Cream & Gold

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted - I can't believe it's the last week of the summer holidays already! It seems like ages since I've been at school, but at the same time, the last six weeks have gone really fast.
My mum and dad will both be at work on Friday, so I'm taking my little brother to my school, which he will also be starting next week, as the new starters are invited to come and look around to make themselves more familiar with the school before they start.

I'm also really pleased about my GCSE results, which I collected on results day last week. I'm just about to go into year eleven, so they're not my full results, but just for a few modules I did this year towards my final grades. I got an A in biology, an A in history, a B in maths and in geography I got an A and an A*, so I'm really thrilled!

Anyway, this is a card I made for my mum and dad's anniversary last week, as they have been married for seventeen years now, which is why I added the number seventeen to the card.

I went for a clean and simple feel for a change, which is really different to the kind of cards I normally make. I had a go at making one of my mum's torn roses, from the tutorial on her blog. It's not a patch on hers, but I'll definitely try them again - it's nice to make my own flowers for a change!

Materials:
Image: Sugar Nellie
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Pearlised Card: Crafters Companion
Numbers: Printed Off My Computer
Glitter: Stickles
Butterfly Punch: Unsure
Gems: The Hobby House
Swirl Stamp: Lizzie Ann Designs
Border Punch: Martha Stewart
Colouring: Polychromatic Pencils
Flower Centre: Prima

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last card, I really appreciate it!

I'm entering this card into these challenges:
- Less Is More - Take 3 Challenges - (Week 3 - Spring, Week 5 - Pastel Colours & Week 16 - Butterflies)
- Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
- Oldie But A Goodie - Lots Of Sparkle
- Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes & Blog Hop

Hopefully I'll be back before I go back to school with another card. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends again and starting a new term, but on the other hand, I don't want the summer holidays to end!

Anyway, thank you for looking and enjoy the rest of your week!
Love, Georgia xx

Rainy Days

Hi everyone! I can't believe how rainy it's been today! I think this is the rainiest I've seen it in a long time, but I guess all the people suffering from water shortages because of drought in parts of Britain will be very happy for some rain at last! I thought I'd take a photo of my card against the rainy background above! In some ways though, it's nice, because it's all cosy and warm and we had the heating on for a little while earlier.
When I went for a walk last night, I was shocked at how cold it was as well! You know you're in Britain when you can see your breath in June!

Anyway, weather rant over, hee hee. I made this card today, which I am really happy with. I am really enjoying experimenting with tearing the edge of the image and distressing it, and I think I'll definitely use Bildmalarna images again, they're so cute!

Materials:

Image: Bildmalarna

Sentiment: The Greetings Farm

Papers: Basic Grey - Nook & Pantry

Cardstock: Bazzil

Colouring: Polychromatic Pencils

Distress Ink: Tim Holtz - Brushed Corduroy

Ribbon & Pearl String: From My Mum

Butterfly Punch: Martha Stewart

Swirl Stamps: Lizzie Ann Designs

Glitter: Stickles

Flowers: From My Stash

Pearls: Kars

I am also entering my card into these challenges:

- A Spoon Full of Sugar - Here Comes Summer

- Crafty Calendar Challenge - Things With Wings

- Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes

- Stamp Something - Something Punched

- Truly Scrumptious - Summer Sparkle

I went to see Take That in Manchester last weekend, and it was amazing! I had such a fantastic time, they were brilliant! I'm sorry I didn't post any pictures sooner, but I will post some soon!

I'm really looking forward to this coming week. Tomorrow morning I have a geography exam, so obviously I'll be glad when that's over, but after that I have work experience all week! I am going to my old primary school for the week, as I'd like to be a teacher when I'm older, so I can't wait!

Anyway, I'd better go now - thanks so much for looking and have a great time if anyone else is going to see Take That!

Have a nice week! Love, Georgia xx

A Card At Last!

Hi there! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted! Blogger has been really playing up, so I haven't been able to post for ages without all the text in my post grouping together, which was really annoying, but it seems like it's back to normal now, so I hope it won't play up any more.

I made this card for my dad's birthday, which was a couple of weeks ago. I had another go at paper piecing, which I've only tried once before, but really enjoyed. I also used my cute Max & Whiskers pad by Basic Grey, which I won in Liz's blog candy, which is really good for male cards. I'm always a bit wary about male cards, because I think it's hard to know what to put on them because you don't have the choice of flowers and pearls and things like that.

