Partial Cut Flowers

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another challenge from the team at The Flower Challenge and this month we have a treat for you!  It's our Case the Designer challenge and the designer is the amazing Therese Calvird.  Check out this amazing card:

No automatic alt text available.

There is so much to be inspired by on Therese's card - the floral die, negative die cut, pink, ombre, the gorgeous soft background behind the die-cut, the layout...  I was inspired by the layout and the pinks.  I also used the same sentiment but in a different way.

I white-embossed a text stamp onto a panel of watercolor paper and watercolored with distress inks.  I then adhered that to the card base.  The top panel was die-cut with the Partial Cut Flowers die and added with foam tape.  I popped up the petals so you can see the watercolored panel underneath.   Here are a couple more photos so you can see the real effect of the flowers.

Thanks for visiting.  The rest of the DT have some beautiful cards so I hope you'll check them out and also pay a visit to Therese's gorgeous blog.

You Say Witch...

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made the other evening, when I felt like doing some coloring.  After I'd finished coloring, I decided to make it up into a card and this is the finished result.

I'm linking this up to ColourQ and City Crafter challenges.

This is another NBUS image that has been in my NBUS box since near the beginning of the year!  I stamped her onto Neenah Solar White and colored her with Copics.  I then masked her using a Molotow masking pen and sponged Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Carved Pumpkin inks around her, finishing off with some Black Soot at the bottom.  I then removed the masking fluid and stamped the sentiment.

Finally, I cut the panel with a pierced rectangle die and adhered it to a white card base.  I then took my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen and colored her skin, a la Edward Cullen :)

Thanks for visiting.

Deepest Sympathy

Hi and welcome!  Today I have the thrill of being guest stamper at Color Throwdown, because my card was randomly drawn as Featured Stamper.  The colors this week are just gorgeous - check them out:

The colors are kraft, pink and pale green.  Of course, when I saw those colors, I immediately thought of flowers!

I wanted to try pencil coloring on kraft after seeing some beautiful cards on my friend, Sonja's blog (and having received one from her in real life!)  So I took a new Unity Stamp flower stamp and stamped it onto some Desert Storm cardstock.  I then very loosely colored it with pink, green and white Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment comes from Verve and is one of my favorite sympathy sentiments.

I layered the panel onto black and Pink Pirouette and then onto a Desert Storm cardbase.  To finish the card, I kept it pretty low-key and only added some Rainstones.

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check out the fabulous creations from the team at Color Throwdown - they amaze me every week with their gorgeous cards!

You are Tough

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketches!  Our fabulous sketch today comes from our own super-talented Jennifer Timko.

And here's my card:

I used a NBUS stamp set called Hello Love by Unity Stamps.  It was seeing the amazing cards made by my blogging friend Lee Ann Barrett with this company's stamps that made me place an order :) I stamped the woman and colored her with Copic markers.  To make the image fit with the sketch, I cut my card base a bit smaller than normal, making it 4" x 5",  A little strip of Limeade Ice cardstock was adhered to the image panel and both panels were popped up on foam tape onto the card base.

Because of the tone of the sentiment (which I love!) I deliberately didn't add any frou frou or embellishments.

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's creations - they are fabulous as usual!

Big Thanks

Hi!  I made this card late last night and while the background came together quickly, the front panel took a bit longer as I couldn't decide what to put in it.  This is version 3.0:

I used Linda's sketch at Pals Paper Arts and the current challenge at Pinterest Inspired Challenge.  I wanted a long narrow front panel but couldn't find anything appropriate to fit, so ended up with this sentiment and lots of white space :)

For my background panel, I took a piece of watercolor paper and white embossed the Worn Grid stamp from Unity.  I then used Sonja's controlled watercolor technique to apply ink.  I used several distress inks, trying to match the colors of the inspiration picture.  Once it was dry, it looked a bit patchy so I went over the whole thing with Tumbled Glass ink to give it some cohesion, then went round the edges with Vintage Photo ink before die-cutting it with an angled die.

I layered that onto a black card base and put another thin strip of black on the bottom panel to match the sketch.  The sentiment was stamped with High Dive ink and layered onto a black panel.  I finished with some dark grey enamel dots.

I'm also entering this into Stampin' Royalty's Card for Guys challenge.  This is my second entry there.
