Sticky Note

Hi all and welcome to another sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess this week is Judy Rozema and here is the card I made.

As soon as I saw the torn edge, I thought stationery so that’s the route I took. I created two sticky notes and a torn edge and adhered them to an embossed background. I finished with some silver foil paper clips and a bold sentiment - albeit in the wrong place!

Thanks so much for visiting. The design team have some gorgeous cards so I hope you’ll check them out.

Products used:

Stamps: Take Note (SSS)
Ink: Versafine Clair Nocturne
Cardstock: White, Stone Gray (MFT), Misty Morning (Altenew), Peach Sorbet, Terracotta (Spellbinders) Mist (Lawn Fawn), Off The Grid patterned paper (MFT), Silver mirror foil
Dies: Push Pin Notes (Spellbinders), Notebook Edge (MFT), Notebook Journal Card (SugarPea Designs)
Accessories: Distress Mix Embossing Folder (Spellbinders)

Floral Book

Hi and welcome.  I carved out a bit of time today to make a card specifically for the final Color Throwdown challenge.  I haven't played along in challenges for several years now, but when I was a regular challenge player, Color Throwdown was always one I tried to create for.  I'm sorry to see the challenge go, but totally understand.

Anyway, onto my card.  I wanted to try and create with softer versions of the challenge colours.  So I went with a vanilla-yellow colour, a soft orange and a minty green.  I added some ink to brighten up the colours some.

I decided to use an old die-set from SugarPea Designs which I have always loved.  I created the "book" using Acorn and Ivory cardstock and then worked on the floral arrangement and glasses.  I wanted the background to look a bit bookish too, so lightly stamped a text background with Fog ink.  I then spritzed it with Hickory Smoke Distress Spritz for some splatter and sparkle.  The floral arrangement was spritzed with clear shimmer spray.

The whole background was dry-embossed with the Subtle EF and I finished with a couple of random flowers on the background.

I'm also playing along with Time Out Challenge where I have chosen all of the options except Movie.  When I saw the challenge and decided to make a book, the "corners" option reminded me of turning the corner down to mark the page (not that I have ever done that - it makes my eye twitch just thinking about it!).

Thanks for visiting. And special thanks to the Color Throwdown team for all the wonderful inspiration over the years.

Products used:

Stamps: You Matter (SSS), Many Thanks (Altenew)
Ink: Fog (SSS), Obsidian (Altenew), Mustard Seed, Cracked Pistachio, Ripe Persimmon Distress Inks

Dies: Open Book (SugarPea Designs)
Accessories: Hickory Smoke Distress Spritz, Subtle Embossing Folder (SU), Clear Shimmer Spray (Tsukineko)

Air Mail

Today's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches was designed by the one-and-only Linda Callahan and leaves a wide open space for all sorts of different interpretations.  I went through my NBUS box and decided it was time I used some of the Spellbinders club kits from April this year.  I chose to work with the hot foil plate and co-ordinating stencils for the centre panel in my card.

After stenciling, I adhered the panel to a white card base and worked on the other sketch elements.  I cut two strips of white cardstock and adhered them with foam tape to the card base after stamping a sentiment on the top panel.  I then used Altenew inks in darker shades to the stenciled panel to create the airmail strip and the heart border, which are from SugarPea Designs.

Thanks for visiting!  Head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Baby

Hi all and welcome!  Before I get to this week's card for Freshly Made Sketches I wanted to let my (previous) email subscribers know that my account was closed by MailChimp because I hadn't logged into it for 24 months.  Silly me ignored the emails thinking they related to the long-closed Fusion Card Challenge because emails for this blog were going to subscribers every time I posted, so of course my account was active 😒.  But no, because I hadn't logged into my MailChimp account, it was closed and there is no way to get it back.  So none of my subscribers have been receiving emails since May.

Long story short, I created a new account at Follow It which was so much easier to set up so if you would like to receive emails when I post (about 1 card a week!), please sign up to the right 👉.

Now onto this week's card. Jen Mitchell came up with a fabulous sketch and I used some NBUS dies from Scrapbook.com to make a baby card - for who I have no idea 😁

I die-cut everything from white cardstock and ink-blended using some soft pastel colours.  I arranged the images onto a vellum stitched tag and then onto a strip of gingham patterned paper.  The sentiment die is from SugarPea Designs and stacked three high for dimension.

Thanks so much for visiting!  The design team have some wonderful cards so I hope you'll check them out.

Just a Note

Today's card was made using the sketch designed by Judy Rozema over at Freshly Made Sketches.  At first I thought I would do scallop layers but then I remembered this NBUS die and thought it would work okay.

It was pretty simple to pull this card together.  The die also adds the "lines" on the paper so I cut 3 panels and arranged them onto a Mint card base that had been embossed with the Burlap embossing folder.  The sentiment was stamped onto the same Mint paper and die-cut and I finished with some silver foil die-cut paper clips.

Thanks for visiting.  Please head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Cardstock:  White, Mint (CTMH), silver foil

Accessories:  Burlap EF (Honey Bee Stamps)

Rainbow of Happiness

Today’s card uses Cecile’s sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and I was stumped at first then thought of a deconstructed rainbow so that’s what I went with.

To avoid too many clashing colours, I kept the other elements neutral. The sentiment comes from an old SugarPea Designs stamp set.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you’ll check out the wonderful cards made by the design team.

Jukebox

Welcome!  Today's card is for the latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches where it is my turn to host.  As usual, I came up with a simple sketch and used the wide open space in the middle to create a small scene for this cute jukebox stamp.

