Hashtag Birthday

Hi and welcome!  I made a card this morning using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown challenge as well as the last sketch from Deconstructed Sketch.  I love Jen's sketches and find them beautifully balanced and interesting.  My CAS style sometimes struggles with them, but I try and play along occasionally.  I'm also adding this card to a new-to-me challenge blog, City Crafter Challenge Blog, who are looking for tags (Thanks, Samra for the heads up!)

I'm still practicing with my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and last night I watched a video fom Michelle Short which I found really helpful with my coloring.  So I immediately went into my craft room and started coloring.  This time I used a paintbrush rather than a water pen and it went so much better.

Once I'd finished coloring, I left it overnight.  This morning when I came back to it, I knew I wanted to use it with this sketch.  Coincidentally the colors of hot pink and lime green were part of the line-up at Color Throwdown, so I immediately had the color scheme for my card!

The card base is Neenah Desert Storm and the gray panel was die cut with the cross stitch pattern from Blueprints 20.  The Green Apple panel was stamped with a very old Hero Arts script stamp.  The sentiment comes from a NBUS set called #Hashtags by Tim Holtz.  Both the sentiment and the tag are popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.

That Elephant...

Hi and welcome!  This week I received an order of much-"needed" crafty supplies and included in the order was the super-cute Unforgettable set by WPlus9.  Who doesn't love those adorable wee elephants?  So, of course, I had to ink them up and get out the Copics to make a card using them.

I used the current sketch from Deconstructed Sketches, the colors from ColourQ and the inspiration pic from Card Concept (my card is Clean and Layered).

I stamped and colored this adorable little elephant and his party hat before cutting them with the matching dies.  For the background, I stamped a Graph Background stamp onto white cardstock using Fog ink for a soft graphic background.  Lots of stitched dies were also put to good use as well as some of the pieces from my new Blueprints die sets.

I hope it's okay with the ColourQ ladies, but I went with Smoke instead of Basic Gray to create a softer looking card.

Hedgie Birthday

Hi everyone.  Today's card was really fun to make and used a new-to-me technique as well as a technique I haven't used for some years.  The new-to-me technique was Inked Die Cuts for the Just Us Girls Challenge.  The technique I haven't used for years was 3D paper piecing (aka paper tole) for Friday Mashup.  I combined these two challenges with the sketch from Deconstructed Sketches and the colors from Just Add Ink.

I stamped my hedgehog onto Express-it cardstock four times.  I colored the base image, then on the other three images I colored the gift box, the gift bow and the hedgehog's hands and feet.  I cut out the colored pieces and glued them to my base image using glue dots to give some dimension.  Here's a close-up of hedgie:

And a side view so you can see the different levels:

The hedgehog was cut using the Inked Die Cut technique and some Colorbox Warm Red chalk ink.  The smaller circle was stamped and the die inked with Aquamarine chalk ink before being cut.

Thanks for looking.

Glamorous Babe

This image and it's accompanying sentiment always crack me up.

This is the birthday card for my other sister who's having a birthday in the next month.  This image is from Art Impressions and I've colored it using Copics.  I don't have any skin-tone Copics so the skin is left pasty-white.  Obviously Edna doesn't get out in the sun much :)

I used some DSP from More Amore as well as the In Color DSP.  I used the sketch from Deconstructed Sketches for this card.

Thanks for looking.
