A&P Show

Hello friends,
Happy Monday, the start of the week has rolled around pretty quickly once again.

We had a lovely time over the weekend visiting the local A & P Show. Wow, it was hot day though, close to 30 c at least. We arrived home later in the day to find DH had started cleaning out the swimming pool :)

See you soon xx

Rosey Progress and Turning 11

Hello there,
we're enjoying our first fine weekend in quite some time - the weather is wonderful, warm and sunny. Got to make the most of these nice days as they've been few and far between so far this year!

At the moment I've got a little bit of gift stitching and crafting going on but I'm also making good progress on Rosey by Little House Needleworks. I've loved stitching this design so far.

Looked who recently turned 11 years old, my gorgeous niece Zoe, so we celebrated with a family dinner and some yummy chocolate muffins with strawberry buttercream icing, and lots of family photos too, lol.

Hannah just adores her big cousin, and we do too.

Have a happy day, thanks for stopping by!!

Pumpkin Soup Anyone?

This weekend one of the local garden centres had the weighing in for their annual pumpkin growing competition. I went along with the girls and my parents to check out how the two pumpkins we'd grown in the vegetable garden at work compared to others. One of ours came in at a whopping 69 kilos! Thats alot of pumkin soup isn't it Zoe!
Unfortunately ours was pipped at the post by another "whopper" weighing in at 73.5 kgs. Our 2nd pumkpin came in at a mere 29kgs, but it was definately the cutest of the lot, lol.

Ten Today :)

Today my beautiful niece Zoe turns 10, I can't quite believe it - it just seems like yesterday she was born. I was so excited to become an aunty for the first time.

I decided to have a go at making a crochet headband for Zoe - and surprised myself how quick and easy it was, considering it was the first time EVER I'd followed a crochet pattern.

Grannystripe Headband/Earwarmer
DK wool, 4mm hook

Zoe thought it was pretty cool - as you can tell from the next photo she has a "thing" for headwear, lol.

We had a family dinner last night so Hannah and I made Zoe a birthday cake, a simple chocolate cake with raspberry icing.

Happy birthday Sweet Pea!

Christmas Stitchalong & new "lovelies" in the mail.

Its been one of those weeks this week's, you know when you feel like you're chasing your tail all day long, lol. But its almost the start of a long weekend here, public holidays both Friday and Monday, so I'm hoping to get a bit of unwind time over the next few days, and definately lots of stitching and/or crafting time too.

So here's where I'm at now with Christmas Rules, my current stitchalong with Kath.

There's a couple of buttons to go on which I'll add when the whole piece is completed.

Just love the Christmasy colours on this one :)

I was very taken with one of the new Just Nan's, and as the US to Kiwi dollar is quite good at present, I decided to splash out and place an order with Amy at Down Sunshine Lane for Holly Bows. It arrived in the post a few days ago and I can't wait to get a start on this, who knows, I might just over the coming weekend :)

Please excuse the wrinkles in the next pic, but here's a small progress pic of Baby Row, which I started on late last week. The colours in this one are very subtle.

Lastly for today, my current favourite pic of my two favourite girls taken recently at the local park.

Thanks for stopping by today :)

From the Weekend

A few pics from our weekend:

We went to a spring festival on Saturday, or Duck day as locals call it, at our neighbouring town, Waipawa, ten minutes drive north of us. This is "Pawa" the duck, which Hannah was absolutely fascinated with and spent the rest of the weekend talking about, lol.

Hannah, with her very own 'pawa" duck, thanks Nannie :)

Zoe, who can never resist candyfloss

Some very delicious, and very moorish lemon slice, recipe from Allyson Gofton's Bake cookbook

Blueberry and orange muffins, recipe from Kiwi Favourites by Alison & Simon Holst

I did stitch too, and even managed to finish my latest project, LHN's Simple Joys (pics to come later this week). I also spent a bit more time cutting out batting fabric for the hexagon quilt, only another 40 odd hexagons or so, lol.
I hope your weekend was a good one too!