After stamping and Copic-colouring the jukebox, I fussy-cut it out and set it to one side while I created the background.  I stamped one of the images from the On The Ground set and coloured the black squares with Copics.  I then masked off that area and lightly sponged mint ink above that, fading into white.

I then gold-embossed the sentiment and bordered the long edges with gold foil cardstock.  The card base is white, but I added two black strips I'd embossed with the Window Slats embossing folder.  There are no embellishments because I made this for a male.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll play along this week after checking out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

I'm entering this card into Time Out Challenges 8th Birthday challenge as well as Addicted to Stamps and More All Occasions challenge.

Coffee Time

It's time for another challenge from the Fusion team and I took inspiration from both the sketch and photo this time to create a chalkboard-themed card.

The sentiments and images for the background came from multiple stamp sets and after I laid them out in my Misti, I white-embossed them onto black cardstock.  I rubbed on a bit of white pigment ink to give the impression of a chalkbaord and then went to work on the rest of the card.

The cup was already coloured and tucked into my stamp pocket, so that made the job quicker!  I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto a white strip and tucked a piece of vellum behind in line with the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the rest of the DT cards and play along with us.

I'm playing along with the coffee/tea theme at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

Bubbles

Welcome back to a new year of challenges at Fusion Card Challenge.  We're starting off with a festive photo inspiration, which is what I focused on for my card.

I wanted to try and recreate the gold background in the inspiration photo, so I took a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and blended Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink all over it.  Around the edges I inked Tea Dye.  I then took the Bokeh stencil set from Taylored Expressions and went over it with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide, Enchanted Gold ink and Unicorn White.  It's a shame you can't see how the gold ink looks from the photo, but it adds a lovely shine.

The champagne glass was a die-cut which I coloured with my Copics.  I then added some "bubbles" with a white gel pen and covered the "liquid" with clear sparkle pen.  The sentiment is stacked three high for dimension.

After all that, there was something missing, so I added a black frame to draw the eye and break up the background a bit.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

I'm linking this up to the Beverages theme at Just Us Girls, the colour challenge at Colour Throwdown and the Make 2022 Sparkle theme at Paper Players challenge

Jukebox

Hi!  The blog has been a bit quiet this last week or two as my design teams are on a break and so am I!  Hopefully, I'll feel inspired to create just for the fun of it.

This card was made using both the photo and the sketch at SugarPea Designs.  And can I say, it took forever to pull together!  I started this a week ago by putting together the jukebox and it just didn't look right - maybe because the body is white and I've never seen a white jukebox?  Anyways, I persevered and created this simple card.

To try and tone down the white and give it some dimension, I added some subtle shading with gray Copic markers, but it's hard to see in the phot.

The card base is white, with a panel of Caribbean Sea cardstock, embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  The sentiment is white-embossed onto black and the jukebox is popped up on foam tape.

To finish the card, I added some enamel dots from Altenew to match the pink and teal colours.

Thanks for visiting.

Ink:  Versamark
Cardstock:  White, Black, Caribbean Sea, Ripe Raspberry (MFT), Dove (C+9)

Pink Thank You

Hi!  It's time for a new Fusion challenge and I created a fusion this week to come up with this card:

Whenever I see a typewriter image, I'm always drawn to my SugarPea Designs stamp and die set.  I love the wee typewriter and this time I used pink, cream and black from the photo to create my typewriter.  I adhered it with foam tape to a black die-cut circle and then prepared my card base.  Onto the cream base I added the pink panels onto which I'd heat-embossed the sentiment and then run through with an embossing folder to provide some texture.

I finished with some clear sparkle pen on the heart and inside of the typewriter.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the rest of the DT cards.

Good Idea

Hi!  A quick post from me today bringing you my card for the latest Fusion challenge, where I created a fusion of both photo and sketch.

I did go with darker shades of the colours in the photo though because I wanted a more intense feel to my card.  The cups were stamped, using a mask, omto X-Press It cardstock and coloured with Copics.  I then die-cut several layers and elements to match the sketch.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the challenge and the rest of the DT cards.

Products used:

Stamps:  Coffee Addict (SugarPea Designs), Coffee Break (MFT)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K)

Coffee Break

Hi all!  One of the benefits of working from home during a lockdown is that in my lunch break, I can pop into my craft room to de-stress.  Over the last few days I have been working on this card for the current SugarPea Designs Mix It Up challenge.  I was really drawn to the colours and I also really like the sketch so I combined both to create this card.

I created several alcohol inked panels over the weekend and this was one of them.  Sorry, I didn't record the various inks I used for each panel so I can't list them here.  I layered that panel onto a scalloped die-cut Whip Cream panel and then onto a Kraft side-folding card base.

Originally I had stamped the coffee bean heart into a circle die-cut but it didn't look right, so I fussy-cut it out which looked much better.  The cup was stamped and coloured with Copics (I stamped the 'foam' with Brown Sugar ink) and I also fussy-cut that.  Both of these elements are popped up on foam tape.  The sentiment was die-cut three times from Whip Cream and once from Hot Fudge cardstock and stacked together.  I also cut two strips of Hot Fudge cardstock, angling the ends for the vertical sketch elements.

Only 3 Copics?  Don't think I've ever only used 3 Copics on a card before... 😀

Thanks for visiting!

Day Filled With Love

Hi!  I'm here with my card for the latest Fusion challenge.  I played with both the sketch and the photo, but I concentrated on the patterns and colours in the photo and left the gnomes alone :)

This was a very simple card to make.  I used a background plaid stamp and then die-cut two hearts from it.  I used washi tape for the stripes across the middle and a bold sentiment.  The rest is all die-cuts, patterned paper and enamel dots!

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have created gorgeous cards as usual so I hope you'll check them out.
