Poinsettia Tag

Today's card was made using the inspiration photo from Addicted to Stamps and More, the tag challenge at CAS on Sunday and the colors from Colour Me.

I took a piece of PTI's Stone cardstock and die cut it with a Blueprints pierced edge die.  I then used some embossing paste and the Falling Snow stencil after masking off a spot for the sentiment.  While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled on some Rock Candy Distress Glitter so the card has a subtle shimmer IRL.

Once the embossing past was dry, I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The poinsettie was stamped with various SSS inks and die-cut.  I then colored it with Wink of Stella.  It looked a bit bare on the Stone panel so I tucked a tiny little tag behind it with a Baker's Twine bow.  I finished the card with some PPP sequins.

Thanks for visiting.

Text Feathers

Hi and welcome!  This is my second post today - scroll down to see my first Father's Day card.

This card is for my husband and I used the sketch from Fab Friday, the colors from Colour Me and the inspiration from Muse.

I was inspired by the feathers - especially the ones with text in them and that's what I brought over into my card.  I also tried to keep the detail to the top portion of the card, just like Carol's card.

I stamped the alphabet background stamp onto white die-cut feathers using Unicorn White ink.  Once that was dry, I smooshed the feathers into an Olive inkpad from SSS.  The white ink resisted the olive ink and gave a nice soft image.  I used the same stamp on the circle frame and also a masked off circle on the card base.

The sentiment was white-embossed onto a black double-ended banner and popped up on foam tape.  I wish the sentiment wasn't on quite such an angle, but I had to keep it in line with the text so it wouldn't look skewed.

Thanks for visiting.

Ink:  Olive, Fog (SSS), Unicorn White (HA), Versamark

Road Trip

Welcome to my post for this week's challenge at The Paper Players, where Sandy has given us a Transportation theme.

I pulled out my Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz set called Travel Ways but really wasn't in the mood to create a vintage card, so I took the vintage-looking images and created a CAS card.

First I stamped the car in black onto the card base and clear-embossed it.  I then used the ink-smooshing technique again (love how easy that technique is!) and used the colors from ColourMe, but in Distress inks - Rusty Hinge, Scattered Straw and Wild Honey.

Once I was happy with the ink placement, I stamped the sentiment in Archival Black ink and my card was finished!

Thanks for visiting.  The rest of the design team have some wonderful cards using this theme, so I hope you'll have time to join us.

Critter Christmas

Hi and welcome!  Today's card came about as a result of me wanting to do some coloring and also having some NBUS.  I got an order from SSS the other day and included was the adorable Furry Christmas set as well as the stitched tags from MFT.  I used the colors from Colour Me and the sketch from Friday Mashup to come up with this:

I am also entering this into Simon Says Stamp's Winter Inspiration challenge.  I took my inspiration from the dog and the antlers in the below pics.

I colored up my critters using Copics, making sure to use red and artichoke as the non-neutral colors to meet the color challenge.  The hat, scarf and antlers were painted with Wink of Stella.  I then cut them out and mounted them onto a stitched tag using foam tape.  The sentiment got the same treatment.  I used the Falling Snow stencil and embossing paste on the card base to mimic the grunge in the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.

Silver Snowflakes

Today I'm playing along with the Blue Christmas challenge at AAA Cards, the sketch from Fusion and the color challenge at Colour Me.

I started out by silver-embossing the sentiment onto some vellum paper then cutting it with a banner die.  The snowflakes were die-cut with silver paper.  For the top of the card, I embossed with a SU embossing folder then die cut with a scallop die.  A white layer provided some contrast with the card base.  I put dots of glue under the rhinestones to adhere the vellum to the card base.  Some silver elastic cord finished the card.

Thanks for visiting.

Ink:  Versamark

So Old...

I've been wanting to play along at CASology for a few weeks now and the timing hasn't worked.  But I had to join in this latest challenge where the cue word is "Old".  I combined that with the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and the monochromatic color scheme at ColourMe and came up with this tongue-in-cheek card:

Originally I was going to use a sentiment stamp I have from a local Christchurch company, Montarga, which says:  "You're not old, you're chronologically gifted", but when looking for some images to use for the upper right in the sketch, I came across So 80's and saw the "You're so" stamp and that was it.  I die-cut the word "old", painted the letters with Wink of Stella, then clear embossed and came up with this masculine birthday card.

