Mermaid Kisses

Hi and welcome!  I'm back with another Fusion challenge and this time we're going with a summery theme, even though it's the depths of winter here 😄

For my card, I used a My Monthly Hero Kit from May, that was still NBUS!  I stamped several images onto X-Press It cardstock and colored them with Copics before die-cutting them.  Once they were all die-cut, I decided how I wanted them placed and then made a sea background for them using Distress Oxide inks.

I adhered all the images to the blended panel, popping up the mermaid and starfish on foam tape.  I backed that panel with some timber patterned paper offset at an angle and put it to one side while I worked on the rest of the card.

I created another Distress Oxide panel for the vertical strip and stamped the sentiment near the bottom.  On either side I adhered a thin sliver of the patterned paper and finally I added the image panel.

Thanks for visiting!  Head on over and check out the gorgeous cards made by the rest of the design team!

I'm linking this card up to the current challenge at The Heart Desires where I've used the nautical theme and tried to stick with the challenge colors.

Green Heart

Welcome!  I made this card on the weekend and thought I'd better get it on my blog before the various challenges closed :)  Lately, the blogging part of this hobby has been left until the last minute - must be a bit more disciplined!

Anyways, I made this card using the sketch at MFT, the colors from The Heart Desires and the masculine theme at Simon Says Stamp.

From the latest MFT release, the things I fell in love with most were the Color Drop stamps and dies.  So, when I got the chance to buy these, I jumped on them and had to use them as soon as they arrived.  I decided to make two hearts from two different green cardstocks, layering one on top of the other.  I also popped the right hand side up on foam to add some interest.  The card base is a soft gray color and then I added a black fishtail flag frame.  The sentiment and word die are from Mama Elephant and I just love the white embossing on the red strip - such a bright pop of color!

I think this card would be suitable for a teenage boy (or girl, for that matter) - the colors are young and fun.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Cheer Team

So, here's the thing... Yesterday, when I decided to make a card, I had the insane idea to film it.  Totally unprepared - no nail polish as my nails are really brittle at the moment due to the remover I was using; no jewellery as I don't wear jewellery on the weekends; no idea what I was actually going to do other than color an image with Zig markers.  But I hooked up my iPhone and pressed Record.

Once it was finished, my 14-year old son took my phone to his Mac and created a video and then uploaded it to YouTube!!!  I was going to do a quick voice-over but he was getting over it by that stage, so no voiceover.  I did win the battle on background music though 😃

And here is the card that started it all:

I made this card for the new challenge at Art Impressions to try a new technique.  My technique was using a water brush to color with Zigs.  I've used paintbrushes in the past but the water brush was so much easier.  Another new technique was to use Press n Seal to hold the watercolor paper onto my board.  That wasn't such a good idea when you're coloring an image, but it's genius for doing watercolor backgrounds and stenciling.  A great idea from Jennifer McGuire.  My third new technique was filming the making of this card 😄

It was pretty simple to create, but when I stamped the sentiment directly onto the watercolor panel and then die-cut the image the sentiment was way to close too the edge and didn't look nice.  To fix that mistake I added a white-embossed banner (all of this is left in the video!).

I'm also going to link this to the "New" challenges at Just Us Girls and Sweet Stampin' as this stamp set is new to me plus I was inspired by the blues and whites over at The Heart Desires.

And here is the video.  If you prefer, you can watch it over at YouTube.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Dragon Baby

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made using the Welcome cue word at CASology as well as the sketch at The Heart Desires.

This Magical Dragons set is another NBUS set.  MFT sets don't normally sit in my NBUS box for long which is why I haven't been making much with MFT sets lately :)  However, I bought this set and the dies were out of stock so I had to set up my Silhouette to cut the images and that was just too much like hard work until this weekend!

I colored the wee dragons and then embossed the sentiment onto a strip of vellum using Rose Gold EP.  That was adhered under a tiny strip of black, giving the dragons something to ground them

And that's about all there is to it!  Thanks for visiting.

Products used:

Stamps:  Magical Dragons (MFT), Bundle of Joy (SPD)
Ink:  Black Licorice Hybrid, Versamark
Cardstock:  White, Black, Vellum, X-Press It
Accessories:  Rose Gold EP (SSS), Copics

Jellyfish

After a fabulous 4-day weekend, it's back to work for me tomorrow :(

I made this card for the new challenge at The Heart Desires (sea/colors/geometric theme) as well as the sketch from Sunday Stamps, the Under the Sea theme at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge, the watercolor theme from AAA Cards and the Father's Day theme at Sweet Stampin'.  Phew!

I stamped the cute Lawn Fawn jellyfish onto a watercolor panel and colored them with my Zig markers.  It's hard to see in the photo, but I also painted some vertical streaks of blue to represent the sea.  I adhered that panel to a black angled panel.  The card base is Hawaiian Shores over which I adhered the Waves Cover Plate cut from white.  The sentiment is white-embossed on black and to add some interest, I also added a sliver of Hawaiian Shored cardstock to the bottom.

Thanks for visiting.
