All Star Birthday

It's time for another sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is the fabulously talented Rita Wright.  Check out her multi-layered sketch:

At the time I was making my card using this sketch, I needed a card for my niece's 10th birthday.  I was looking for something a 'tween would like and found my All-Star die and decided to make a purple and black card featuring this trendy shoe.

I sponged some Lavender ink around the shoe to give it a bit of dimension and also sponged some Fog ink onto the white parts to make them look a bit "worn".  The "birthday" die comes from Stamplorations and matches the trendy look I was going for.

Thanks so much for visiting!  As always, the rest of the design team have come up with some fabulous cards using the sketch, so I hope you'll head on over and check them out.

Cheers

Lemons and Limes

Welcome to the new Fusion challenge.  I hope you enjoyed our anniversary celebration and the wonderful guests the design team invited.  Our new challenge is a nod to Australia Day, which is on 26 January.  The wattle is a symbol of Australia so we've gone with that as our photo inspiration this time.  You can be inspired by the floral theme, the colors or as in my case, the citrus at the bottom of the photo!

I stamped and colored this free stamp I got with my last Stamplorations order to represent a lemon and a lime and fussy-cut it out.  I white-embossed the sentiment onto a black card base and adhered the citrus with foam tape.  Lastly, I stitched down some vellum flags with my sewing machine.

Thanks for visiting.  The design team have come up with some wonderful inspiration for you.

Products used:

Stamps:  Lemons (Stamplorations), Just Because (PTI)
Ink:  Intense Black (SSS), Versamark
Cardstock:  Black, White, Vellum
Dies:  Stitched Fishtail Flag Stax (MFT)
Accessories:  Copics, sewing machine

Christmas Poinsettia

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketch Challenge Day!  This week, I am the sketch hostess and, true to form, I've got a pretty simple sketch for you.

I decided to create my own background pattern to come up with another Christmas card.

And now that I look at the sketch, I notice that I didn't follow it totally, putting the flowers a bit higher than the sentiment.  Doh!

My background was made by white-embossing various images onto a panel of Soft Stone cardstock, then die-cutting with a stitched edge die.

The sentiment was cut from gold foil because my Mini Minc up and died on me - after nearly asphyxiating me with the smell of burning plastic!  Back to the shop it went and I'm waiting on another one to be sent to replace it.

I stamped the ponsettia and leaves using Altenew inks then die-cut them out and colored them with clear Wink of Stella.

All in all a pretty simple card.

Thanks for stopping by!  The rest of the design team have created some gorgeous cards with the sketch, and I hope you'll have a go too.

Cardstock:  White, Soft Stone (PTI), Gold Foil

Blessings Basket

Hi and welcome!  Today is a very special day as I am representing Freshly Made Sketches in a wonderful blog hop - the Giving Thanks Blog Hop for Stamplorations.

The lovely Shery Russ from Stamplorations has invited several challenge blogs to join with her design team so you can hop around and check out the fabulous creations using the newest Stamplorations products.  And there's prizes, which I'll tell you about shortly.  But first, let me show you what I made with these gorgeous products.  My first card uses all the products I received - a fabulous stencil, stamp set with die and word die.

I sponged some distress inks onto a watercolor panel and then placed the stencil over the top before lightly spritzing with water and quickly removing.  left behind was a faint outline of the leaves pattern in the stencil.  I die-cut the panel and adhered it to a white card base.  The basket was colored with Copics and die-cut and adhered with foam tape.  For the sentiment, I sponged distress inks in an ombre fashion before die-cutting the word die.  I also cut it from black cardstock and adhered it slightly offset.

My second card was made very similarly but without the stenciled background, making a more CAS card.  I also used a side-opening card base to give it a different orientation.

Here's a close up:

And the markers I used:

Thanks So Much

And it's Paper Players Challenge Day!  This week Jaydee has a very cool challenge theme for us - CAS Girly Thanks.

For my card, I combined the sketch at Verve with the colors at Just Add Ink to come up with this card.

I ended up not using any Verve stamps on my card but did use a brand new-to-me set from a company I've never bought from before - Stamplorations.  I started my card by sponging some Pear Pizzazz ink onto a white cardbase using the Diagonal Stripes stencil by MFT.    I embossed the "thanks so much" stamps onto a piece of vellum using Pool Party EP then cut it with a stitched rectangle die.  Behind that panel, I second-generation stamped the Tiny Alphabet Background from SSS using Crumb Cake ink.

I die cut a butterfly with Calypso Coral cardstock and also cut a solid butterfly shape out of vellum.  I dropped some silver thread behind the butterfly and arranged a few enamel dots and my card was done.

Thanks for visiting.  The rest of the design team have some wonderful thank you cards for your viewing pleasure so be sure to check them out.
