Best Day Ever

Hi!  It's Easter Weekend which means a 4-day weekend here in NZ - woohoo!  To add to that, I've taken an extra 2 days off work, which gives me lots of time to stamp :)

After spending most of today making DT cards in between doing loads of laundry, I finally got some time this evening to make a card for a couple of challenges. This card is for the current Share Joy Challenge, where I've sort of stuck to the sketch as well as produced a CAS card.  I was also inspired by Marjan's card at Time Out and used similar colors as well as keeping the floral theme (although my purple ink is a bit darker).  For my twist, I added a black card base to make everything pop and some emboss resist.

I started my card by stamping the flowers in SSS dye inks then clear-embossing.  To keep the ink wet long enough for the embossing powder to stick, I first inked up in Versamark then in the colored ink.  I kept my images to the bottom right of the panel, matching the sketch at Share Joy.  Once that was complete, I inked up part of the Tiny Alphabet background stamp with Versamark ink and stamped it, also in the bottom right hand portion of the panel.  I then clear-embossed it before very lightly sponging on some Hickory Smoke ink.

I die-cut the panel with the largest of the Pierced Rectangle Stax and then white embossed the sentiment.  Before adhering the panel to the card base, I clear embossed the same images onto the bottom right corner of the black card base to give a bit of added interest.  You can see it a bit better in the close-up photo below:

And that's it!  Thanks for visiting.

Framed Roses

Hi and welcome!  After a very busy weekend, I finally managed to get into my craft room to make a card that wasn't for upcoming DT work.  I saw a video by Therese Calvird showing how she created a stamped, framed, card and I just had to give it a go myself.  And I have to say, I love the results.

I took a panel of white cardstock the same size as a card front and stamped and masked the roses from Vintage Flowers.  Once I was finished, I die-cut the rectangle frame from the center of the card. The sentiment was silver embossed onto the center panel.

I then layered the three pieces onto a card base, adhering the center and outer panels directly to the card base and the frame using foam tape.  Simple, but effective.

I'm going to enter this card into the current Work It Wednesday floral challenge, Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes and the Share Joy CAS challenge.  I don't have any Taylored Expressions stamps, but I plan on rectifying that oversight soon :)

Thanks for visiting.