Materials:
Image: High Hopes

Sentiment: Unsure, Magnolia (I Think!)

Lettering: Borrowed From My Mum

Papers: Basic Grey - Max & Whiskers

Border Punch: Martha Stewart

Ribbon: From My Stash

Cardstock: Bazzil

Colouring: Polychromatic Pencils

Gems: From My Stash

Buttons: From My Stash

Distress Ink: Tim Holtz - Brushed Corduroy

I am addicted to these little Scrabble-style letter stamps of my mum's, they're great for spelling out short sentiments or personalising a card with a name!

For my dad's birthday, me and my brother joined together to buy him a ticket to see Footloose at the theatre, and my mum also bought a ticket, so that she could go with him, as they both love their eighties music! My dad was really pleased with the ticket and they had a brilliant time!

I am also entering this card into these challenges:

- Cupcake Craft Challenges - Something Beginning With C (Criss-Cross)

- High Hopes Challenge - Anything Goes

- Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes

- Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Paper Piecing

- Bunny-Zoe's Monthly Challenge - One For The Boys

I am so glad I've been able to post this card at last! It was so frustrating not being able to post without my layout being messed up!

Did people enjoy the Royal Wedding? I thought it was really nice and everyone looked lovely!

Anyway, I'd better go now. It was a real shock to the system to go back to school after a lovely long two weeks off and a nice relaxing Easter, but I'm really looking forward to my work experience week, which is coming up soon! I am going to my old primary school, so it should be really good!

Thanks so much for looking and enjoy the rest of your week!

Love, Georgia xx

Sepia & Experimenting With Colouring

Hi there! Sorry it's been so long since my last post!
It looks like it's starting to rain a bit now outside here, but at least it's a bit milder today! I can't believe we've only been living in our new house for just over a month, and it feels like we've been here for months and months!

For my card, I was about to colour my image when I saw my mum's Polychromatic pencils and I thought she wouldn't mind if I had a little go, as I usually use Pro Markers.
I am so pleased with how this image turned out on my first attempt and pleased that I've found a style of colouring that really suits me! I really enjoyed the colouring and found it quite easy to get the hang of, probably because I'm used to shading and rendering because of art at school!

Mum better watch her pencils now, hee hee! Also, it means I can try colouring much more delicate and intricate images, because before I would be worried about using an image like this because my Pro Markers tend to bleed over the edges in the very fine areas.

I went for a sepia effect on this card with the colouring and tied it in with the browns and neutral colours in the papers, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I'm sad that I used that last of my Tim Holtz tickets though!

Materials:
Image: Sugar Nellie
Sentiments: Tim Holtz
Papers: My Mind's Eye
Flowers: Prima
Stamping: Stempelglede
Colouring: Polychromatic Pencils
Leaf Punch: Martha Stewart
Pearls, Brads & Spacers: From My Stash
Charm: Sent By Kim
Distress Ink: Tim Holtz - Brushed Corduroy

Here is a closer view of the coloured image.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and Happy Valentine's Day on Monday!
Thanks for looking!

Anniversary Card

Hi everyone! Today I've got my mum and dad's anniversary card to show you, as their anniversary is coming up on Friday.
I went for a more simple card than I usually would, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

I am entering it into this week's Just Magnolia Challenge, where the theme is 'Let's Get Sentimental', so to qualify for the challenge, you must use a sentiment on your card. I tried to make a bit of a feature of the 'LOVE' lettering, so hopefully my card qualifies as 'sentimental'! :)

I am also entering it into this week's Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge, where the theme is turquoise and brown.

Materials:
Image: Magnolia
Papers: My Mind's Eye
Punch: Martha Stewart
Colouring: Pro Markers
Flower: Handmade Using Retro Punches (See Tutorial On Sidebar)
Swirl Punch: Woodware
Lettering: I Can't Remember
Happiness Stamp: Hero Arts
Gems: From My Stash
Glitter: Stickles

I can't wait until The X Factor starts again tonight, and the final of Big Brother is on Tuesday as well, so there's lots of good TV at the moment! :)

Thank you for looking and keep an eye on my mum for me to make sure she doesn't peek at this blog! :)

Quixotic Challenge Card

Hi there! I hope you are all having a lovely week and are looking forward to the weekend! I am going to be off school tomorrow, because all of year nine have 'Go To Work Day', where we have to go to work with one of our parents or someone we know, so I'll be going to work with my mum!

