January Round Up

Bye bye January and hello February!  Where did that month go?

Here's a couple of pics from the last few weeks, some of these you may have already seen on Instagram.

The garden has been pretty prolific this summer - we could have feed the whole neighbourhood on our lettuces and silver beet!  Hot and dry weather has meant lots of watering so I'm very thankful we have an easy watering system that goes on with the flick of the tap.

Last week Zoe started high school!!  Now that really makes me feel old.  So it was down to uniform shop to try on the skirt then have it hemmed, can't have it that long and also get her jersey embroidered. So the verdict on starting high school, she loves it so far!

My very first Book Depository order arrived recently, on the same day I started back at work so I was happy to find it waiting for me after work. I'd seen several good reviews about these books last year.

This summer has been hot, hot, hot!  We couldn't have asked for better weather during our holidays. We also had a day out in Napier recently, just look at that ocean and blue sky!

This basket is where I store all my over dyed threads and every January I like to sort it out - put threads back on the rings, etc

Hot weather means lots of cool drinks and Hubby came home with this one day so we've been trying out lots of fruit punches. This one has ginger beer, lemonade, tropical juice, slices of oranges and lemons and plenty of ice, delicious.

So now February has started and tomorrow is Hannah's first day of school for 2015. This year she is Year 3 and this stage, we've no idea about which class she'll be in. Her school has had a reshuffle of the junior classes due to teachers changing schools and going on maternity leave. She's one excited bunny though, can't wait to see some of her friends.

Waitangi Day is also at the end of the week, meaning a public holiday for us, so a long weekend, yay. We've got no plans to go anywhere, just lots to do at home.

As I've been sitting here preparing this post it has started raining!! What a lovely sound on the roof, we sure do need it.

Off now to do some lunchbox baking xx

Simple & Sweet

Hello friends
how did it get to be Thursday afternoon so quickly this week?  I've had some busy days at work lately, mostly working on the many funding proposals that are due out at this time of the year. March starts tomorrow, oh my goodness, soon Easter will be here!

anyways, here's another product of my recent sewing session, Simple Joys by Shepherds Bush, made into a pin pillow.

A new book arrived the other day to add to my collection - such pretty ideas for some gifts in here.

See you soon x

Holiday Break Nearly Over

Well, my summer holidays have nearly come to an end, its back to work on Monday for me. I can't believe how quickly this time off has whizzed on by, but it always does.  Hannah and I have just returned home from a little time away staying with our relatives in Palmerston North. Its a little trip we take every year at this time.  We spent our time catching up, visiting local parks and pools, and of course, shopping!  Lots and lots of sales on at the moment.  But of course it was nice to get home, and back to DH, after being away for five days.

During one of our visits to the park, I found Hannah hiding out in the flower garden, such vibrant colours :)

Glenn has been busy during his break and has been working on a new project, he's building us a green house on our back deck so we'll be able to grow our own vegetable and plant seedlings.  I can't wait until its done to get some seedlings underway.

I mentionned in a previous post that I'd treated myself before Christmas to a few new goodies.  I bought these JBW Design patterns to stitch this year:

Two new books, both of these I've read during my holidays - the Language of Flowers would be my favourite book that I read during 2012! Excellent!  I've done alot of reading over the past few weeks - I'm onto my 5th book for the break.

I also picked up this crochet book, which I'm sure will come in handy this year as I'd like to extend my crocheting skills, lol.
I couldn't resist picking up this cute Cath Kidson tin, which came complete with some wool and a hook to make up a small granny square cushion.

I was very excited to find a NZ stockist for the Mollie Makes magazine recently - two issues arrived while I was away so I've been enjoying reading these over breakfast the past two mornings. Such fun projects to do!

That's the end of my catch up for this time. I'm off now to make a birthday cake for my Dad, who is 60 today. We're having a family bbq to celebrate tonight - can't wait!

Until next time, thanks for stopping by, see you soon x

More Crafting Inspiration

Two more crafty books that I recently ordered turned up this week and they both contain some very cute "friends" to make.

Hannah has already picked out which ones she likes -pretty much all of them in both books!

Speaking of Miss H, at present she is loving playing with all the outfits in her dress ups draw. Along with some new pink sunglasses, she is pretty much spending most of her time around home in this pink fairy skirt .....

which she accessorises with some fancy plastic shoes - too funny!
