Kenwood: ca. February 1967.

Dot Jarlett's archive is up for auction, and amongst other examples of Kenwoodalia are these; "innaresting" because they show a small slice of vérité from what I'd guess is the early part of 1967. Have a look at the pic above, for example. That at least appears to be Cyn and a fully tached-up John peering down from the sunroom:

Another one of Julian messing about by the pool, but again there seems to be someone in a chair in the sunroom, gazing out over the grounds:

Note feline on the left:

A little seen corner of the pool. Note the door in the wall on the left, and the collection of junk under the garage:

To wit:

There are also a number of photos showing a visit to a local park by Cynthia, Julian and another couple of people, who look to me like John's aunt Mater, and his cousin Stan:

I could well be completely wrong about that, but once again have a look at the sunroom in this one:

Mater chatting to Cyn as John sits looking out the window?:

Palpable nonsense. Finally, a shot of the interior sunroom. No Monterey poster yet, o' course, as the titular festival had yet to happen, but most of the other familiar elements in place:

Ahh, sweet flagrant trivia.

Kenwood: late 1990s.

There has been a veritable glut o' Kenwood shiznit turning up of late, and let's add to that glut with these, taken circa 1998 by Nick Cowburn.
Above and below, so far, so familiar:

However, round the other side and the place is looking almost derelict. Note the boarded up windows, and unsightly pile of "stuff":

More unsightlitude, and the last stand of John's pool. Shortly after this, the whole thing was demolished to make way for...err...another pool facing in a different direction. Oh to have too much money:

Having said that, it does seem to have fallen into a state of some disrepair:

Then unt then:

Looking back towards the sunroom; a familiar spot for photographers down the years:

This bit entirely new, next to said sunroom:

And a final view, somewhat overgrown:

Many thanks to Nick for allowing these to be used here. He also got some photos of Kinfauns (also on its last legs at that point), plus some video footage, all of which shall go up immediately. BY THE WAY - anyone else here in Blighty see Yoko on Jonathan Ross this evening? Fellow guest Vin Diesel seemed to say at one point that he was renting a house in St George's Hill "next to Yoko"...but I wasn't really paying attention, so maybe I misheard.

Kenwood: swimming pool, 1967.

Lizzie Bravo (who needs no introduction) has a large cache of previously unseen Kenwood pics, taken between January and the summer of 1967. Being the generous soul that she is, permission has been granted to share them on here; so, as a little "appeteaser", 4 shots of the pool. The above was taken in January of the aforementioned year, whilst the other three must date from early summer (judging by the foliage):

These were all scanned straight from Lizzie's original prints, taken using her (obviously) very-much pre-digital camera, and the old technology lends many of her black and white shots a particularly crepuscular air:

As regulah readahs will know, the pool was built (not literally) by John, and demolished in the mid-90s to make way for not a great deal:

Many more to follow soon(ish), including some with date attached.

Thanks to Lizzie!

Kenwood: June 29, 1967.

Is there no end to these June 29, 1967 Kenwood pics? It would seem not. John and Julian, on the diving board. Actually, I think this one may have been on here before, but in appalling quality.

Kenwood: summer, 1968 - part 7.

Cathy then walked up the north perimeter steps, which took her out at the side of the garage, overlooking the swimming pool. She got the above shot through a gap in the woodwork. As she says:"The two little heads that can just be seen through the fence are Julian and a "little girl from down the hill". The photo was taken from the car port."
I would never have spotted the "two little heads", but there they are. You can also just make out part of the "Psychedelic Eye" on the wall of the swimming pool itself.
I'd never noticed before, but some of the plans on these pages show an area of concrete to the side of the garage. Cars were one of John's big extravagances during the '60s, so this area was likely used to park any that wouldn't fit in the main garage.
You can just see the spot, from where the above photo was taken, to the left of the garage in the black and white pic below:

Once again, many thanks go to Cathy and Lizzie. Next up, the front gate, drive and some more views of the house.

Swimming Pool 1: panorama, summer 1968.

Again, click on it for a better view. This is what you would have seen standing outside the sunroom in the summer of 1968 looking down towards the pool.