My mojo has come back a little and I decided to make this card for this week's Quixotic Challenge, where the theme is 'Pretty Pearls'.

Materials:
Image: The Greetings Farm
Sentiment: My Mind's Eye
Papers: My Mind's Eye
Ribbon: From My Stash
Flowers & Dots: My Mind's Eye
Pearls: From My Stash
Colouring: Pro Markers
Punch: Martha Stewart
Cardstock: Bazzil
Can you believe these papers were from a paper pad that came free with this month's 'Cardmaking and Papercraft' magazine?! What a great prize, and such good quality pretty papers too! I can't wait to have another go with them to make some more girly cards, tee hee! :)
Thanks so much for looking and bye for now!

Magnolia Card & Concert Pictures!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to show you this card I am entering into Just Magnolia, where the theme is 'In The Garden'. I used my mum's Martha Stewart fence punch, to make it look like Tilda was in the garden. I've also had a go at masking my image, which I've never tried before. It was a bit tricky and took me a few attempts, and even now it's a bit smudged, but I got there in the end! :)

Materials:
Image: Magnolia
Sentiment: Magnolia
Papers: PaperMania
Colouring: ProMarkers
Flowers: From My Stash
Ribbon: From My Stash
Cardstock: Bazzil
Punch: Martha Stewart
Gems: From My Stash

Here is a closer view.

Also, for those of you who had a go at guessing which of my statements was true in my last post, it was number six, I have held snakes, lizards and a crocodile in the past - but it was only a baby one and it had its mouth taped up, ha ha! :)

Before I go, I want to show you a few of the pictures I took on Saturday, when I went to Signal One 2010 Live at my local park with my friends. It was absolutely fantastic and we had such a brilliant time!

Here is a horrible spinning ride that my friends went on, but I didn't dare!

Here are two of the radio DJs presenting it, blowing those vuvuzelas they have at the World Cup!

Anyway, I'd better go - thanks so much for looking and have a lovely week!
Hopefully, England will win their match on Wednesday, or they'll be out of the World Cup!
Bye for now,

Another Magnolia Card!

Hi everyone! It's such a nice day today - at last, some good weather! This morning, I woke up to find my 'Cardmaking & Papercraft' magazine on the doorstep, as my grandma bought me a subscription to it for my birthday, and it came with some gorgeous floral papers too! :)

I've made another Magnolia card to enter in Just Magnolia Challenge. This week's challenge over there is called 'Punch It Out', so you have you use some kind of punching on your card.

I used a Martha Stewart border punch to edge my stripy paper and then also added a few punched out butterflies and used this sweet little Tilda for a spring/summer-themed card.

Materials:
Image: Magnolia
Sentiment: Studio G
Papers: PaperMania
Flowers: From My Stash
Colouring: ProMarkers
Cardstock: Bazzil
Other Embellishments: From My Stash

I can't believe the Easter holidays have nearly come to an end already, sob! Me, my mum and dad and my brother are going out for tea tomorrow evening to celebrate the last day before work and school again!
Anyway, better go now. Thanks so much for looking and have a great weekend! :)

Crafty Calendar Challenge Design Team Card - Challenge 4

Hi everyone and Hapy New Year! I can't believe we've left the Noughties now, I felt so nostalgic watching the look-back at the past decade from 2000 to 2009, especially on things like the 9/11 and the London bombings and Obama becoming president.

Anyway, here's my Design Team card for Challenge 4 of the Crafty Calendar Challenge.

The theme for this month is 'Keeping Warm' with the optional extra of texture. I have added texture with the raffia underneath the flowers and I have added warmth with the warmish colours and cookie image!

The image is Whiff Of Joy, the colouring was done with Pro Markers, the flowers are Prima, the sentiment is Studio G (I think!), the papers are K&Co. and the rest of the embellishments are from my stash.

Thanks for looking and all the best for 2010!
Love from, Georgia xx
