Christmas Mouse

Hi!  The theme at Merry Monday this week is The Night Before Christmas and I just had to play along!  Way back in the early 2000's I bought some stamps from Imagina Clarity (now Clarity Stamps) that were part of a series of Night Before Christmas stamps.  This card was made using the first stamp in the series.

I'm also playing along with the Anything Goes theme at Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge.

I was going for a vintage, yet CAS look, so colored my image with browns and peachy Zig markers.  I added a pierced frame and called it done!  A pretty simple card, but oh, such a cute image!

The Stockings Were Hung...

This week's  Merry Monday challenge is very traditional - use a stocking or stockings on your card.

I went with a stamp I've had in my stash for years.  It came from a company in the UK called Imagina Clarity and it is part of a series on The Night Before Christmas.

I stamped the image onto Watercolor Paper with Black Stazon ink and colored it using inkpads and an aqua painter.  I went for non-traditional colors, using Island Indigo, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight, with a touch on Old Olive on the mouse's cap.  Staying with the non-traditional theme, I used some DSP from World Spectacular.  Some Candy Dots in opposite corners finished off the card.

I'm linking this card up to Friday Mashup as I've used their sketch, but turned 90 degrees.

Thanks for looking.  Head on over to the Merry Monday blog to see what delicious inspiration the rest of the DT have come up with.

The Owl and the Pussycat

The challenge this week at Paper Players is to make a CAS card for kids.  I combined that with the inspiration challenge at Stampin' Royalty to come up with this quick card.

I stuck to the colors in the inspiration photo and the Owl and the Pussycat covers off the kids part.  This is another really old stamp from Imagina Clarity in the UK.  I used one of their images for a Christmas card here.

This time I kept my coloring to a minimum using just a touch of color in each of the characters.  The main image was back with some Basic Gray cardstock then some dyed Daffodil Delight seam binding was tied around before being stuck to the card base using dimensionals.

This card uses the same layout as yesterday's card, but I really love this layout for CAS cards and have been using it a bit lately.

Thanks for looking.

Christmas Mouse

This week's challenge at Friday Mashup is a fun one!  Use pencil on your card.  As soon as I read the challenge, I immediately thought of a set of stamps I bought way back in the early 2000's when I first started stamping.  They are from a British company and I saw a card set in a British magazine using the stamps colored with nothing more than a pencil.  The card set was stunning, so I did my best today to do credit to one of the beautiful stamps:

I kept my card very simple to let that cute little image shine.  I colored the shoe and mouse using a pencil I had to scrounge around in my son's bag to find.  I then blended my coloring with Gamsol and a blending stump.  My bright color is Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon.  This image makes me smile.  I really wish I had all my stamps readily accessible but my non-SU stamps are relegated to the cupboard under the stairs and it's a chore to get to them.  But I think the effort was worth it today!

Here is the detail on the challenge:

  1. Create a project using "your choice of a Neutral & a Splash of one Bright Color".
  2. Create a project "using a Pencil (regular graphite #2)".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "using pencil & your choice of a neutral & a Splash of a Bright Color".
Thanks for looking.