This might end up going to DH for his birthday on Christmas Eve.  He'll get a laugh out of it - I think :)

Thanks for visiting.

Stamps:  So 80's (WPlus9)
Ink:  Smoky Slate, Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black

Triangle Birthday

Hi and welcome.  Today's card came to me pretty quickly, which is unusual.  I saw the sketch at Just Add Ink and wanted to play along because I love this style of sketch and hadn't played there for quite some time.  I also loved the colours at ColourMe.  To top it off, I'm linking up to Seize the Birthday.  My card doesn't feature the optional topping of leaves, but I figured it had autumn colours and that helps :)

With the exception of the sentiment, this card is SUO - something I haven't done in a long time!  I started out with a piece of Very Vanilla and randomly sponged Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze over the panel, making sure to overlap the colors.  I then flicked water onto the panel before running it through the Big Shot with the Tiny Triangles embossing folder.

I cut the panel into three sections and layered them onto another piece of Very Vanilla.  The centre panel is popped up on foam tape to add a bit more interest.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and was stamped in Soft Suede and also run through with the same embossing folder.  And that's it!

Thanks for visiting.

Panda Love

Hi, here's another card I made on World Cardmaking Day.  I used the sketch from Fusion and the monochromatic theme at Colour Me to come up with this card:

I used a new-to-me set called Pandamonium, which has the most adorable little pandas.  I used the bow-tie from the Honey Bunny set to class up my panda a bit, because of course he's out to impress his lady friend :)  I lightly colored him with a cool gray copic marker to give him some shading.  I then covered him in Wink of Stella.

The envelope was stamped and colored on a white panel then I stamped the sentiment and cut around both.

The background is colored embossing paste and the Tim Holtz Rays stencil.  It represents the square element on the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you had a wonderful and creative World Cardmaking Day!  Because I'm using Mama Elephant stamps, I'm also entering this card into their October Anything Goes challenge.  NB:  I also just realised that I originally chose a love theme for the Curtain Call challenge, so I'm linking up there as well.

Products used:

Stamps:  Pandamonium, Honey Bunny (ME)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Calypso Coral
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Calypso Coral
Accessories:  Rays Stencil (Tim Holtz), embossing paste, circle stitched mats (Lil Inkers),Wink of Stella, Copic R22, C1

Dandelion Honey

I hope the title of this post didn't fool you into thinking I had a recipe for you hee hee :)

Today's card combines three challenges:  the sketch from Fusion, the colors from ColourMe and the word from CASology.

I stuck with a white on white card accented with some spritzing using Coastal Cabana ink in the top right and bottom left corners.  The flower panel is raised on dimensional tape.  The dandelions were stamps with Hello Honey ink and the stems stamped in Smoky Slate ink.

The sentiment was clear embossed and the sequins and enamel dot are meant to represent the star shape in the sketch.

What isn't apparent from this photo is that the flower panel is dry embossed with the Ampersand folder to give a bit of added texture.  Here's a close-up where you can just make out the embossing.

I think it's apparent how I interpreted the "three" in the CASology challenge :)

Thanks for visiting.

Products used:

Wish Big

It's Sunday night here and I haven't had a lot of time to stamp this weekend.  I did manage to squeeze in half an hour earlier this evening to make a quick card using the sketch at Pals Paper Arts and the colors at Colour Me.

I chose to use a stencil cut with my Silhouette for the horizontal panel.  I masked the top and bottom of the card base with some torn paper then sponged Pink Pirouette ink over the stencil.  The banner was cut using the banner framelits then stamped with a very, very juicy Strawberry Slush inkpad.  The banner was layered onto a piece of Strawberry Slush cardstock and trimmed very close.

Finally, I cut two stars in Pool Party and Strawberry Slush from the Lil Inkers Stitched Stars dies.  I placed a candy dot in each and mounted them using Dimensionals.

Thanks for checking out my very CAS card.

Banner Thank You

Today I have a very CAS card which uses the colors from Colour Me - Coastal Cabana and a neutral.

I used the Banner Wishes set from CTMH and stamped the banner in black onto Coastal Cabana cardstock.  I then white embossed the sentiment onto the banner.

After I cut it out, I went around the edges with a black marker.  A few enamel dots and my card was done.

Thanks for looking.
