the colors in it. I started with a PTI white base and used three different patterns in this pack. I paired it with sahara sand. The Tilda image is an RAK from my stamping buddy, Cheryl Rowley (thanks Cheryl!). She's a pro at coloring these Tildas, and mine isn't anywhere near her creations! I used copic markers to color her. Chosing the dp and coloring the image were a snap. What took forever was trying to decide what to use for embellishments! None of the flowers I had matched the colors I was using, some embellishments were too big, etc. So I decided to take these flowers, which were originally white, and color them with the darker copic marker. I've colored brads before to match, but never flowers. They came out darker than I thought they would, but they looked nice anyway! I placed a pearl in the center of each one. What do you think...are they too dark? Have a great day and thanks for stopping in!
Recipe

Paper: PTI white, SU Parisian summer and sahara sand
Ink: Adirondack black, copic markers
Accessories: Prima flowers, pearls, curved rectangle nesties, circle punches, Martha Stewart border punch, dimensionals, white gel pen

My First Tilda and a Great Featured Stamper!

I was so excited today when I saw the featured stamper...Jesse, aka knightrone! She has a fabulous gallery and I read her blog religiously! I love her style and she always has great layouts and always uses great embellishments! I chose this card to case today because I loved the layout, of course! I was equally excited today to make my first Tilda card. These are made by a company called Magnolia. I got three of these from Cheryl Rowley because she duplicated her purchases and sold them to me. (From the look of her gallery, I think she has ALL of them...LOL!) She also gave me some hints about coloring their faces...E00 for the base, E02 for the shading, and R20 for the cheeks (these are copic marker numbers...thanks so much, Cheryl, for the tip). I chose this Tilda stamp because I'm going to visit my Aunt Vi in the nursing home today and I thought I'd take some flowers to her, so this image was perfect! I started with the dp, which is SU's new Parisian Summer! I love that the new catalog gives you the colors it coordinates with, which was bravo burgundy, so saffron, pink pirouette, and sahara sand. I omitted the sahara sand, but used the other colors. I put glitter on her wings, bow, shirt, socks and shoes and the flower centers as well. I kept pretty much to Jesse's layout, except I put the prima flowers in the corner instead of the hodgepodge hardware and ribbon she used. The sentiment on the inside was perfect for Aunt Vi because she has touched so many with her kindness throughout the years. Congratulations to Jesse and I hope you stop by her gallery or blog to get some inspiration of your own! Thanks for stopping by!
